WASHINGTON D.C. (WATE) – UPDATE – 7:30 p.m.: ABC News reporting:
“We have spoken to a source in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) who confirms that three missiles were fired at the international airport and adjoining US military base.
Two of the missiles were shot down by anti-missile batteries and the third missile fell behind the airport but did not explode.”
Well, they weren’t going to do nothing. Now we wait to find out if Iran gets away with the face-saving exercise — or not.
More here.
BREAKING — A US official confirms ballistic missiles have been fired from inside Iran at multiple US military facilities inside Iraq. Facilities include Erbil in N Iraq and Al Asad Air Base in W Iraq.
Early reports are indicating 20 American deaths, but it hasn’t been confirmed.

No doubt, a retaliation will be forthcoming. The Ayatollah may find himself unemployed before long.
You watch: it’ll be portrayed as an overwhelming victory against the Great Satan.
Yeah, yeah … the Mother of all retaliations …
By the main stream media news, that is.
I predict a whole lot of Iranian military hardware will become kinetically deformed very soon.
Finish it — tonight. B-52s, with precision-guided munitions, out of Diego Garcia is just fine with this household.
Please let at least one of them be one of my old birds.
President Donald J. Trump has said he’ll be releasing a statement tomorrow morning.
Take out the Parliament, all Revolutionary Guard bases, the oil fields, and all their nuclear plants. In one strike.
And then say “I’m sorry, did you say something?”
We’ll see. Exactly what did the Iranians target? Modern guidance systems are very accurate, so, if the Iranians sent their missiles, but they hit nothing but dirt and rock, say, 1km away from the actual base, and did zero damage, we know that the Iranians were too afraid to hit actual targets. They know that US retaliation from direct hits, would leave Iran as a somewhat lesser country, than it is today.
They are cowards at heart, with big mouths. The Arab way.
Remember Baghdad Bob? Saddam’s ridiculous threats? Hollow threats from exagerrating nutcases.
Baghdad Bob?
He’s working at CNN, last i heard.
CNN had to let him go … after their settlement with the Covington kid. The pantry is empty over at CNN tonight
Destroy Mecca.. We don’t recognize International Law……Get her done! and issue a sorry for the Monkey’s that only think they have Rules…A slap is the only recourse available….So sorry… not
Makkah is in Saudi, and when I was there the Saudis blamed the Iranians for the 1979 attack on the Grand Mosque.
Saudis are Sunni and Iranians are Shia – attacking Saudi accomplishes less than nothing, other than inflaming every Muslim on the planet, even the ones, like Saudi, who don’t like the Iranians.
It wouldn’t hurt Iran, it would just provide them with allies.
I presume that writing in English, you use the native language versions of Wien, Koehn, Venezia, Firenze, etc. also, instead of the corrupted English, but much more familiar, versions of those cities’ names.
After spending the better part of a decade in Saudi one tends to adopt habits vis-a-vis nomenclature.
I’ve never been there, but most of the accounts by people I know who have leave me thinking I wouldn’t call it the “better” part of a decade.
@ Tooner: I stand corrected…make that MOST of a decade.
To Nemo2:
Well, you ain’t there no mo. You should use the version familiar to most of your targeted audience, rather than being so damn pretentious. After all, both versions are transliterations from a different alphabet. What is the difference? That is a lot less egregious than the British just making up names for German, Austrian, and Italian cities because they find the original names, in Latin alphabet mind you!, too difficult or just not pleasing.
I used to work with a Japanese-American, who gave his surname in the Anglicized version familiar to most people, and made no bones about it. Then this other Japanese-American joined the group, and he insisted on pronouncing the name slightly differently, and with an accent on the third and last syllable, a practice not common in English. That made a lot of people uncomfortable, but the first guy still answers to the original version. The irony is, the first guy is fluent in Japanese, and his pride is not hung up on how his name is pronounced in America. The second guy is barely conversant with the most mundane subject, but finds his pride in correcting non-Japanese pronunciation.
I am fluent in Cantonese and passable in Mandarin. When asked for my surname in English, I always reply with the anglicized version. When asked for my surname in Cantonese, I’ll of course pronounce the name in Cantonese. As with the first guy above, my pride in my ethnic culture is not hung up on how my surname is pronounced in America.
P.S. Would you say Hollywood is the makkah of entertainment in America?
The mullahs are counting on the treasonous cockroaches in the western media and leftist political latrines to turn their feeble response into a harbinger of Armageddon. F**k em all, especially the western traitors, like the NDP giving aid and comfort to the mullahs. The day of reckoning can’t come soon enough.
// Now we wait to find out if Iran gets away with the face-saving exercise //
In other words, what’s the next move in Trump’s ass-saving exercise.
Yeah, sure snowflake. You’re getting drafted, dontcha know?

