Coulda Had Max

Found in passing.

Haven’t checked it for myself, but I suspect others already are.

Update: And so it begins.

  1. I have it at eight seats with 4 others within a hundred votes or so. PPC voters were indeed the Ross Perots of this election.

    1. That kind of thinking is OK if you are working on Millenial-levels of attention span and checkers strategy.

In one year, the CPC got the attention and support of 2% of the electorate. This, in the face of extreme hostility by the media. Did you listen to Rosemary Barton dumping all over Maxime and his supporters last night. Her comment on Vasshy Kapelos’ face lighing up when Maxime was no longer in the lead in his riding? They didn’t give the licence plate salesman the same treatment.

I would say that, if anything, the PPC support is greater than what was seen due to people voting strategically, which, in itself, made no real difference in the outcome.

Let’s see what happens over the next two years or so. Ming is still under house arrest, two Canucks are still in Communist China jails, more of Jr’s past antics that are not as “overlookable” as blackface, more payola to Quebec companies and more squeezing those that make to give to those that take.

      1. “Let’s see what happens over the next two years or so. ”

        Gun confiscations?
SDA members imprisoned for spreading fake news?
More Librano voters imported from every turd world shithole around the planet?

Elections have consequences and through combined efforts of Dairy Queen and Maxipad we have handed the country to Aladdin and his leash to Dogmeat. Better lube up.

        1. SCHEER lost me with his Pandering Crap.
He was pro Everything Justin was…How the Fk could anyone vote for that..?? Those 120 or so seats he got were ALL by those who didnt understand what his position was: VACILATING on EVERY FILE that concerned Conservatives.

          Immigration – MIgration
          Paris Climate BS
          UN meddling
          CBC
          Islam

I’m actually glad he didnt win.
Not one goddamned thing would have changed, particularly for the West. Same old same old – Kiss Quebecs ASS and rape the west…as it ever was.

At least with Justin we know what he’s about…
Globalism – Destroy Western Canada – Protect Quebec

We know what we have to do. So get off YOUR ASS JASON – CALL that Referendum. NOW.

          1. Betcha he won’t – he’s likely eyeing the leadership of the CON’s as we speak.

Why settle for Presidentship of a couple western provinces when you can have it all?

    2. Even if Max had become leader of the CPC, the entire Canadian media and all the left wing parties … that would be all of them … have labelled Max as a racist and a bigot.

We, more sensible conservatives, know that he is only trying to salvage Canadian culture and do what is best for the county in the long term economically. However, it is racist to be in favor of your own white person culture in Canada.

I think I have participated in my very last election unless there is a vote to separate from the Eastern puke hole people. it is simply pointless. I live on Vancouver Island … there isn’t a person left here that I can talk to. I may have to move to Alberta if only to no feel so alone in this demented dominion.

      1. Politically, I think Western separation will be the next big thing. It might not happen, but the rest of Canada needs to understand the seriousness if the threat. They do not right now. Most have not heard of Vivian Krause. Patrick Moore could not get an editorial published highlighting the problem. I think Scheer may have mentioned it early in the election and he was immediately called divisive and a fear monger. (Nuts when no one calls the misguided global warmers fear mongers!) Anyway, Trudeau is not the one to bring the country together. I also predict that Libs fed up with his politics and his phony persona may attempt to bring him down. My hope is that with a minority, major shifts could happen quickly, but Alberta needs to take the reins if they want the dynamic to change before the next election.

      2. Duke – HEY…I live on Van. Island and so do at least two more SDA posters. Never give up.

          1. Yeah, here’s another non-commie in Victoria. Yes, I know how Trump voters feel, there is literally no one to talk to here, though I hired a contractor this summer with a similar mindset.

      3. “Even if Max had become leader of the CPC, the entire Canadian media and all the left wing parties … that would be all of them … have labelled Max as a racist and a bigot.”

