Hanging by a chain wrapped around Macdonald’s feet, the sign has a message acknowledging the “harmful legacy” of Canada’s first prime minister and says the City of Regina will seek advice from Indigenous elders, artists, community members and other cultural groups.

I’ve really grown to hate this country. This might be the most depressing Canada Day yet.
hvb … the country is fine …. great even … it is down to some of the nitwits living in it & I am certain that it is a relatively small but vocal minority.
I’m going to disagree with you on this. The amount of Canadian voters that voted for the Liberals, NDP, and Green Party in the last election tell me all I need to know. The amount of “Old Stock Canadians” filled with self hatred can’t be overcome, not in this generation anyhow.
The media has been bought off and the few sane voices left are drowned out.
Name one good thing Canada has ever done for Alberta. Just one.
Canada has stolen a Trillion dollars from Alberta and prevents Alberta from making a living at her primary industry. I HATE Canada.
Threw a wet blanket on the whisky trade along the boarder in the late nineteenth century? Was that a good thing? Had I been a young man there at the time, I am sure I wouldn’t have thought so.
Hvb, I have been working for small-c conservativism — I have been working hard at it — since 1988, and I still love Canada. I say this as an immigrant who came alone and in poverty, in 1970. I have seen the Laurentian elite sleaze all of that time, and I hate the dominant left-wing sleaze. But the country is much more than the sleaze. Much, much more.
Happy Canada Day everybody.
DM: I am also trying to be optimistic. From what I have seen so far in the many emails from Erin O’Toole to Conservative Party members, I have to say I am impressed. He has taken actual conservative positions on many issues, which, not surprisingly, are opposed by the mainstream media. But that is a good sign, since he does not feel the need to kow-tow to the media cartel in the way that Peter MacKay does. Although O’Toole has weaknesses, as is often pointed out in this forum, he definitely will change Canada’s course to a better one, should he win the leadership and then the federal election.
Harper won his 2011 majority with about 40% of the popular vote, as did Trudeau in 2015. Together Scheer & Bernier got 36% of the vote in 2019. O’Toole could win a majority of the seats in the next election with 40% of the popular vote. I believe that it is real possibility.
Ottawa MG – you are hoping for a fantasy. The only candidate the Liberals and lamestresm mafia will have trouble destroying is Leslyn Lewis. However she is vulnerable because of her pro-life / Christian views. She would present a somewhat more difficult target , but I don’t think the CPC is smart enough to choose her.
It was fun on Parliament Hill, a demonstration of mad right-wing extremists 🙂 I fit right in.
I didn’t stay for the 2nd half to see Mad Max as the demo took a turn and all followed a guy who had just filed (electronically) a complaint with the AMAC Free Trade deal about Trudeau’s corruption (apparently there is a clause in the treaty) and they all hauled off to the US Embassy to symbolicly present it.
Was it a good turnout? I hope so. I was not able to go. Very nice to see a demonstration on the right.
Even if we do separate from Kanuckistan, we’ll then have to cull our municipal governments. I read that those who want radical leftist agendas find municipal politics the place to push it.
I used to be a proud Canadian ,today can’t stand the phucking place.
I have travelled a similar path. I think Canadians have lost their country, though many do not yet realize it. Very sad, really.
This is the first Canada/x-Dominion Day that I haven’t celebrated in 60 years.
It will take generations or some big natural event to change things.
Reminds me of the Lion King cartoon where a once beautiful landscape was turned desolate after the jackals were in power.
I do detested what this country had become under PET that I cheered for the Soviets in that early ’70s hockey tournament.
It’s not Canada Day, It’s Dominion Day.
Canada Day is just another construct conceived in Trudeau Pere’s addled mind.
I still say (or respond as required) Happy Dominion Day.
Calling it (Name of Country) Day is as lame as one can get.
I lost my Great Grandparents and many Great Uncles and Aunts in the Ukraine genocide of 1932 and 1933. My Grandparents and my Mother and Father and Myself moved on with our lives. It is history and wise men learn from History. The FN should move on with their lives and quit wallowing in self pity brought on by misfortune as a result of bad habits. It’s a statue. FFS. The FN have opportunities not offered to other people in the country, so they should take advantage of it, move forward and stop concentrating on the past instead of the future. For their children’s sake.