Sending you to Tehran to frighten the Iranians.
Once they see how utterly moronic you are, they’ll surrender out of fear of contagion.
Thank you for your service.
They said that multiple missiles had been fired from Iran to US military bases in Iraq.
Simple solution. Count how many missiles there were, multiply by 10, and fire back
https://youtu.be/ShS6a3n2FKQ
Or, collect the scrap, load it on a B-52 and drop it on a launch site in Iran.

No American casualties.

And the Democrats are constantly and forever holding up and fillabustering the President’s nominations. Democrats have forced 78 cloture votes on Trump’s nominations.
Now…..go pound sand.
dizzknee, yer yah butt doesn’t work in here, I thought even you were smart enough to figure that out!!
But we have you, dizzy.
Please keep giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Your turn will come.

Really !! You have been reading too many blood & thunder novellas.
THere’s nobody here but us chickens – neither friends or enemies are paying attention.
Pamela Geller …
The Americans had F-35’s in the air 2 minutes after the initial attack:
“The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Forces (IRGC), fired at least 12 Fateh-110 ballistic missiles from Iran at various sites where American forces are located, including many which were aimed at Ain Al-Asad.”
…
“MORE THAN SIX US AIR FORCE F-35A LIGHTNING II FIGHTER JETS LEFT AL-DHAFRA AIR BASE IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES AT AROUND 2 AM WEDNESDAY, ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE SOURCES, POSSIBLY HEADING TO RESPOND TO TUESDAY NIGHT’S IRANIAN ATTACK ON AMERICAN TARGETS IN IRAQ.”
…
“The warplanes left the UAE just about two minutes after the Ain Al-Asad Air Base came under rocket and missile fire from Iran, and from a local Iranian proxy militia in Iraq.”
https://gellerreport.com/2020/01/us-warplanes-leave-uae-air-base-after-iran-fires-ballistic-missiles-at-us-forces-in-iraq.html/
Remember folks the first casualty in war is the truth.
Good point.
There is lots of time to take action, if required.
For example: if the ten missiles missed and made craters in the sand is any action required?
Attempted murderers who miss are still charged for the attempt. It’s Iran’s behavior that needs modification, not their targeting.
Iran portrayed itself as the victim when what’s-his-name bought the farm a few days ago. This is the same country that was howling with indignation when the Americans who were hidden in the Canadian embassy after the embassy invasion were smuggled out, claiming a diplomatic violation of some sort.
BA, that was the start of the U.S. war with Iran, this war has been ongoing and eventually will have to reach a point where Iran is destroyed.
The Iranians did kick a bit of a own goal — forty dead at the terrorist-in-chief’s funeral.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/qassem-soleimani-funeral-stampede-kills-mourners-says-iran-state-tv
An awesome point, as always: “If you can’t even run your own end of the street, how are you going to run the world, exactly?”
Nevertheless, sir, we both know that an attitude problem is only fixable by one of two methods…oh, never mind! But the other involves flying B-52s out of Diego Garcia, with 35,000 kg (each) of precision munitions on board! End it!
It’s a thorn in everybody’s side, which absolutely everybody wants to lose.
saw a documentary about Ms B-52.
the prediction was, with new technology installed, the fleet will continue to exist and
be deployed for the better part of a *century*. very versatile aircraft.
now THAT is some track record.
when I was a kid in SW Ontario, I could spot her far up in the sky, on training missions, recognizable by the TWO contrails coming out at each point side by side which looked like 4 in total but on closer look was actually 8. ie the ‘pairs’ would quickly combine but I knew what to look for.no passenger planes ever had 8 engines in the 60s.
God Bless the America Air Force and God Bless the American taxpayer who pays for it all !!!!
Well Iran is about to find out that this is no march into the Sudetenland. Trump is no Chamberlain or Daladier. We know that Trudeau has already displayed his old man’s backbone by ordering Canadian forces(?) out of Iraq and into Kuwait. Macron is French, so we know what to expect there, Johnson, however is an unknow quantity? Does he have the same mettle as Thatcher? This is where the rubber hits the road. This is now a national crisis and how America responds will dictate who is ultimately in charge, a nation ruled by a culture left over from the Seventh century, or a nation that is powerful enough to wipe this pimple off the ass of humanity. Forty years is enough tolerance and patience.
What’s going to happen if there is an interruption in the dirty oil supply to quebekkie? Things can get outta hand rapidly.
I look forward to your PM’s words of calm peacefulness. Say? … is he back from Guatemala yet? Did he get his fill of underage girls and boys?
Oh yes, he’s back stinking the place up. The MSM is fawning over his new beard. One airhead guest on one of the morning CTV programmes was going on about how he’s a dreamy Dreamboat. These are the F-heads (despite Scheer’s incompetence) that voted for the little prick.
when they cleaned up the mess by offing 25 Iranian proxy fighters they used F-15s, now the USA is bringing out the heavy guns:-)))F-35s
Ilhan Omar told the assembled Press … that “somebody did something tonight”. Not to worry. A big nothingburger.
Speaking of nothingburgers … Boy howdy! I sure wish SHE were President. Then the world would still be “in balance” … and the dead carcass of our Iraqi Ambassador would have been dragged through the streets of Baghdad tonight … instead of this … “other something”.
FNC: President Trump will be speaking to the World tomorrow morning. Doing battle damage assessment tonight to see if there are any casualities– too early to tell. Photo here:

