A carbon tax and higher levels of immigration are not free stuff — they are going to cost you. Problem is, Canadians do not see through media manipulation. Harper was doing and excellent job, but the media attacks were relentless. Remember the nothing burger “Duffy, Duffy, Duffy.” Then there were deliberate attempts by the media to paint Conservatives as anti- immigrant. The help line for Muslim families facing such things as forced marriages or honour killings was turned into a “snitch line.” Hostility of the public service was another factor with their claims of “muzzling” scientists. I guess these would be the same scientists who destroyed years of temperature records recently, unnoticed by the media.
        Just to say,

        I think there is an anti- Conservative dynamic in Canada that leaves us with Liberal governments time and again. It is about deceiving naive people, and it is destroying Canada. But we are not getting free stuff. We are paying through the nose.

        2. That dynamic you speak of is more along the perspective of those dependent on government $upport seeing any philosophy that advocates smaller government as one that would take away the $upport.
          Basically anyone that gets a government cheque, from someone collecting old age pension to the corporate entities that get bailout, to the army of bureaucrats who have made a career out of enlarging their headcount and budgets, see that as an existential threat.

One biologist suggested that the definition of a Covid death had been changed a numeric times. Definitely deaths “with” a positive Covid test are included as deaths “from” Covid. Now it seems that flu deaths are way down– but what are flu deaths based on? Looks like they are estimates, based on mathematical models:

I don’t know what the intention was behind this project, but presumably it did not meet the standard for aboriginal authenticity. Animal skins — not paper bags should have been used. (Where are grade 9’s supposed to get animal skins?) Also, the teacher was not Aboriginal and now seems to have been dismissed. I doubt it was her intention to insult aboriginals. Suggest schools get rid of trying to include aboriginal content in the curriculum. It’s pointless. Just stick to European culture and whatever Canadian stems from that. Then, kids can learn about aboriginals by going to a museum or a pow wow or watching a documentary. Trying to instill appreciation for other cultures is too risky, and little is learned in any event.

    Sources, who CBC is not naming because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the announcement, said a number of entities will be added to the list, which comes with financial and legal ramifications.
