    They forgot to mention those times that there is no wind.
    You can expect that from “journalist” not knowing in almost 99% of the time.
    To ask such question would ruin the whole feel good story.

  5. Dr. Dixie Lee Ray (Ph.D. marine biology) was a scary-smart woman. When she was nominated to head the Atomic
    Energy Commission, she learned enough to hold her own against nuclear physicists before she was confirmed.
    She also wrote two books on environment issues that debunked every environmental myth. On the subject
    of solar PV panels, she stated that in order to supply the city of New York, it would involve a PV array larger than
    the city. The same problem plagues the bird shredders. You simply cannot build enough of them to replace
    nuclear, coal and natural gas generation. The same applies to solar thermal solar energy. The only difference
    is that one shreds birds and the other fries birds!

    Without massive federal and state subsidies, none of the alternative forms of energy production would exist. To
    make matters worse, the “alternative energy” pipe dreams are the most expensive forms of energy production.
    Another factor in the equation is the increased demand for EV’s. The more people who buy EV’s the greater
    the need for these pie in the sky “solutions” that involve solutions for a problem that does not exist.

  7. The biomass consists of locally grown straw. Try replacing that with locally grown trees, which have to be chopped down to be fed into the incinerators, and see how the greenies react.

  8. I like how the mining, manufacturing, transportation and energy it takes to produce one of these mills, arrays or batteries is all discounted. Not to mention their life span, maintenance and eventual recycle or disposal.

  9. I was recently tasked with disposing of two coffee table sized solar panels where I work (they powered the camera that took a time lapse video of a new building being constructed). The “universal waste” (e-waste) recycler we use couldn’t help me because they are classified as hazardous waste. I’m imagining this is going to take quite a while to find a proper disposal option. No biggie on my end as I charge good money for what it is I do (“consulting”). But it’s yet another hidden cost everybody pays for in the end. Just wait until all these solar panels start reaching the end of their useful life. The disposal costs will be astronomical.

    1. Every TRUE BELIEVER solar panel enthusiast I speak with says it’s a myth that the panels degrade with time. Just more conspiracy theories by Trump cult members. No, they say … the panels last indefinitely … churning out FREE, GREEN, RENEWABLE, power.

    Firstly, there are 4000 inhabitants.

    So leaving the offset sources, that’s 11 turbines for 4000 people.
    AND
    there are now turbines with 10 times the output of those 20-year-old 1MW types.

    Which would mean 11 turbines to power a population of 40 000 people.

    Now do your China math.

          What else do they use?

          It was -20 early this morning in Calgary. What do we do in the new world when the wind doesn’t blow and the solar panels are covered with snow?

          Perhaps we should move to someplace 10-20C warmer? Oh but, can’t do that, catastrophe happens when it’s that warm.
