The third event that happened in 2016 was Bernie Sanders getting as far as he did to be the Democratic candidate before the Hillary team had to chop the legs out from under him. It totally took the Democratic party by surprise that Bernie had the level of support that he did. These three events were truly part of a global revolt. The time has come.
Yes Don! What do BREXIT, Trump, and Sanders all have in common? … Opportunity.
The BREXIT referendum was the FIRST “opportunity” the British People had to have their voices heard – directly, via a referendum on Euro-rule. And they don’t quite like it. Donald Trump was an “opportunity” for conservatives to send a message to the Party which gave lackluster LOSER choices such as McCain, and Romney. So-called Republicans who were NOT representing the LOCAL (USA) interests of voters, but representing that of corporate globalists. And Bernie Sanders was the “opportunity” for working class Democrats to send the same message to the Globalist-corporatist leaders of their party. I have little doubt that Trump actually picked-up a large number of Bernie voters. Which is why the only chance the Dimocrats have in 2020 is to run a radical leftist/Socialist candidate. However, that is also likely to shed common sense voters who reject the mouth-foaming radicals taking over their Party … i.e. the NEVER-Warren’ers.
These “opportunities” are RARE … and The People JUMPED at the chance they were offered. Go ahead, run another BREXIT vote, run an “impeached” Trump again … and the margins of victory for each, will be even greater.
When all us deplorables, get REAL opportunity, we don’t squander it. No, we are NOT stupid. Those would be the REMAINERS and Never-Trumpers, who could “never imagine” either actually WINNING!!
Backing Trump merely demonstrates that ‘conservatives’ are mostly unlettered socialists lacking self-awareness.

I got a kick out of Van Jones, who has praised Trump on prison reform, because he and Jared Kushner worked together on it. (“Whitelash”?) Ben Carson, head of the HUD program, is doing wonders. He’s brilliant, passionate yet low-key, and he’s producing results (“Opportunity Zones,” etc.) for regular working people who want liveable neighbourhoods. Where’s the press? The media ignore positive progress.
The same thing is happening out here with Wexit. A bunch of eastern liberals just don’t get it. Far from being the tolerant, open-minded people liberals tell you they are (and they have to keep saying it because nothing they say or do would indicate it) they are in fact the most closed minded little bigots you could ever meet. You get the attention of a lib by dropping an anvil on his head — nothing less. The Laurentian elites will wake up to the fact of western alienation when they show up to the airport to go skiing in Lake Louise and are asked to show their passport. Then, and only then, will it dawn on them that they may have overlooked something.

I used to be Canadian, I have lived in more parts of Canada than most people, but the way people in Ontario (especially Toronto – where I lived) think of the West, is very sad. Friends of mine were surprised when they visited me in Calgary in 2013, that the city had beautiful skyscrapers, great restaurants and a fabulously scenic river valley. They truly thought that people in the West had just fallen off the turnip truck. They could not believe me when I told them, that “yes, agriculture and oil/gas were number 1 and 2 of the economy, but that Alberta had made enormous efforts to diversify the economy over the last 40 years.” The eastern politicians certainly do not mind robbing Alberta and Saskatchewan of money in the form of equalization payments though.
I’ve encountered easterners who acted as if western Canadians lived in teepees or igloos.
I remember returning to Calgary on a flight from Montreal, or was it Toronto, during the 1988 Winter Olympics were held in Alberta. When we were making our final approach, the easterners were glued to the windows, almost as if they were amazed that there was such a thing as a city that far inland.
That attitude isn’t restricted to eastern Canadians. While I was still a grad student, we had a European post-doctoral fellow in our lab. He had a rather snobby and disdainful attitude towards us and he seemed disappointed that we weren’t all dressed in buckskins or buffalo robes.
Every opportunity he had, he went to the mountains. I wondered why, considering that Europe has them as well. Once in a while, I speculated on whether the Alps had been bulldozed flat or something like that.
Not exactly.
In any realistic scenario where the West gets its freedom, your typical Laurentian elitist will never see Lake Louise again, except in a book from the prison library.
The thing that baffles me is how people can cling so steadfastly to “their town.” I guess for me it comes from being from a town that has virtually disappeared from existence. Fortunes change and places thrive and then go bust. It’s natural. Someone like Trump simply cannot revitalize every single town/city that’s a shadow of it’s former self. What Trump is fighting is a group of elites who are intentionally sapping the strength and vitality of the US (and the West in general) in some suicidal altruistic crusade. Or they think they are Robin Hood or something. If Trump is not re-elected in 2020, then the US will just continue its decline with Latin American and now the 3rd world arriving in droves to scavenge the carcass.

Trump is one of those elites, he and his fans are just too dumb to get it.
So the current elite will not give anything up, under any circumstance, and a civil war is inevitable. Tell me some more things I already know.

Democrats seem to be wrongly assuming that if they are successful in bringing down Trump the problem will be solved and America can finally move on and things can get back to normal. That’s how little regard they have for the people who voted for him.
Trump is their meal ticket. The GOP was already in trouble but with it turning into the Trump party the Dems now have their ideal opposition. They will be in power for at least a generation.

Ultimately, this a fight for freedom from slavery to overwhelmingly powerful and wealthy governments, governments that live and breath off the backs of their citizens.
The “slaves” of today are trying desperately to throw off their masters.
This is NO different than what happened to the slaves of the US plantations before the US Civil War.
If you notice carefully, today’s plantation owners accuse their dissidents of being mentally incompetent (e.g., racist, sexist) and morally deficient, even irredeemable, in precisely the same way as 1800s US plantation owners accused black slaves of being mentally incompetent and morally deficient.
Remember who also denigrates dissidents and “apostates” and those who refuse to “convert”: Islam and Muslims. (Oh, and by the way, remember who the source of American black slaves were: Muslim slave-traders. Black Africans to them were nothing but slaves, beasts of burden, forced labour.)
Remember who also designated dissidents as mentally incompetent: the Soviet Union.
Remember who “re-educated” its dissidents: Mao’s China.
Remember what those who dissent from the Climate Change Ideology are accused of: “science deniers”.
Just as the three men in the book of Daniel STOOD instead of bowing to the image of Nevuchadnetzar and Mordekhai in the book of Esther STOOD instead of bowing to masters, so are millions of Americans and millions of British STANDING instead of bowing to their masters.
The one difference between the gods of men and the God of the Bible is that the gods of men demand that others bow to them and serve them without question or dissent but the God of the Bible calls on us to speak (freely) with him, standing and face-to-face.

I’ve shared this with many of my centrist and event center-left friends outside of America. It might enlighten them.
The bureaucratic state allied with the ruling class, which removes anyone who threatens their hegemony, including voters.
When the masses revolt, they think the masses are revolting – deplorables, racists, whatever intolerant label works.
Dems impeach because they can; anybody looking at this through the lens of due process or legitimacy is not paying attention.
Meanwhile, despite GOP miscreants like Romney, Trump and the party raise money while Dems write campaign ads for them.
Why would Dems think they can defy voters? Because they think they can and give themselves the right to demoralize populism.
Keeping power for themselves, at the expense of the people, has become their sacred duty to proliferate their privilege.
As in GB and its parliament now ducking the voters’ judgment, the state and statists must substitute for the people’s judgment.
Only a compliant and willing mendactic media can carry their banner. That’s how our election worked – bereft of media rebuttal.
Then they pat themselves on the back, saying contrary candidates are to blame for mediocracy bias.
Today we have an good example with the meme that Scheer’s french debate performance sunk him, decided beforehand.
