Perhaps some teachers don’t agree with the doctrine but can’t publicly speak out against it. They may be harassed and bullied into pushing that bullcrap or, perhaps, they may have been threatened with being fired if they don’t go along with it.
I had to put up with a lot of that sort of nonsense while I was teaching at a certain post-secondary institution. The ideology in question was the “student as customer” baloney and certain administrators didn’t appreciate that I openly dissented. And, yes, I was constantly being pressured to comply….. or else.
In hospitals the “patients” are “clients” since the early ’90s or so. What they call the taxpayers is anybody’s guess. Suckers maybe?

Any teachers that I’ve met always said that they liked the students for the most part, but not the administration and their nonsense.
I had some students that I liked. I remember one immigrant kid for whom a passing grade was an accomplishment, but it was his attitude that stood out. He was originally from Iraq and, in the society he was born into, the teacher is held in as high a regard as the healer and the holy man. He understood that his education was a privilege and not a right and he conducted himself accordingly.
And then there were those lazy twits who didn’t belong there and who figured they had a right to graduate but without putting in any effort. Sadly, many of my colleagues were only too willing to accommodate them.
One day, we had some visitors from Thailand and some of them attended one of my lectures. Unfortunately, some of my students acted up as usual. I could sense that the Thais were shocked at their behaviour because, like the aforementioned student, anyone who teaches is revered in their society.
I often brought up that matter with my superiors, only to have them shrug it off, put the blame on me, or simply fob me off with “You have to work with what you’re given.”
I’m sure that had I stayed longer in that place, I would have become an alcoholic.

The teachers who cared to admit that it was the administration and not the students that ruined their individual teaching experiences were actually friends of mine and in another case, one was a cousin. Most made it to retirement but my cousin didn’t. She quit teaching and never again held a full time position anywhere.
It would seem that students became more disrespectful over the years for many reasons, one being that no one was made to fail. Standards have been lowered to win the paying students with a guaranteed degree.

Part of the problem that government views education as a consumer “product”. The fix was in when “gravy” funding was granted to departments based on student satisfaction surveys. I was pressured to ease up on my standards, my grading, and my attempts at discipline lest it jeopardize that money and the associated bragging rights.
Frankly, the post-secondary educational system is hopelessly corrupt and the educationists weren’t entirely responsible for that.

Many a time I was “required” to go easy on my marking in order to produce a desired class average. If I’d had my way, more of my students would have failed because the shiftless gits figured they could breeze their way through my courses. They were in for a nasty surprise when they found out that they had to earn their grades, but it didn’t take much effort to get 50%. The problem with many of them is that they were lazy and were made so by the public school system.

Have the Federal government fund the construction of 2 large nuclear power plants in Alberta which would supply all the energy needed to produce their oil & gas (drastically reducing emissions).
Have Saskatchewan build 2 large coal-fired generating stations (also financed by Ottawa) to produce electricity for the province using a 100% carbon sequestration system (drastically reducing emissions).
The extra benefit is Alberta is buying uranium from Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan is buying coal from Alberta. And because nobody counts the CO2 emitted from imported oil & gas, Alberta can export as much oil & gas as it wants (i.e. let the US count the CO2 from imported Alberta o/g).

If you have a relationship where you can talk to kids one on one, or in a small group, ask them what they think about this global warming. Then carefully explain to them that it will not happen, and that they should remember this conversation when nothing bad happens by that date, that they were LIED TO by all these people. Listened to an educator talk on am640 with John Oakley and she rambled on how Doug Ford is destroying our children’s education. John is a great interviewer and I hoped he would mention how the kids are failing as the tests show in math, science and English. Over 10,000 teachers in Ontario earn $100k +, the average is $92K plus benefits. It works out to $2,200 a WEEK that they actually work.
My son, who is now 36, had his Christmas pageant in grade 3 that had no Christmas Carols sung and we all complained to the staff about it so this has been going on for decades. One of my memories as a kid was seeing the windows at Eaton’s and Simpson’s with their Christmas themes, all gone now as they are Holiday windows in the Bay. I keep asking the store clerks what is the holiday I am buying a gift for?

I sent a suggestion to Alberta’s new Canadian Energy Centre that they look into a so-called charity called Alberta Council for Environmental Education (www.abcee.org) whose stated mission is: “To work collaboratively to advance environmental education in Alberta. By collaborating with teachers, education providers, parents, and students, ABCEE helps youth become aware of the environment, gain an understanding of it, consider environmental issues, and act to create a sustainable future. Children need to fall in love with the planet before they can be asked to take care of it. And when youth are empowered to help the planet, they are hopeful.”
ABCEE have no financial information available on their website, so I went to the CRA Charity Resource Page but there’s not much info there. Their last reports (with no details) were filed as of December 2017, briefly summarized as follows:

Non-receipted donations $120,685.00
Gifts from other registered charities $228,300.00 [WTH !!??]
Total revenue: $378,985.00
If they aren’t providing their financial information on a timely basis, the Canadian Energy Centre should ask the CRA why not.
My concern is: Who are these people? Who exactly is funding them? What schools do they visit? What grades/ages do they speak to? What materials do they hand out? Where did they get their information? Do they promote the argument that “man-made climate change” is a scientific, non-refutable fact, or do they provide a balanced perspective.
If special interest “charities” like this are going to schools indoctrinating the kids, it should be a requirement that the schools give equal time to qualified individuals or organizations with differing information.

How is curriculum set in Alberta and Saskatchewan? Is this simply a matter of Kenney and Moe needing to appoint the “right” people to curriculum committees?

Aside from that, I agree with an earlier comment that teachers should be largely done away with. In most cases kids would learn better on computers or even giant lecture halls with 500 or more students per class as an interim transition. Save us taxpayers billions and lots of grief.

Okay, I’m going to drop this back on parents. Parents, rather than working with the school, started going after teachers because their little angel should not be disciplined. The good teachers started getting fed up. The result was a bunch of minimally educated lazy union bastards took their place. Instead of teaching, these “teachers” only promote the union/left agenda. Most cannot even function at a kindergarten level let alone teach.
Too many parents are too busy with their own issues to be active with what their children are up to. Only a few push back against the union agenda and don’t get any support from the rest. Many do not even try to discuss the garbage their kids come home with.

Surely part of the problem is that the audience/parents respectfully clapped. No. They should’ve sat on their hands or walked out. Their disapproval would have been very clear. The kids might have been confused or had hurt feelings for a few minutes, but then they learn not to mindlessly follow the teachers. Nice people don’t have to go Antifa but we have to learn to tolerate a bit of awkwardness to get our point across.
If you have a problem with this – run for the school board, pressure your MLA to introduce a regulation banning politics in the first 9 grades (zero tolerance of course – they can’t argue with that), investigate why the local teachers college is run by a SJW.

Fight back immediately!!! My daughter walked out of social studies conversation about privileged individuals in society. I immediately pulled the principle out of his class to state by complete disagreement with this sort of indoctrination. Daughter stayed out of that class until the topic was no longer being discussed.
It is time for parents to get loud and obnoxious about how our children are being politically indoctrinated in our “public” school system. When something like this happens, email, call, knock on the doors of teachers, principles, administrators and board members and voice your displeasure. If nothing changes, it’s time to pull our children from schools and march to Regina.
