That exchange reminded me of Dim Campbell’s “maybe you need a hearing aid” debate performance during the 1993 election.
I love it when the left eats its own.
Yes! So does POTUS!
Speaking of Melania, can you imagine how the MSM would have gone completely gaga over her if she were only married to a Democratic president?
Forget Michelle Obama, Jacqueline Kennedy couldn’t touch her.
And speaking of Kennedy, old pun: Do you know why they call the Kennedy administration Camelot?
The closer you get to it, the more it smells like one.
J.F.K. was the king of Washington’s Camelot.
Here are some touching momentous photos from that era, likely some that has never been seen: https://youtu.be/GhvE2tmMEn0
BTW the Trumps know that the Press admires Mrs Trump from a distance. I read that that was okay with the Trumps. Melania has work to do and that is her focus now as the FLOTUS.
Otoh are the Press too diminished as a medium now? Think of the money lost by not publishing photos of a well turned out First Lady. Perhaps that’s too passé now for the Communists.
Nancy, I hope you and the Gateway Pundit are right. But I fear that the Bernie Sanders-Kamala Harris ticket will defeat Trump-Pence. And the Democrats will win both houses. More on this later. Today the news is about radical blockades and the coming coronavirus pandemic.
I recall that you wrote about a Sanders win before. As an American-Canadian you might have a better idea about this through contact with your American relatives. I grant you that.
I hope you’re all wrong, David.
Have you seen the crowds at Trump’s rallies though? The numbers don’t lie. If USA goes Marxist with Sanders it would have to be because of voter fraud, big time. There would be another Civil War in the States if Bernie, ahem, “won” the election in a landslide. Can you just imagine laws being reversed, massive regulations back from the Democrat era, job losses, the redistribution of wealth, food stamps and all the rest?
HRC was inconsolable when she lost in 2016 because her people didn’t stuff the ballot boxes enough imo. This time, in 2020, will some districts, no rather, all districts have 150% voter turnout? Who was it that said it’s ‘who’ counts the ballots that matters? Time will tell. Before we know it, it’ll be November. I can’t wait to see Trump debate the Democrat winner. If it’s Bernie he’ll get smashed because Sanders thinks like Trudeau, that budgets balance themselves. Sanders does not know money matters as well as Trump. Saw an interview with him recently and he dismissed the reporter about “nickels and dimes”– not a good look!
Yes, you’re right, right now Canada has big big issues here. We must stay vigilant and focus on them. Keeping one eye on America though.
That’s one reason I’m hesitant about Alberta becoming the 51st state. Governments change as do leaders. Trump’s in office now but he won’t be there forever.
And, yes, if a hard-core leftist Democrat (did I just repeat myself?) was to become President, there will likely be another American civil war.
At least in HRC’s case, the voter fraud wasn’t motivated by ideology but, instead, sheer vanity, much like a certain prime minister I could name.
I’m split about becoming a 51st State as well. Some Democrats have gone too far left. (Like AOC and that mean girl’s gang of hers)
Indeed, the same here with Trudeau’s Liberals, — way too lefty. What has happened to the middle of the road politicians? Even Bill Clinton once mused, “It’s the economy, stupid!” Or Ti Jean with his income trusts, to get the ethical oil & gas business going again here.
These are scary times.
David, think you are being WAY too pessimistic. You’ve said before you’re watching CBC and CNN where it’s all hate, all the time, hardly a source of factual information.
Sanders will not have the uniform support if Democrats, the moderates do not like him, and will stay home Election Day instead, realizing that their investments are in danger as well with an outright commie.
Berman has predicted Trump won’t get elected based on demographics, but he hasn’t considered the millions of blacks and latinos that will vote for Trump this time, thanks to the booming economy, he delivered what he promised.
Remember, the polls never favoured Trump last time either, pollsters traditionally oversample Democrats by 5-7 points.
No way in hell, on their own. But voter fraud will be real issue. Not enough to take down Trump, though. Very unlikely.
The Canadian economy is based on massive personal debt and over valued house prices. It wont be long before oil companies are declaring bankruptcy. Investment is fleeing.