Yeah MSM would. Just like they did with Harris, Harper and Ford. And Ontario still voted from them. Even Moronto managed to vote for Mayor Ford. But we did not vote for Eves, Tory, Hudak, and Dairy Queen. The pattern is clear. To win Ontario CPC need a mild populist with working testicles.

CPC leadership review will happen in the spring. Had Maxipad did not reveal himself as a worthless traitor and Aladdin’s useful idiot he would be a shoe in for the leadership. Let that sink in.

        1. Scheer was uninspiring, and worst of all, did not have an effective campaign. Same lousy crew as last time. It should have been attack ads, all the time, hitting harder than the lame ones they did do. Parties hate them, because they work!
And, the release of the Blackface was too early, he had time to recover. Overall, a weak campaign

          1. “He didn’t need attack ads, he needed a serious sensible platform.”

Wrong, you don’t win Ontario on points, you win it on emotions. This has been the case since early 90s. Stop having opinions, you’re not good at it.

          2. Yep. Andrew Who played nice – and was flamed by the Press everytime he allowed an edge to creep into his voice – while Trudeau ran an attack campaign from the get-go. “HARPER! KENNEY! FORD! Maybe if I yell loud enough, nobody will ask about JWR and that reporter I groped – and no need to mention the leader of the CON’s, I don’t even know his name – and neither does anybody else!” Gee, funny isn’t it, how nobody called him out on it?

            Goodbye, Mister Scheer.

          3. You are absolutely correct….Scheer is NOT a strong leader…….Too bad Rona Ambrose quit CPC….she was great…….

CPC has to find someone with more firepower

      4. “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
― Winston Churchill, Never Give In!: The Best of Winston Churchill’s Speeches

Just a heads up Duke, you are not alone there are many living on the Island that have not succumbed to the fear mongering that has been shovelled to us in the last few elections. Churchill spent years in the Wilderness before he was proven right. The PPC party could not realistically expect to capture any seats when there was so much propaganda spread among the ignorant. Having said that now is not the time to sit in the wilderness, now is the time to as Churchill also said to “Brace ourselves”. We must get behind Max and properly organize and to do that we need to start a discussion about where we, the responsible and self reliant taxpayers of Canada, want this country to go. First on our agenda is to fight the first item sure to be on the new governments promises and that will be proportional representation. The Dippers and the Greens are set to raise this issue as it will give them more power in the House. What this country doesn’t need are more useless pigs at the trough. Proportional representation should mean that your vote is proportional to the benefit that you bring to Canadian Society. So before the ‘elite’ start writing the dialogue we had better get a head start and decide if we want them dictating the rules.

    3. whoop de do. who gives a sh-t at this point in time. the stupid are winning and only a war will change the course.

      1. yep Andy 2% McScheep can’t help being a stupid idiot and having NO leadership skills at all, it’s those who voted for him to be leader, and those who remained silent when it was obvious he was a dud, which was right after he took “charge”. There arwe a lot of stupids in here who tried to promote McUseless as the answer to getting rid of the Turd, if only they had called their rep to get rid of scheep. I did so after he wipped the con vote for the Paris BS

        1. I just cannot get the similarities between Scheer and Mittens Romney out of my head. We all know what the Book of Revelation said about lukewarm Christians … being spewed out of God’s mouth. Similarly, lukewarm conservatives need not apply. NO CONSERVATIVE will EVER get the leftist liberal vote … so STOP being so “compliant” with their every policy. Stand UP for what you believe … or sit the hell down. Energize the base so there is no need for a PPC.

Need I remind you all of what the BREXIT Party did to the lukewarm Tories? Step UP Canadian Conservatives.

          1. No conservative will ever be liked by the media, so why try to be their friend? Learn something from Trump, he gains support going after them.
The similarities are striking, both (Mittens and Scheer) of them strive to have everyone like them, both always speak softly with lots of words, but those words just all blend together into nothing memorable.

          2. “No conservative will ever be liked by the media, so why try to be their friend?”

And that about sums it all.

          3. so very well said Kenji.

