    2. Rural occupation army? Why didn’t the make believe conservative Kenney use these 300 as the core of a new Alberta Provincial Police? Because it’s about control of rural Alberta, not protecting rural Alberta. If they added 10,000 RCMP they would not solve one more crime. Why? Because the whole point of the RCMP is not to solve crime. They don’t even try.

    3. Where are the rcmp going to get new cops? They can hardly fill a troop let alone assign new recruits to Alberta.

      If the truth were known I’ll bet that on ANY GIVEN DAY the rcmp is understaffed in Alberta by 25-30%. Every time there is an ’emergency’ cops are dispatched from rural detachments. Many are off on stress leave in fact it’s said that in BC as many as 30% are on stress leave at any one time. The rcmp model is broken and cannot be fixed.

        If the cabinet is nervous about the scandal effecting their seat there could be a push to kick certain unelected individuals out of caucus meetings if not the PMO.

        Expect a cabinet shuffle if rumours of dissent in the caucus get out.

  11. Just announced, Charlie Daniels has died from a stroke at age 83. Another irreplaceable legend of the music industry has left the building. Had the privilege of attending a concert in Winnipeg many years ago. Many people dancing howdown style in front of the stage. At the end of Cabbala Diablo I threw my cowboy hat in the air and alas, it landed on top of a speaker stack. Before continuing, Charlie stopped and sent a roadie up the stack to retrieve the hat announcing to the crowd, “sorry but it’s important for a fella to get his hat back”!
    A gracious man and strong defender of our freedoms. He will no doubt RIP.

    1. Not only was Charlie Daniels a great entertainer he was a solid conservative voice. He was writing as recent as a couple of weeks ago. He was a good old country boy who knew how to live.

      I never saw him play live but one morning years ago I was at the checkout desk at the Hotel Saskatchewan and Charlie came up and stood beside me squaring up his bill. His band had played a gig the night before on their, “How the West Was Won” tour. He was a BIG man. We said hello and when I left his tour bus was outside. They were off to the next gig, – maybe Winnipeg?

    For the next years he continued to affirm that Leeds had died until 1738 when he actually passed on. Franklin congratulated the person who had usurped Leeds name for finally ending his pretense.

Perhaps the Young Liberals did it, since Blackie was so against the memorial in the first place. Meanwhile the memorial to police and firefighters in Calgary has been vandalized.