As you no doubt are aware, the Ukrainian Genocide cannot be included on the politically-correct, government-sanctioned list of grievances in Canada, nor can the many others that brought immigrants to Canada from Europe.
I am reading a book about that: Borderland: A Journey through the History of the Ukraine by Anna Reid. Heartbreaking and shocking. Most people are unaware of the turmoil experienced by these people. It should be wake up call to make people making them aware that destroying nations (as Canadians now seem to want to do) can have dire consequences. Canada has not been perfect, but it’s Anglo/French Christian heritage has created a very livable country where many people — including immigrants have thrived. We should be valuing our history, rather than tearing it apart.
What a bunch of negative Nellies!
Get in the spirit.
Let’s all sing O Canada!
Err………anybody know the words?
I think the first lines are:
O Canada!
A nation that has failed.
Anarchy reigns
And racism prevails.
Anybody know the rest?
How about from BC
home home on the coast
where the queers and the tree huggers boast
where seldom is heard an encouraging word
and the sky’s are all cloudy and grey
Hehehehe!
Oh Cann-a-bis,
Our home on Native land…
Got some Gubmint Skunk
And rolled a blunt by hand
Gimme CERB to procure more herb
Then we’ll occupy the streets
Etc
The voices of 10,000 Canadians singing “Oh Canada”
Oh Canada, hummm, hummm, humhummm
…and stand on guard, oh Cannabis,
to defund the police…
I tried watching the CBC Canada Day special, but turned it off after about five minutes. Hosted in diverse Toronto, because when you think Canada, you think Toronto. Black woman starts off singing the new gender neutered anthem and a few pictures of Great Leader shown. Then I turned it off when they announced that they would concentrate on stories on how we are racist bastards. I think I will just concentrate on relaxing at my white privilege cottage on the lake and drink gin and tonics. Is gin and tonic a white privilege drink??
I may be worse off than you.
Like Trump I have a Russian problem.
Even worse, Black Russians.
Sadly, such firewater is a requirement in the quest to make current Canada the least bit palatable.
G&T. That was my summer in the bush beverage. Slice of lime. Put the Schweppes in the lake to cool in the shade in the AM, or peel back some bog moss to get the still frozen ground underneath. Schweppe holes. Gin in a separate one to cool. Yukon, just find some sheltered snow or ice at 7000+ ft. Wear your glacier goggles.
A large bottle of Schweppes contains 18mg of Dioxychloroquine.
It’s a way the colonials beat malaria and had fun at the same time. The Tonics, quinine is the natural version of Orange Man Bad Hidroxychloroquine and the gin the the natural version of sloes slowly fermented; really requires ice.
heh if colonialism were a beverage
So how many Torontonians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Just one
one to hold the bulb while the world revolves around it.
Ynot, good one!
Tonic water has a slight tinge to it … unlike WHITE club soda. So you’re good there. Now, the Gin … damn! dats some White on White whiteness right there!
OTOH … I doubt any First Nations celebrant would turn down a G+T at the local watering hole
Having the luxury of a glass implies white privilege.
🙂
“Is gin and tonic a white privilege drink?”
Of course it is you racist bastard!! I’ll join you in one. Happy post national national day.
What is this cbc you talk of?
Add a statue of Riel to the place.
Discussions of the mottled history of the west would naturally follow.
40 years ago the statue of Louis Riel at the Manitoba Legislature was reputed to be a great place for anonymous butt sex. Somehow I doubt there is a shortage of butt sex in Regina so they don’t need a Riel statue. That statue in Winnipeg was the ugliest piece of shit passing for art and has since been replaced. The old ugly one was relocated to St. Boniface, the neighborhood where the old traitor is buried.
Given his fight was against they bustards who were coming in from Ontario and working on changing everything to do locals out of their land, I see him as more of a Western patriot. Many years ago, read a book written by a descendent of the Selkirk settlers about the time Canada took over from HBC. I gather there was a lot of sympathy for Riel amongst those living along the Red River.
