All In This Together

Marni Soupcoff;

We have been asked by the government to make many sacrifices to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. This was possible — if not exactly easy — to abide in the early days of the pandemic because there was an underlying assumption that: 1) all of us would be sacrificing; and 2) while all of us were sacrificing, the government would be working furiously and with ruthless efficiency to get itself ready to fight COVID-19.

Now we know there was no basis for either of these assumptions.

  1. Of course, the un-rich are expected to sacrifice because we have so much experience with it.

    1. But Canadians are willing to do it.

      I heard the other day how one person was willing to cancel Christmas over this. Anyone that stupid is walking Darwin award.

      As for the “we are all in this together” nonsense, have that @$$hole work in an old people’s home for five minutes and watch him fall to pieces.

  2. I work (for now) as a beverage alcohol supplier in the hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is expected to have at least 30% reduction in size by next spring and I have seen estimates up to 60% depending on how long indoor dining is restricted. Most of my circle of friends work in medicine and are absolutely clueless as to how dire other sectors are. Casual dining at independent restaurants will be a thing of the past as that part of the industry will suffer the greatest decline. The future will either be takeout or more expensive high end dining.

    1. Restaurants are still not open? Wow. Is that true across Canada? (I don’t live on the border anymore.)

      1. The relevant regulations are in provincial jurisdiction, so it varies across the country, and can vary within a province if the health authorities decided local conditions justify it. Where restaurants are allowed to serve customers on the premises they are typically restricted to much reduced capacity for diners.

  3. I will never get tired of reading articles where the author is: 1) surprised that government is wholly incompetent, and 2) that Liberals are corruptible elitists.

    Where do they get these people from? Quebec?

    1. “… the virus doesn’t attack Justin’s friends. …”

      If anyone or anything does I shall be glad to hear of it.

  4. Anyone who trusts or relies on the government, – for anything – is an utter idiot and is part of the problem.

  5. Today, in an interview on CHED in Edmonton, Trudeau was asked four questions, he talked a lot about nothing, so four was all they could fit in. Aside from the destruction of Alberta and Saskatchewan being the fault of Western Politicians (he used the the stop hitting yourself playground bully Kafka trap).

    Trudeau was asked why he prorogued parliament for so long.

    His answer to the prorogation was that his government need time to work as hard as possible on our pandemic response.

    The interviewers never really followed up (again words words words). But what exactly did these idiots do for all those weeks? Nothing, nothing, and more nothing. Oh that and a ‘toxic’ plastics ban.