I am one of the Few in Alberta that actually voted for the PPC. Clear Conservative policies as opposed to the Wanker aka Scheer.

And as you perfectly outlined, he tired to do exactly what you say he should NOT HAVE – Kiss the Leftists (_i_) , and in doing so, lost me and quit a few others a long time ago.

Separation is the ONLY viable Avenue forward.

      2. Ward, did you read this? From the Globe and Mail:
“Political consultant Warren Kinsella is calling on the Commissioner of Canada Elections to investigate his own firm and ‘leave no stone unturned’ after revelations that it worked on a secret campaign to ‘seek and destroy’ the People’s Party of Canada.” Kinsella is strange.

    4. I voted PPC because I HATE the Conservative Party and I HATE milky Scheer. I’m not a hold my noser and would not have voted for my Conservative candidate if that was the option.

The Leftist Red Tory CPC wants to take away my right to choose someone else.

    5. Gord it had no effect whatsoever. 63% of the voters voted for socialism, the liberals are socialists, along with the dippers, greens and the block heads.

  2. and the entire rotten situation is sitting on SCHEEP’S lap.
this is a not entirely unexpected ’20/20 hindsight’ result.
will the CPC learn ANYTHING from this or just continue with the finger pointing and clucking liberalism lite?
    hmmmm?

    1. I’m betting that they move father to the left. There are no politicians who are ideologically driven, they are all only in it for the paycheck. In a country that voted 63 percent for leftist parties, which way do you think they are going to go to try and get power? It’s much easier to pander to the “free stuff” crowd than it is to try and educate them to see your point of view.

      1. “I’m betting they move further to the left””.
Without doubt. Listening to the first hour of Corus radio talk show, a so-called expert was claiming that the CPC needed to have policies that speak to the collective (commie). Individual rights and ways to get ahead need not apply.
There is no use propping up a “conservative” federal party as the majority of the country has been indoctrinated to the socialist way.
It may be a lost cause.
I have been a silent seperatrist( spell) for many years, now full blown. I will support #wexit.

    2. Look at the polls. Ontario changed not a whit while the rest of Canada moved away from Trudeau.

The lions share of the blame rests with Doug Ford and his ineptitude. Rather than wait until after the federal election to act this would have been a very different outcome.

Meanwhile Kenney held off of presenting his budget until Thursday…

      1. What did Ford do? He was asked to keep a low profile and he did. I also do not see his government as the disaster the media and unions claim it is.

        1. The brilliant brains running the Conservative campaign told Ford to get lost, basically get out of sight and sound. He was attacked/used as a battering ram against the Federal Conservatives and couldn’t defend himself and explain the mess he inherited from the Wynne Liberals.

          1. Scheer should have been kissing Doug Fords big old butt during the campaign. He might helped convince some Ontarians that conservatism is a much better choice for long term prosperity. However, Ontarians are as stupid as Venezuelans. They are turkeys who just voted in Thanksgiving.

          2. What Duke said, Morontariowe, the 905 actually, seem to have very short memories, and no brains. They turf the Wynne mob last year, but do a 180 this year. Yet, the same crew that fecked Ontario for 15 years is the gang behind the Trudeau machine. Stupid is as stupid does!
            The Gimme Gimme crowd defined

      2. There’s always someone to blame for the federal Torys ineptitude and failures. It’s Bernier’s fault, it’s Ford’s fault, it’s conservatives’ fault, it’s the base’s fault…..

      3. Horseshit. I’m no Ford fan but anyone who voted for Blackie is an immoral asshole, plain and simple

        1. Yup. Look at a map. This country is Balkanized. Clearly the Fibs picked winners and losers. That big blue sea across the prairies and interior BC is real and they’re pissed. TruDOPE is oblivious to it, sees no problems and will just pander to his fave places. The media mentions the need to appoint a senator from Alberta to cabinet.
Anne McLellan anybody (shudder)? They are so out of touch and have no idea of the shitstorm coming their way. When/if Alberta Goes UDI, we’re on our way!
One doesn’t have to be in Alberta to want a new country, escaping this latte, greenie, pandering progressia!

