Showing Up To Riot

Examiner;

Claiming “enough is enough,” Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. is taking legal action against several media outlets for “fake news” reports that he irresponsibly reopened the school amid the coronavirus outbreak, sickening students.

In aggressive actions, the school pushed for and won two arrest warrants against a New York Times freelance photographer and a ProPublica reporter and threatened to sue the New York Times if it doesn’t retract its March 29 story that the school brought students back after spring break, “then students started getting sick.”

Falwell ripped the reports as “fake news” and told Secrets, “The bottom line is that we have no students with COVID-19, no symptoms. And it’s so sad that they want to try to turn this into something political.”

  1. New York Slime and the other Democrat propaganda outlets make up lies all the time and usually get away with it. If enough people fight back then maybe it will stop.

    1. Then double down with the bald face lies when called out.

Unfortunately, 99.999% of media news is either a Demoncrap or a Lieberal mouthpiece.

  2. Honest headline “Showing up to get your ass kicked in court”

“we have no students with COVID-19”

    He doesn’t know that.

Falwell is another idiot who has pretended this pandemic was a nothingburger well past the expiration date of that nothingburgher. Further he has misled people in regards to this issue: https://www.thedailybeast.com/jerry-falwell-misled-me-on-reopening-liberty-university-city-manager-says

“Liberty’s plan currently is to reopen the school’s dormitories to incoming students, but classes and other campus gatherings will be held online or canceled altogether. Nonetheless, experts told The Daily Beast that clustering students in on-campus housing poses extreme and unnecessary risks and will almost surely lead to more cases of the virus among the student body.”

    1. Hey Shill,

How about you look around each and every college, trade school, seminary and university campus across the world and tell all of us how the international students are not there anymore. SAIT here in Calgary has student housing which has many international students who were unable to leave due to high infection rates of their native homelands. They have nowhere to go, but stay in the student dormitories.

Would you maybe think this is the case at Liberty as well?

If you want to make statements about things which you have no idea you are speaking about, you truly show your continued ignorance and pettiness.

By the way, my wife, who works at SAIT (from home now) has insider info to many more things like this which you have no clue about.

Your written opinion and link once again shows that you need to get out of you Mom’s basement and go interact with the real world.

Otherwise, shut your pie hole, please.

      1. Please read the article. Liberty “University” didn’t just let people who couldn’t leave stay but allowed people who wanted to come back. Read the article.

I have the feeling that this lawsuit will go as well for Falwell as PragerU’s idiotic lawsuits against YouTube went for Denis.

      2. I live in NB; I am a strong supporter of Donald Trump; and I have a PhD. (But Mr. Falwell should have kept the university closed).

    2. In this case, I have to agree with UnMe. It was reckless to re-open the university. If there are international students, well it is
understandable they have to stay(but practice social distancing) but the rest should have went home like the students in my province of NB, Canada.
PS: Trump is a blithering idiot, if you believe otherwise then you are a dumb as posts.

    3. The students living on campus have no other residence or safe residence. It is their home. My God man, you don’t have to be a dick every time.

    4. He doesn’t know that.

That’s irrelevant. What’s at issue is that the New York Times and ProPublica claimed,
      1) That LU reopened, and
      2) then students started getting sick.

Both of these are trivially provably false; Falwell has a case.

    5. Christians REALLY upset you, Unme. And, boy, do I enjoy it. Imagining your face turning red when anything to do with Christ upsets you to that extent is pretty much all the joy I get anymore.
Psst! Spread the word: CHRIST IS RISEN!

  3. The university’s website says they have no cases among resident students. They could have cases in the wider student body. Unless they are testing all their student they wouldn’t necessarily know. Mr. Falwell’s earlier assertions denying the seriousness of the situation leaves him open to this kind of criticism. Should be an interesting court case.

    1. “Should be an interesting court case.”

It is not a free press story. It is someone from a high risk population trespassing and endangering a low risk population.

      1. Interesting, good point. If the reporter spent a lot of time talking to different students, and turns out to have Wuhoo Flu, can the times be charged with use of a biologic weapon? If so, can the US nuke their headquarters? Pocket nuke of course. (/sarc)

      2. That’s why it’s interesting. People forget universities are private property, in this case managed by a zealot who downplayed the seriousness of the situation.

I guess we’ll see the consequences of Mr. Falwell’s decisions in the coming weeks. I suspect the almighty is wondering why He bothered to gift His flock with such big brains, given they seem reluctant to use them.

  4. Looks like the Examiner left out some details. What. A. Shock.

“”It is clear that Falwell is engaged in a campaign of petty retribution against journalists who write articles critical of the university,” says Ari Cohn, a free speech lawyer and former director at the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). “But that’s actually completely in line with Liberty University’s faux concern for freedom of expression. Falwell’s idea of freedom of expression on campus includes only expression that he approves of.”

The trespassing charges aren’t likely to hold up in court: The reporters involved were photographing a student who invited them to campus for an interview. But who really believes that the alleged trespassing is Falwell’s concern here? He wants to intimidate people who criticize his school.”

  5. Canadian’s bashing Trump… pissing into the wind.

Canadian’s saying nothing about Canada’s do nothing Prime Minister… must be kicking the dog – Trump. Displacement to cover their easy money guy’s tracks…

I can’t understand why Canadian’s are so focused on Trump. You shouldn’t really care in a way, it’s not your Country he leads.

You should focus on what is done or not done for Canadians.

If your focus as Canadian is not Canada; you are a fool.

    1. You’ll find that DJTrump is very popular among Canadians and they say so in comments on US websites regularly. You’ll also find that with the Libs having a slight edge over the Conservatives, too many Canadians are heavily influenced by our 100% Liberal-loving media.
And good ol’ American George S. swung our last election in Turdo’s favour. Money talks, and we don’t have that kind of influence.