Watching CTV news regarding killing of the terrorist by Trump their view would make a rat puke.Left wing, stupid, stunned, idiots Eat crap Lisa Laflameout hope I spelled her name right

FOX News…(this was) an intentional deliberate miss and…face saving measure by Iran.
John Roberts outside the White House to Laura Ingraham.
Or maybe these camel jockeys have much less capability than the neocons have told us about. What trump does next will surprise everyone bank on it.
Not really, there are closer bases that could have been hit, this is just a show.
John, exactly, I was looking at a map with were the target was and thought the same thing
and were is unDork, whining about “brown people”????
I’d like to be on Trump’s advice team over this. An intentional miss by Iran with no casualties could end up being another Operation Canned Goods or perhaps Operation Mincemeat. The bodies of half a dozen young men killed in car accidents in America could be transported with 24 hours to a forward American base in Bagdad to be revealed to the world press as victims of the attack. Presto, changeo, WWIII without even trying. I wonder if the Mullahs in Iran had ever figured an angle like that. I’m not even thinking along Alinsky’s Rules.
Why would America do that? You have the mistaken impression that the American administration wants war. It doesn’t. But it is its duty to protect Americans. If indeed everything happened as presented, that’s the best possible scenario. The Iranian mullah have been revealed as cowardly in the face of American might. They have learned to toe the line.
No the Americans do not want war but, BUT they also do not want to be continually attacked by terror groups. I made the comment to show that sometimes plans can lead to unintended consequences. If the Iranians launched these rockets/missiles with the intention of showing that they can tweak Americas nose with no retaliation then they will continue. If however there were Americans killed by these attacks America would have every right to launch counterstrikes to prove that they are not making idle promises. An attack on an Iranian target, small or large, is the only actual response that the Iranians would understand. Tit for Tat. For forty years the Americans have shown remarkable restraint in dealing with terrorists and the countries that support them. If the dynamics don’t change the attacks will continue. What most people do not understand is that Trump has changed the dynamics.
“an intentional deliberate miss and…face saving measure by Iran.”
that seems to be the consensuses from many sources
Does the US have the capability of taking over control of the missiles, or at least moving them off course?
I’m sure they’d have a backup plan for the possibility of Iran ever going nuclear .
The Iranians needed a distraction from the headline of 56 of their mourners being trampled to death this morning.
If their missals were either shot down,,, or complete misses, Trump should just mock their incompetence, and their old technology .
Apparently they said, ” ok that’s our retaliation ( deliberate miss) we dont want to escalate.”
Sounds like they might not want a piece of Trump?
With heavy sanctions they don’t want to go to war with the US.
The Iranians are playing games. They just want to attack Israel:
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/01/senior-iranian-official-if-us-responds-to-attacks-iran-israel-will-be-annihilated-in-half-an-hour/
Did you hear this? Those millions of people that you see from an aerial photo which look like ants crawling — that are demonstrating and mourning at the funeral have been provided with a free meal to show up there. I don’t know if that is true. Also, apparently, these people have been told that Americans were in fact killed in the retaliatory strike tonight. Fake news everywhere.
Swiiiiiing and a miss. Strike 1!
Is it true that Fwance surrendered?
So no American casualties. Looks like Jussie Smollett fooled you again.
When you gonna stop falling for fake news?