Well, I just imagined a school class being given
a nice Canadian gloss on the two famous men, when some
kid at the back says
“My dad said that this guy had that guy hanged”
&
While checking the famous quote:
“He shall hang though every dog in Quebec bark in his favour.”
I came across some Quebecers who might be allies of Wexiteers here:
https://aqi.quebec/resources/the-yes-book/
Anglophones for Quebec independence.
I’m an Alberta separatist. I do not identify as a Canadian. When I’m asked if I’m a Canadian citizen citizen at border crossings I just say “I’m from Alberta.”
Exactly.
So how many new pick-up trucks for Chief Big Screen TV will erase Macdonald’s “injustices”?
I hope the City of Regina’s message is “If you want a statue removed you petition for it’s removal and the decision will follow the democratic process.”
Put the question to a referendum and see if there are enough “old stock” Canadians left that care to respond.
What will be the response of the Sask. Party government say in the face of Maoist Mobs taking over ?
Bended knee ? Or stand bravely, and face down the Maoists? Voters are watching…
Let’s make Canada Great Again!
1. Defund CBC
2. End Media subsidies
3. Teach history not “social studies” in schools
4. End systemic racism (delete SS 15(2) of the Charter, revoke the Indian Act)
5. Recognize achievement (no more participation medals)
6. Reinvest university funding in grievance studies in STEM and trades at institutions committed to free speech
7. Allow admission into University based on standardized tests.
Happy Dominion Day!
I would add the following:
Never vote for a party led by someone from Quebec.
Have a provision in government tenders that if you do business in China, you can’t get a Federal government contract whether it is tendered it or it is single sourced.
Cull the number of universities and reform Departments of Education. Undergraduate departments in the social sciences are merely the finishing schools of public school indoctrination.
What about the native slavery when natives enslaved each other?
Any word on which race grifter is being consulted on that?
Lemme guess, send money?
How about a shout out to the British Empire and Royal Navy and the thousands of white Christian men who died stopping the slave trade at sea?
Any word on if they are consulting anyone on that?
“The West Africa Squadron: The British Royal Navy’s Deadly Battle To End The Slave Trade”
https://allthatsinteresting.com/west-africa-squadron
Thank a teacher for ensuring that the population knows nothing about any of that.
Someone living in Vagina should purchase the statue and display it on private property. The public square is the political square and today’s politicians are either part of, or afraid of the media, Indians, academics, unions, and all the other members of the institutional left and that problem won’t go away in a separate independent jurisdiction. All statues and historical artifacts should be privatized along with most everything else. The larger the public square, the more reliance on the state and the smaller the citizens become.
Happy Dominion Day!
Heh – I’m from Alberta but currently stuck working downtown Halifax during this COVID thing, so today just before lunch allot of people were gearing up for some sort of Canada Day celebration with their kids at the waterfront park. I’m standing on my apartment balcony watching events when a whole slew of chanting retards (maybe 100) with BLM + Aboriginal rights + Palestinian flag waving signs come storm-tromping up Lower Water St, with several cop cars trailing behind, herding them.
What struck me was the leaders of the group consisted of one black woman and 4 or 5 hijabs followed by the pasty white rest with their pink and blue hair. The hijabs were on the megaphones leading the chanting something like -“Colonialism is stolen land” over and over. And I kept think, “well get the f*ck off it then.”
Anyway, the Hijabs led them all into the Park with all the families and whatever little show they had going, and they “occupied it”
So disinterested I came back inside while they screamed and nattered and occasionally glimpsed the families & kids slowly wander off for somewhere else. Now less than 2 hours later, the “Halifax Occupy Movement” finally realized they had no audience and a slowly disbanded themselves. Now I have another quite peaceful view of the park and harbor, it’s completely empty.
Anyway, just today’s comment of the weird, I’m guessing the retards won’t figure out that they didn’t make any extra friends for their cause today, but that’s their problem………
Canada’s golden days are over.
Liberal rule of this country has finally destroyed it.
