You energy charlatans want publicity? I’ll give you publicity…

Energy writing introduces me to some great people. Unfortunately it also exposes me to some not so great ones. Here are a few case studies of deceitful and/or ludicrous attention-seeking groups, too lazy to even observe the contempt they will be held in. OK, have it your way. You want publicity? Read on…

  1. Dude, this seems like great stuff but would it be possible to know who publishes on this blog? Huge fan of Kate, maybe I haven’t been following, but unfamiliar with others. Hopefully since this isn’t a left-wing site this won’t get me banned.

    1. Cheb, I’ve been a reader of Kate for about 8 years. Terry was linked numerous times before Kate granted him posting privileges. He’s been at this a long time, and the message hasn’t changed. Consider Terry a primary source, with at least one source (Kate) you trust vouching for him.

I’ve almost always looked at his links, but my wife’s business activities have prevented me from posting directly on his site (duplicate posting accounts on same email not allowed). If my word means anything, make that two voices. Full disclosure: I work in metallurgical coal. I know a segment of the energy industry very well. I have yet to note something in Terry’s posts that i know is wrong. That’s very different from the CBC or CTV.

Does that help clarify your concerns?

  2. Falls under the heading , everybody is a liar. Good grief we are one dumb bunch. I don’t know know how we can fall for so many scams. Oh, never mind I do know.

  3. Terry, pull the rafter out of your own eye. The Alberta Oil patch resorted to the same lies when came to our communities peddling their wind farms playing off neighbour against neighbour. “That Suncor wind farm will produce clean green electricity to power a gazillion homes.”

Worstest is they ignored the evidence of adverse health impacts on those living in an industrial wind farm surrounded by 100 wind turbines. I attended the open houses. I attended the council meetings. I heard the wind experts hired by the oil patch spew their lies.

  4. Our biggest errors in mathematics is we use theories from decades and centuries ago that fail.
This is why wind turbines are terrible technology.
We use a movable pivot point on a lever.
It then takes different torque energy on the blades to move it.
Like trying to open a door. Hardest where the hinges are to push open the door as you need greater torque and much easier on the handle side with less torque.
It is all the same principle of moving a rock with a lever. Less torque energy the longer the pole.
Going further on paper, you can show the difference as you extend this into circles and each one takes more torque energy as you move to the pivot point.
The ends of a wind turbine has weakest torque to turn the whole blade that needs greater and greater torque towards the pivot point.
Many areas in our science fail when you add motion as they are calculated without thought of forces applied.
This blows the E=mc 2 theory to shit. As this is circular motion on a pivot point.

    1. So now with this wind turbine, you have only a small area or torque energy to rotate it and the rest generates drag friction that slows the blades down.
So, try to explain this to our governments and educational institutions and you are ignored as they pay subsidies to this terrible technology and education.
This is why I moved ahead to many other areas that our failed education system will ignore and yet is extremely fascinating in how our planet and Solar System works mechanically. From centrifugal force to the areas they have missed studying.
Our plants enjoy using this centrifugal force energy as well as our water vapor which is truly fascinating to understand. Add Nitrogen gas and this is a incredibly remarkable gas that has a huge vibrance point being in our warm atmosphere.

      1. That equation refers to the reality objects can approach the speed of light but never reach it, overwhelmed by its mass.
It also refers to futility of government growing bigger and bigger chasing ideas of fascist justice, overwhelmed by its mass.
One is as inevitable as the other, though I’m not sure about e=mc-squared.

        1. Yes, but it also explains why there is so much energy liberated in nuclear reactions.

Einstein’s equation helps scientists understand what happens in nuclear reactions and why they produce so much energy. When the nucleus of a radioisotope undergoes fission or fusion in a nuclear reaction, it loses a tiny amount of mass. What happens to the lost mass? It isn’t really lost at all. It is converted to energy. How much energy? E = mc2. The change in mass is tiny, but it results in a great deal of energy.

That is, 16.5 billion kJ of energy are given off every time 1 mol of uranium-235 undergoes this nuclear reaction. This is an extraordinary amount of energy. Compare it to combustion reactions of hydrocarbons, which give off about 650 kJ/mol of energy for every CH2 unit in the hydrocarbon—on the order of hundreds of kilojoules per mole. Nuclear reactions give off billions of kilojoules per mole.

Nuclear fusion and nuclear fission result in a mass change, Δm, between the starting and end products. The loss of mass produces energy E = Δm c2, where c equals the speed of light. As a consequence of this Einstein relation, the mass of 1 kg can be converted into an energy of about 9 × 1016 J or 25 × 109 kWh.

  5. It’s called magical thinking and every government in Canada endorses the alternatives to switched on full time fully functioning energy supply. It has happened before; see Lysenkoism.

      1. In trying to change our society for what politicians want will not work as the technology they want to change to is more destructive and unattainable.
Your right and it will leave us to starvation as our heavily indebted governments suck every asset we have as they have all these programs and government agencies to pay for.