Near my place Pier One, Lowe’s and Rona are closing.
And this happened:
Tuesday, February 25th @ ~ 3:45 pm MT:
Are there signs of a decaying economy and high unemployment in Alberta? It seems to be the case. Saw some action in Calgary recently. The economy is in decline and store merchants aren’t letting thieves go, apparently.
Noticed two guys down on the sidewalk struggling and fighting in the shopping district. One tied the other with a plastic zip tie then forcefully walked him across a street. There was blood oozing from the perp’s forehead. He looked like he was in a daze. This action was pretty shocking to see in the middle of the day. Cars stopped, rubber neckers stared.
Interestingly, two Good Samaritans got out of their cars to help. It happened so quickly that no help was required.
This is street life now- stuff you rarely see or hear about on the news. It’s nothing personal, just business, as they say.
This is the second time I see something like this going down in SW Calgary, in the last 2 years. They don’t fool around out here. Westerners are tough when they have to be in the wild wild west! Hope things improve. This incident occurred near a liquor store, btw. The perp must’ve been thirsty.
I live near Southgate Shopping Centre here in Edmonton. I couldn’t help but notice how many empty stores there are now.
A local jewelry chain closed its branch there after being there more than 20 years. The whole company (a family business, I think) is shutting down, from what I’ve heard.
Coles, which was there for at least a generation, packed up and left.
There’s no longer a greeting card shop at Southgate. The last one was having deep discount sale when I last passed by.
When Sears closed (which was originally Woodward’s and then Eatons), it became a furniture store. It lasted about 6 months and it’s now boarded up, presumably being renovated for who knows what.
A lot of smaller retail spaces are also closed and shuttered.
The only one that seems to being doing brisk business is the Apple store.
It’s all Harper’s fault, isn’t it? Sorry, Willy Porno, but your aid package isn’t going to fix this damage.
We’re just not used to it yet. Perhaps it’ll get worse before it gets better, I’m afraid. The Chinese Restaurants are suffering too, though for another reason, that being the Coronavirus pandemic, of course. Abt described last week how the one he frequents is experiencing a slowdown. The 2 or 3 around here are constantly direct mailing new menus. The prices have increased, naturally.
What’s this? You wrote:
” Sorry, Willy Porno, but your aid package isn’t going to fix this damage.” !!!!???
“Willy Porno?” You do mean Bill Morneau, right?
So what ‘s the gossip there? Was he caught reading Hustler or Penthouse? Ah hahaha! Do tell now! I’ve missed something, methinks!
“Willy Porno” was his high school nickname, apparently. No idea about how he got it.
I see….hahahaha! So did he!!
Tks, never read that anywhere!
The fast food outlets in Southgate seem to be managing, but most of those are franchise branches. A yogurt joint that was open for several years packed it in a few months ago. That space was temporarily occupied by Hickory Farms during the Christmas season but, now, it’s empty again.
Most of the stores, like the fast food places, are franchises, mainly in the rag trade or jewelry. I have no idea what their profit margins are, but they must be rather thin right now. How the independent merchants are managing to stay in business is a mystery.
As for WP’s nickname, I remember seeing something which included a picture from his high school yearbook and, sure enough, it was printed along with his picture.
The Mayor of Calgary Big Mr N was featured on the dinner hour news Monday night. He and some City Councillors went out for lunch to Chinatown on Monday to help support business there, it seems that they too are suffering. He told Calgarians to do so likewise and join in to support these places downtown.
(Wonder who paid for that? But, I digress)
Not to argue with your point, retail is in decline. The Canadian economy is a significant factor in the West, but traditional stores are also being hit by a shift to online sales (Amazon, Wayfair) The big retailers have on online presence. This has been going on for several years now.
Yes, of course.
However there’s a lot of poor quality merchandise being sold on line, I’d rather see what I’m buying. How does one return stuff? Who pays the freight? Then there are package thieves who follow the delivery trucks around. I never shop on line. Why make Amazon even wealthier, they practically have a monopoly.
Nancy:
It depends on what you’re buying. Some items simply aren’t available in regular stores. In other cases, there aren’t many dealers for them or those same dealers might be inconveniently located.
For example, Active Electronics closed its Edmonton branch 2 or 3 years ago. If I want to buy something from them, I’d have to order it through their website as driving to the Calgary outlet is a bit much.
After Active closed, there were 2 places here that sold electronic parts and connectors. One of them recently changed to a wholesaler, so that left just the other one. While that place might be located in my end of the city, it didn’t cater to the hobbyist or amateur radio market.
So what’s left?
B A @ 11:19
Yes, granted. For sure. Pretty soon there will be less brick and mortar stores. Nice, though, if orders are small enough and can be sent through the regular mail. I used to phone Montreal businesses that I had previously dealt with for stuff in a bygone era, pre internet times. It was very convenient.
Although I have never voted liberal or ndp you always think if these parties take power at some point that they will follow a bit of protocol and the law ,this current rendition of our federal government appears to have no morals whatsoever Actually its like a spoiled, arrogant, stupid, child Is governing Canada right now You might even say he was”Just not ready” and for that matter never will be ready for anything more than playing Mr Dressup while Canada disintegrates
Prinz Dummkopf reminds me of a wee urchin who, upon kicking an anthill, giggles with delight as the critters scramble to deal with the damage. In other words, the miseries he’s inflicted upon western Canada are done so purely for his own entertainment.

