Polarization as strategy – No other way to interpret activist loathing of Shell’s voluntary “Drive Carbon Neutral” plan

Shell offers consumers a choice to pay more at the pumps with funds going to a reforestation project. A voluntary carbon tax – yet attacked by activists because it allows Shell to live. Time to lay bare the real motives of activists. Read on…

  1. Since Shell is so convinced driving cars is destroying the world, they convinced me. I will get on board. I won’t buy Shell gas – to hell with 2 cents. I spent years avoiding Petro Canada stations before the government sold it. I can avoid Shell now.

    1. Right into the CEO and boards pockets.
They are not a charity but can designate 1% or less and say that they do like Trudeau and the Clinton Charities do.
Business is ruthless and low profits in oil industry makes for inventive ways in profits.

    2. I avoided Shell for years. It has been quite some time since they went down the Gaia rabbit hole.

  2. Once you reconcile with the fact that ALL these leftist groups have but ONE goal – tearing down the established infrastructure, then you don’t have to waste time trying to interpret & analyze the minutiae. That is simply an unnecessary distraction.

In every instance they’re simply throwing crap out in the street, and while others are cleaning it up they’ve moved on.

  3. Like all shitty corporate pandering the voluntary moron tax will soon be found in all places.

    Then it will become mandatory.

Then it will be found to be corrupt somewhere along the line. For example poorly planted forests wither while green activist forest planting companies profit richly.

Then the mandatory moron tax will double to repair the never-prosecuted damage and the green activists buy bigger yachts.

  4. I hate the validation on your site Terry. My wife has a business account, so I can’t post with this handle there. And the act of logging in causes it to erase my comment. Good article, and I’m happy to read there to give you the hits, but I’m unable to respond there. My comment:

It’s almost as though it’s not about a cleaner world and free choices, it’s about forcing others to do the environmentalist’s will.

  5. Actually, I like the idea of a voluntary green tax. Everyone who wants to be taxed can pay a green tax, maybe like a 10% guilt tithe added to income tax! They will get gold “I paid” stickers for their bumpers.

The rest of us will choose to not pay and everyone will be happy, right? The mafia/PRC will print fake gold stickers for us to protect us from social shaming.

  6. Death Eater is a good handle for environmentalists. If you are impure in their minds they get to kill you.

Unlike Scar, I won’t shit on Shell for their efforts. Its a positive token for the average shlub who needs to make themselves feel better. (Not me.) Ironically Shell might increase their profits because of it while getting to brag about all the actual trees they planted.
    With other people’s money.

  7. Sorry, I won’t be attending this year’s pity party for Shell Oil.
Whenever I see a multinational bragging about their leadership in “renewables” it’s usually code for “we’re fixin’ to skin you alive with higher energy costs” and all that after they use our money to subsidize their projects.
And if the upper echelon eggheads of Shell haven’t figured out the real intent of enviro nut jobs is to see them dead and gone and I mean that literally…well, they really do have a problem.
Pro tip: When a Chief of some mythical nation gives you an endorsement…it’s usually a turnoff for folks like me.

Lol…now look what you’ve done, you pissed off Greta.

    1. Hey burton, let’s face it, anything that can be done to piss off those idiots is always a bonus as far as I’m concerned.

  8. that whole article is bullshit, as it is written from the perspective that there is an actual problem to be solved, and there ain’t!

  9. The Shell board should be taken out and shot by the shareholders.

How about offering customers cheaper gas. What a novelty

  10. Most senior officers at major oil companies are political animals first where other considerations like shareholder value accountability, ethical reporting and having a firm grasp of technical realities are much lower down if even present at all. Alberta is in the shape it is BECAUSE almost all of the gutless please our enemies so they eat us last senior oil company officers REFUSED to take a stand to protect Canada’s energy industry against the endless media fed lies from the Radical Left. Instead they hung on long enough to get the big payouts to pad their nests before it all totally falls apart. Despicable behaviour from those who pretended to be industry leaders but who were really just cowards. CO2 IS NOT A POLLUTANT! THEY should have FOUGHT that LIE in court and in the open. SHELL’s future is exactly that now. An empty shell.

  11. The plan is for the People’s Republic of China to be in a position to defeat the United States in war and conquer the west within a generation. To achieve this the west must be starved of energy to allow the dragon to gorge on hydrocarbons at a fraction of their fair value.

Our masters know what they are doing. Selling the bones of their fathers to please their pig-faced, vermin-eating Oriental fantasies in the flesh.

    1. Actually the Chinamen dont need to go to war.
Just screw us up internally so we war among ourselves as a Civil War 2.0 and watch it all burn to the ground.
Throw in a few nasty plagues to wipe out the stragglers then invade under the UN umbrella as saviors come to help us poor Westerners. ( or some version of fookery along those lines )
Why nuke us and ruin all that prime farmland and infrastructure .

  12. Martin, much of the “green” schiff is driven by big lawyers, as they win if they win, and they win if they lose. They always get rich, and mostly off your and my dime

    1. I’m sorry, NME666. You prefer to believe “the Jews” are responsible for all this, I know.

The Chinese are the Jews you were warned about by the pedophile priest you spent your boyhood fluffing in the sacristy. Clannish, tight-fisted, convinced on the evidence of nothing but their own vanity of their superiority, and blessed with all the empathy of a snake. A people after our own masters’ hearts. They are looking forward to Chinese domination—and the final blotting out of the Name of the God of the Jews.

  13. Bottom line to me is that after a period of say 12 months Shell will have statistical data showing what percentage of their clientele are concerned enough about their own carbon footprint to volunteer their own after tax dollars to offset it.
My guess is less than 10% will pay the voluntary tax which provides a legitimate indication of the public concern about their own personal carbon footprint.
Time for a poll (as useless as they are on predicting election outcomes) to see what SDA readers think will the % of purchases that volunteer to pay the tax.
The anticipated low participation in paying the tax is what has inflamed the greens as it will demonstrate the low impact of their propaganda.
