  16. Not too long ago, most policeman would have refused to take these actions. They actually believed that their job was to serve and to protect. Enforcing unclear and legally questionable ‘orders and mandates’ is not serving or protecting nor is it effective police work. We saw this in Calgary last week with the young skater and today in Gatineau. I am glad my father is not around to see this. His best friend was the police commissioner for Halifax. He would have never directed his force to do what the police in Canada are doing today. My father also often said that the only difference between a policeman and a thug was the uniform (something if you consider he was a senior naval officer). I did not agree with him then but I do now. Imagine a Christmas celebration being torn apart that way. We must make this stop. Please write to your leaders and let them know this is wrong. Sorry for the rant but I found that video very upsetting. And a Happy New Year. Looks like we need it.

Fact of the matter, it’s way worse than you think. If I told you of the graft of the masses who collect government benefits I administer you would be appalled. If I were to tell you of the unaccounted for millions of dollars wasted on military bullshit that does absolutely zero to protect this country you would be floored. I voluntarily agreed to work for these orgs. I’m complicit. When I see these things I’m absolutely disgusted however I’m not sure how to extricate myself from the systems that bread my butter. I have a wife and three kids. Two homeschooled thank god. If the cops show up I’m all smiles. I’m a thought criminal writ large. Advice welcome, keep it practical.

        1. An option for the police would be to issue the ticket, amount being punitive, and don’t take action that puts enforcement of the law in disrepute. Think about high speed chases, called off when probability of harm is too great. The odds for six people in the house being more dangerous to the public than a breakdown of respect for the law seems out of balance to me.
          Not that I agree with the lock down or the over the top reaction to an illness that isn’t much more lethal than some of the last seven pandemics we lived through.