We are not as one people any more. Being from Ontario, but lived in 5 different provinces, I can fully understand the west finally saying enough and FU to the Laurentian elites that have run this country to the ground while enriching their personal wealth to international champaign standards while on a Canadian beer budget. How do they do that? We needed term limits to survive…
I tried an experiment yesterday, I opposed a tweet about the ‘plight of migrant workers in Ontario’ – had a hundred Unme’s, Ken & Karen’s attacking saying what a horrible person I was for saying ‘Ban migrant workers’ – lol called me names for me pointing out that we should be picking our own fruits and veggies when we have an on the books 14% unemployment rate and likely 50% in reality… but they just kept piling on – none who weren’t my followers RTd my comments or liked them.
I just pointed out that a country printing billions to live on NOW; with a high unemployment rate has no business importing migrant workers to pick our food for us… how arrogant we are.
Pride cometh before the fall – or so I’ve heard.
Fun times on twatter 🙂
PS Happy Canada Day nonetheless 🙂
In Regina?
More proof that western separatists may have waited too long to act. It has amazed me how many of my fellow westerners have turned a blind eye to the depth of leftardism already infecting every western province. Some twist themselves into pretzels trying to explain away Albertans voting in an NDP government or the fact Calgarians have seemingly forever been voting in the ‘progressiver-than-thou’ Nenshi. Then there are the ones who piously piss on parts of BC because they think none of their province’s shit stinks. Personally, I no longer see much of a difference between the ‘progressivism’ in Victoria and that in Edmonton…. or now in Regina, for that matter.
Celebrating Canada:
++++++++++++++++
A timely piece on CBC news about how racist Canada is and evil, too.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/canada-day-indigenous-communities-1.5632546
Yeah, John A MacDonald deserves a shot of whiskey today!
Oh my, what a bunch of govern-“mental” losers we have on Canada Day no less.
Well my regulation issue Canadian Naval Ensign (circa 1868-1921 design) has now arrived and is flying next to the Jack Rackham “Jolly Roger”. “Just-in” time to end this ridiculous folly.
You don’t learn from history, by trying to COMMUNISTICALLY ERASE it…you useless offensive wankers.
Send all the Regina twats to fulsome Canadian history lessons.
Cheers
Hans Rupprecht – Commander-in-Chief
Army Group “True North”
1st Saint Nicolaas Army
My forefathers were Germans from Russian. They, like many Germans were cajoled into emigrating to Russia during the Catherine years.
In the 1890’s my great grandfathers could see trouble on the horizon and vowed that their sons would not serve in the czars army (Germans were promised exemption from military service as a condition of moving to Russia). They crossed the Atlantic and arrived at Ellis Island. They made their way north and took out homestead land in Manitoba.
Is Canada perfect? Of course it’s not. I question the very reason for it’s existence. Why does Canada exist?
Canada is rich. Beyond imagination for most of the worlds population. It is also poorly governed. Think of how much better it could be?
Having said that and without dwelling or devolving into politics, Canada is a great place to live in spite of our politics. I’m thankful to be Canadian.
These days lots of people seem pretty qualified to judge everybody, past and present.
Especially the We Were Here First Nations Grievance Industry, brought to you by the over-burdened taxpayers of Canada.
Right behind them are every single “racialized” immigrant who demands immediate equity, brought to you by the over-burdened taxpayers of Canada.
Followed by the Urban Crying Karens of Quim Studies from any university in the Great White Lie brought to you by the overburdened taxpayers of Canada.
Its like feeding a dog who doesn’t just bite you, but kills and eats you along with your whole genetic line.
Gonna workout, then I’m going to start drinking. No racist gin and tonic, no racist India pale ale, just a couple gallons of pilsner and ale.
Happy C Day you racist bastards!
Cheers Kate!
Seriously, happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends here. Perhaps you can take a bit of comfort from the fact that Canada is the only country that I know of that has a melody that draws rather heavily on music by Mozart:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFxc2HoyH-0
That is interesting Iowa Jim; the exact same notes to start.
“The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which, words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier”
The song was officially made our national anthem in 1980.