Canada’s “diversity” policies are literally hammering the citizens in the cause of global jihad.

More like Shart of Darkie because Blackie is so full of shit.
“Trudeau fondly recalled accompanying his father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, on trips to Africa as a child and later as a young adult backpacker.”
(The scheduling was messed up a couple of days ago, so this is a repost). Here is some theme music,
The Liberal Party’s media had great supportive coverage of the blockades last night. Heartwarming interviews with young white and black women manning the blockades around Toronto, ranting about “settlers”. And the media is excited that tribal police forces announced that they will not enforce injunctions.
Well these “settlers” should leave.
True North reports that a McMaster university teaching assistant will give credits to students who join her at blockades. Fight for socialism and get a university credit!!
If true, she should be charged with counselling to commit an indictable offence, and McMaster should be listed as funding terrorism. That would be one way to start fixing academia.
Keeping a full pantry is never a bad idea. There are always people who say why bother, being prepared for shortages is panicky and blah blah blah. Nobody cares about them or what they think because those people are grasshoppers.
And that’s ironic because the Kung Flu that’s spreading would have Master telling Grasshopper to skip the pebble snatch trick, be an ant, and stock up on some dried goods FFS.

James, I am an economist, and my wife and I are going to stock up on non-perishable staples this week and next. We will be spending extra time at our riverfront cabin this spring and summer. Oh, and expect a sharp economic recession soon.
According to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, everyone has a right to the freedom of peaceful assembly, as well as “freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression.”
We all know this is bullshit because of things like “hate speech”.
We also know that striking unions can do whatever they want, wherever they want and lord knows the Tire Burners have special status. Partner them with some twenty-something Angry Lezbeens and you’ve got gridlock.
Having to get an injunction every time somebody feels hard done-by makes this country a joke.
The Liberal Party’s CBC is excited that at the former location of the Mohawk blockade in Ontario, Indians are throwing burning tires on the tracks. Burning old car tires is an ancient Indian tradition.
Breaking on CBC news. A freight train was stopped on the Belleville CN tracks, but then started forward. A radical Mohawk threw a burning wooden pallet onto the side of the train. The train sped up, and continued on, with angry Mohawks screaming at the train. ( The police were on the other side of the tracks).
CBC host Susanna Meharchand was steaming mad, angry that the train’s engineer would speed the train up. She said the engineer put the police and the sweet, good-old Mohawks in danger.
These blockades arnt affecting the economy at all Out here in the west grain hauling is pretty well at a stand still and even should things get going soon the spring road bans will come into effect which means another obstacle to hauling grain, just went to the lumber store the price of plywood up 5$ a sheet,I have a small business, works has fallen right off the radar. You simple minded twits are ruining the country I will make sure every descendant of mine is anti Liberal, anti Quebec and anti Ontario for the next 100 years. It May take a few decades but we will starve and freeze you bastards right out of existence
It is those throwing burning wooden pallets who put people in danger. If the CBC wants to comment on this, they should be promoting taking down the blockades. Instead they are protecting and promoting the cause of the protestors. That’s irresponsible.
Silly me.
All this time I thought actions like that are acts of a terrorist organization.
I must have remembered it differently.
Bullchips. I watched it on the CTV “news”. Two natives, a bunch of burning pallets…beside the tracks. Big f/n deal. Vid of one of them pouring a “combustible fluid” on the ballast. There, some COP Speak for ya. You want to get in the way of 100,000 tons of a freight at notch 5, fill your boots. You’ll get yours taken off, slick.
That would be like my canine “stepbrother”, though he’d do stuff like that for amusement.