          1. We’ve been here before…PET/Broadbent. Ontario with it’s seat count is the only foil. An 1867 dance card. PET was a commie, the whole province of Quebec is a commie construct, still fighting 1759.
The result I wanted came through…T2 and the commie LPOC, China supported with Quebec PowerCorp pulling the strings. There’s your enemy Kanaduh, focus for crying out loud. Tronna, the other half of Duex Nations has displayed it’s stripes. They like China over you. That’s your bankers, ex of Montreal after 1970. The Raptors are your Bread and Circuses, Ontario.

Well, an over looked fact for Raptor’s fans: Alberta and Saskatchewan supplies all of western Canada’s petroleum products (especially you John Horgan in BC), pretty much all of Ontario’s and 40% of Quebec’s petroleum products and that isn’t going to change anytime soon, despite the greens, Greta or the brain dead clowns parading through your streets the last few weeks.
We have winter here and that isn’t going to change despite wishing so. It won’t change until the Rockies are worn down. I can tell you as a Geologist that it was warmer when the Vikings sailed up the St Lawrence a thousand years ago and settled at L’anse Aux Meadows in NFLD. Eight degrees warmer and oil had not been discovered for today’s uses. Nobody died from heat stroke and you would still freeze in winter, even then.
You’re being played by your Elites folks, wake up.

    3. Good Cop CPC

      bad Cop Liberals

Same controllers how do we get Canadians to vote for a banning of most guns

      Hello Scheer

  3. I wrote to Andy Panda just after the election was called. I told him that he needed to stand for something that wasn’t Liberal Light. I received no response so I voted with the PPC. There is nothing to be gained by keeping Andy Panda at the helm of the PCs. And yes, the election was his to win if he had showed a bit more gumption instead of being another John Tory, afraid of his own shadow and hoping that people don’t realize how totally feeble he is. If you don’t stand for something, then you stand with nothing.

  4. Hopefully, he has learned not to hire Warren Kinsella. Nefarious deeds need a certain amount of discretion.
Talk about an unforced error. Or, maybe his 2% masters told him to do it. The whole episode stinks to high heaven.

    FREE SASKABERTA NOW !!!!

  5. Lord help Canada if Trudeau and Singh get together and paste together some kind of election reform. This election has shown the vast majority of Canadians are “progressive”, and would vote for a potato (in black face) before they would vote for a conservative candidate. No matter who the leader is the CPC will never manage more than 40% of the vote. That means that any form other than “first past the post” will ensure progressive victories until the end of time. Ranked votes, PR, etc, it doesn’t matter, no conservative government would sit again. That is why the “progs” are all in on trying to change the way we vote.

Max was a blip folks, he made a small difference in the vote but not enough to say the results would have been different. The winners were the Blockheads and the Greens… lord help us.

    1. It will be the Bloq and the Liberals running Canada into the ground as Liberals and Quebeccers enjoy life at the federal trough.

  6. Sorry, but it needs to be said over and over until people get the concept, PPC voters were not available to the CPC. It’s not just a case of adding numbers together. In 2015 before the PPC existed, I had decided that I could not in good conscience vote for the CPC, and I voted Libertarian in my riding. This year I was delighted to have a voting choice that represented my values and opinions. The CPC did not represent them even vaguely.

This concept that we “should” have voted CPC is just in the interests of the CPC and not the issues involved in political choice. And as the analysis shows, it made no real difference. One of the ridings where the totals add up is my riding, South Okanagan – West Kootenay. We have an NDP member of parliament. But I don’t feel that having one more backbench Tory willing to bend over and take globalism for the Bell Corporation or however the CPC views its role in the world is going to change my life for the better.

And quite frankly, a party that is willing to employ Warren Kinsella to defame conservatives is not worthy of our support. If you want to endorse that, go ahead. I don’t.

