There have been more than one London Bridge. Currently there are two; one in Lake Havasu City and one in . . . wait for it, wait for it . . . London. The one that was “falling down” was ordered to be built by Henry II as a memorial to Thomas Becket. It stood (with repairs) for more than 600 years and was replaced by the one in Lake Havasu City in the early 1800s, which was replaced by the usual contemporary visual horror of concrete and steel girder.
It sounds like somebody did something.