Want to celebrate Canada Day? Just attend a protest. Toronto members of council banned any Canada Day events, but these same members of council are attending a demonstration today against racism. And I hope everyone enjoyed the speeches from the Governor General and also from the Grand Poobah Of Whiny Indians, who ranted about Canadians being racist bastards.
Last week the “New French” took a day off to drink and curse the English and Jews. This week they’re taking a day off to drink and curse the Americans that they fiddled out of the spoils of war.
By rights everything from the Arctic to the Rio Grande should be a single, free, prosperous, English-speaking nation where French is heard only in tourist traps.
I’ll be spending “Canada Day” praying it’s the last, before President Trump, armed with a mandate from the silent majority of both countries, sends a few good men to put Trudeaupia out of business and bring English-speaking north Americans into the fullness of their inheritance.
I’ll offer the same greetings I do on every July 1st.
Happy Dominion Day
I’ve spent the day doing the most Canadian thing: On my cedar deck.
Unfortunately it is not drinking G&T’s or other beverages of choice. Working on my deck. Changing the colour adding some hidden lighting (the Great Idea Machine is a killer!). Of course the timing belt on my belt sander went flat, close to the end so used the palm sander, I’m still vibrating.
It seems that this is the best way to spend the day, doing something that is naturally Canadian.
Happy Dominion Day. Blow off the *’s and enjoy yourselves!
Just to throw some gas on the fire and really start the fireworks show how about this little ditty.

or better yet this one,

And if I’ve offended you with this post please take note I don’t give a Tinker’s Damn!
It’s History and as much as it may offend your snowflake sensibilities no matter how you try to erase it, it happened, live with it.
I liked the arrangement for pipes and band that was used as the theme for the old History Television series For King and Empire:

Maybe it was the one in the second video.
Given your affection for the Maple Leaf, you should wax indignant at
the use by some of our capitalist icons of that usurper, the Norway maple.

Happy Turdholeland Day to all Turdholelanders… Peeair would be so proud of his mentally unstable Post National Genocidal State.
I remember when Canada was abolished back in 1982 and replaced with Turdholeland, what a great day for french speaking Queerbek, the FLQ and their cult leader, Peeair the Turdhole. ITs on this very special Turdholeland Day that we should all remember and give thanks to how much better Queefbekers are than the rest of us, because as the blackfaced asshole says, “this country it belongs to us…” it sure does Juthtin. Happy Turdholeland Day everyone.
Bad puns do not a revolution make.
My Dominion day celebrations have so far consisted of taking a wide assortment of my pistols to the range so that my friend could figure out what pistol his wife would most like to have, now that she has finally decided she is probably going to need one…because IPSC is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
I had never seen her shoot before so I insisted that they show me she could be safe with a single shot 22 before we went to the semi autos. No problems. An apt, intelligent, no nonsense student. After a few mags of s/a 22, much to my surprise she ignored all the ladies guns in .32 .38 spec. and .380 I had brought and went for the 9mm Browning and by the third magazine she was hitting the six inch plates almost as often as her husband, who’s accuracy has suffered much from six years of almost no shooting. Then she found a 45 commander that she liked the fit and balance of and shot three consecutive magazines of IPSC compliant loads without a miss. Never have I seen a new shooter show greater aptitude or make more rapid progress. Soon an Alberta beef stake with a glass of my best blackberry wine, and if I can just avoid politics, Best Dominion day in many years.
F the city of Regina.
Riel lived a long life. In Manitoba in the 1860’s and 70’s he was unequivocally a patriot and a hero, and it’s right to remember him as such. In the Territories in the 1880’s, even if you find his cause sympathetic, he was responsible for serious crimes and was clearly a traitor. By then he had not set foot in Manitoba for many years, and from a Manitoba point of view it’s somebody else’s problem. They are no more wrong to regard him as a hero than you are to regard him as a traitor. He was both. Manitoba benefited greatly from his heroism and didn’t suffer in the slightest from his treason. You may be differently situated, but that doesn’t make them wrong.
Did we just have Canada/Dominion/Dear Leader Day. I guess I missed it. A neighbour was rebuilding his deck so went and helped him the last few days. I would consider that time better spent.
