Ain’t that the truth.
I was trying to make sense of the rent relief suggestions. Is he seriously saying that the government will pay part of commercial rents, and these will be half of what they were before the pandemic? How does the government propose to enforce that? Seems like an over-reach to me — my guess is that most landlords can’t just afford to go without their rents or half of their rents for prolonged periods. They would probably have tried to work out an emergency relief ad hoc anyway, I mean what else can they do, there is no market of alternative renters out there.
This will all descend into financial chaos if they don’t move things quickly back to status quo, and even then, damage has been done both to cash flows and customer loyalty. Not everyone is going to say the day after restrictions are lifted, okay, I’m gonna mingle like crazy now. Some (especially older people) are probably going to take a wait and see approach. I’d like to see a return to normalcy but you know, you go first sort of a thing.
The only thing that will surprise me is if Butts is doing a perp walk in cuffs, and it turns out the Gerald can only clear himself if the sock monkey can verify his alibi but by doing so would incriminates himself in a worse crime.
If I had the time and inclination I’d get the lyrics for that old Who’s song, “Substitute”, rework them a bit, and title it Presstitute.