Don’t think this is a no harm no foul situation. Firing ballistic missiles into a neighbour’s territory is an act of war. Remove the threat so it can’t be used again. You don’t want that threat to be held over your head when they have already demonstrated willingness to use.
In the short term the media will be putting on the act (“we are all Bagdad Bob now”) but who cares.
Just outside a mosque near you
Pigs have grit than you!
So I don’t think it will be immediate but Iran has just given Trump what’s needed to destroy Iran’s missile and nuclear programs. I don’t think I would enjoy a chess game against Trump.
Boeing 737 just went down in Theran Coincidence? Iranian shootdown? Propaganda fodder for accusing the USA?
It was an Ukrainian airline with 180 souls.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/01/breaking-ukrainian-airlines-plane-carrying-180-passengers-crashes-after-takeoff-from-tehran-iran/
I was looking at the video wondering why anyone would be filming planes in the dark unless they’d be tipped off that it’d be hit.
US will take out missile launch sites.
They may take measures against countries trading with Iran. France is an example.
That’s it.
A limited response but enough to curb further missile launches.
People That Don’t Need Killing Any More
1)leader of the so-called Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
2) Iranian Major General of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), commander of the Quds Force, and listed as a terrorist by the European Union Qassem Soleimani
3) _______________________
And the jingoist beat goes on…
There will be more bloodshed no doubt, and keyboard warriors will clack out their glee, but the few remaining critical thinkers in internetland realize that what happened here is a strategic blunder for the US. They will be evicted from Iraq. Slow, fast, whatever, but it will happen. That effectively ends the Syria campaign.
Realists know they had already lost and no surprise since the incoherence of their “plan” is shown by the insanity of CIA armed Al Qaida rebels fighting Pentagon armed Kurds. However, this seals the outcome.
It’s not just Syria/Iraq. In Libya the US allied govt. seems likely to fall. Another US foreign policy debacle.
Maybe Trump actually wanted this outcome as the “4D chess” speculation posits. I doubt it. This isnt good for Israel and Trump is their staunchest friend.
Then again its hard to feel too much sympathy for Israel. They made their own deal with the devil, supporting Wahabist beheaders, on the theory I guess that Sunnis fighting Shias would weaken each other and the Iranian state.
The US could end up in a real war with Iran but that wouldnt last much past 2021 inaugeration day. We’ll see, but “so far so good” isnt going to age well I think.
For those who followed the Iran-Iraq war, way back in the late 1980s, Iran and Iraq exchanged long distance missile attacks, mostly targetting cities. The missiles were mostly inaccurate, reflecting the technology of the V-2 missiles of WW2. I realize the official BDA (“bomb damage assessment”) have not been revealed as yet, but one picture shown this morning shows a bunch of Iraqis staring at a large hole near the airbase. I am wondering why the Iranians haven’t improved their missile technology all this while.
P.s. There is a good chance President Trump may announce no more U.S. retaliations this morning. His track record is that of avoiding foreign wars, not expanding them.
Trump is truly a magnificent Disruptor-in-Chief. I think he’s looking at the long game, not just his one or two term presidency. He sees that years and years of previous strategies has.not.worked — and is willing to stir the pot causing a total reset of the playing field.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — various attributions
If he can get a few of these global situations advanced and change outcomes for the better – he may go down as a president just as influential as Reagan. Of course if he slips, even one iota, we all know that the left/media (sorry, redundant!) already have the pejorative paragraphs written.