Some group in Alberta (Freedom Talk) is promoting a Jan 21,2021 referendum on independence. They have an aggressive lobby going on asking citizens to contact Kenney and their elected MP ‘s.
It will be interesting to follow this process and see what actual interest there is.
I wrote this on Feb 25 at 948 pm:
No referendum.
Just declare independence.
Cut taxes; cut bureaucracy.
Watch contrarian Ontarians flock West.
New motto? “Less is More, live free or die”
I stick by it. Separation is a no brainer considering how we are treated by the East Coast politicians. It will only get worse, abt. Why would anyone want to stay in Canada under Trudeau? Supposing everyone gets more money in ones’ pocket after leaving? Would be nice eh? Money talks, bs walks!
January 21, 2021? That’s crazy. Why the heck then? Oh, maybe we’ll change our minds? Never!
The people who put this date on as a target never lived in repressive Quebec, that’s painfully obvious.
Repressive Canada. Regressive Canada!
Coming to a theatre near you.
Post Alberta Referendum?: They will tell us that the result was a “no,” Albertans didn’t want it. They will lie,of course. The money that comes out of Alberta is too valuable for Ottawa not to have it their way. They’ll put their 2 cents worth in. You can bet that that vote will be rigged, big time. One would have to be pretty gullible to believe a it would have been a”no” result. Tell them to get on with it now. Separate.
You need a referendum for people to accept the decision to separate as legitimate. I don’t think they will be able to rig the vote. Brexit was successful. Have faith. Albertans will opt for their freedom.
There was no referendum in the USA in 1776.
Why should we trust any result?
When one us in an abusive relationship one should not have to ‘ask’ to leave it, one should just leave by one’s own free will.

Headline of story at the Liberal Party’s Toronto Star. “Settler” governments are responsible not hereditary chiefs, according to hundreds of lawyers and international scholars.
The Liberal Party’s Toronto Star is outraged at a Post media editorial cartoon that showed a drunken indian in a Tonto image. The Star explains to the peasants that this is racist. Indians never get drunk. Post Media apologized for the cartoon.
Tonto was a white guy who played a Indian in the Lone Ranger TV series. Cultural appropriation.
It took, what?, 20+ years for the culture to mature enough to get people like David Carradine playing the *Grasshopper in Kung Fu.
I don’t know where we’d be today if Bill Cosby hadn’t broken the color barrier and been allowed to play a starring role in I Spy./

National Post reports that the Quebec premier has stated that Mohawks blockading railway tracks have AK 47s. This can be believed, since Mohawks are well known to be big time dealers in illegal guns. So here we have domestic terrorists, and nothing is being done about it. Welcome to lawless Canada.
I bet that they do not. They might have some Valmets, Romaks, or Saigas, but no AK-47 for sure.
AK-47 have milled receivers and are expensive, collector items, sold at auctions.
If those guns are true full-auto AKs, then they are AKM-74.
But if the Mohawks do have full-auto AKM-74 then they are committing several offenses:
possession of a weapons for dangerous purpose – 5y
possession while not holding a proper license – 5y
possession of a cartridge magazine in excess of 5 rounds – 5y
possession of a prohibited weapon – 5y
possession of a firearm while attending a public rally – 5y
commission of a criminal offense while wearing a disguise – 10y
total: 35y
Depending on manufacture there were 100 different types of AKs. Norinco sold a crap load of them in Canada and the US and they look all the world like an AK but are semi-automatic. I wish I would have bought one back in the day. I think they are now prohibited in Canada.
I go here to get the news from teh udder side: https://www.jlsreport.com/2020/02/26/taylor-bachrach-voted-against-his-riding-in-skeena-bulkley-valley/

Your MP at work, representing you. Taylor Bachrach voted in parliment today (Feb 24th 2020) against standing in solidarity with every elected band council on the Coastal GasLink route and the vast majority of the Wet’suwet’en people who support the Coastal GasLink project and to condemn the radical activists holding our economy hostage.
Smithers, BC…another place I worked out of. Really nice country. Visit some time, it’s worth the trip.

Funny.

As we spout off in the HOC today on Native Railway Gate in Kajnader: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/02/26/president-trump-announces-600pm-press-briefing-on-coronavirus-a-review-of-response/

LNG facility in Quebec, no problems with the Liberals for the Pipelines or port facility. No protests, no angry PM, everybody is happy. I it is Alberta Gas shut them down.
Not a single protest, barely any media coverage. If it benefits Quebec, it must be in national interest.