  7. Funny. I checked that very thing before going out this AM and I could only find one riding, Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam, where entire PPC vote would have put CPC over the top. Now I only checked LPC wins not NDP or Bloc soo maybe more.

    1. Four others I know of — Miramichi (NB), Cumberland (NS), and two in Ontario — Kitchener Conestoga and Richmond Hill. An earlier comment of mine may have been hasty ;o)

  8. The numbers speak for themselves.

My best line, of course, is: “Say, did you hear that the Tories won the national popular vote by 240,000.”

Response (universal): “Yes, I did. And it needs to happen.”

    Please draw your own conclusions.

      1. Well, since you asked, there are two immediate things that need to happen:

        1. Repeal the carbon tax, and

        2. Build the pipelines.

What else can I help you with, today?

And I live in SW Ontario, wherein almost all of our Conservative candidates were elected/re-elected. Say, did you hear that the Tories won the national popular vote by nearly 250,000? How do you think that happened, exactly?

Technically, the Tories (2.3 million votes in Ontario) could have had many more (I promised Kate 3.0 million), but for some delusion about Mr. Bernier. How’s that workin’ out for y’all, now?

Over.”Over” is a four-letter word, meaning finished, permanently.

        1. Carbon tax will be increased, not repealed.

          Pipelines will never be built.

          Just facing reality.

          1. You missed one, Dirtman – “Guns will be banned.”

            – Two, actually – “Canadians will be relentlessly, remorselessly, unceasingly scolded à la Greta from here to ad nauseam, until they fall asleep from utter boredom or believe us and kill themselves for being such unredeemable racist morons who just can’t grasp that we NEEEED to crush all our industry, build MOAR wind turbines, triple taxes, borrow a WHOLE LOT more, flood the country with diversity and leave all that filthy oil in the ground to SAAAAAAVE THE EARTH!!!!!!”

  9. If you take the 128 number and add the 14 given to Quebec and Atlantic Canada by Special Election Vote Rigging, ie Because they are more Special than the rest of Canadians you get 142. This is how the Rigged Canadian Elections work. It should be taken to the International Court of Justice to make it Rep by POP. Canada the FAKE DEMOCRACY. For example PEI has 145,000 population and gets 4 MP’s or 1 MP per 36,000 voters. By that formula Alberta should of had 111 MP’s. Getting the picture. A province with the population of a Town gets 4 MP’s. Disgraceful and very crooked.. And it can never be fixed by voting.
    Go UDI Alberta

  10. Another perspective — we now have a climate change parliament, and an opposition that said almost nothing on that issue in the campaign, choosing to look away and not articulate the concerns that I assume many CPC voters have about the subject. So what mandate do they have to stand up and oppose? Or will they do what the campaign suggests, look the other way, pretend they don’t see that the country went insane and voted for crazy politics? Max Bernier said clearly what his views were on the subject. But Scheer’s response was, I don’t even want one voice like that in parliament, I want bland stupid acceptance.

The BSA party is what you should call that outfit. Or maybe b.s., eh?

  11. I haven’t looked myself, but my riding went conservative. Cons (Collin Carrie) got 24,000 votes, Lib (somebody or other Hossein) got 15,000 votes and PPC (Eric Mackenzie) got 1200 votes. My PPC vote made no difference at all.

Al this means in future is that the Cons will have to decide if they want to further alienate their base in the vain hope of picking up Lib votes, and cause the growth of the PPC, or become a real conservative party.

    1. The PPC are gone, a one election party.
Like I said forever, zero seats, one election.
      Sore losers never win.

  12. Thanks, I’ll crunch the numbers for myself. Numbers aside, we witnessed the anti-Scheer anti-CPC vitriol here at SDA.
This was how Bernier played it on every blog and social media board his Bots could access for a month leading up to the dropping of the writ and for the entire election. They were even on American conservative blogs.
I won’t discount the impact that made toward Trudeau’s victory, which is a victory for China.

And speaking of China, Husky oil has been owned by China for decades.

        1. I don’t think CNOOC owns any of Huskey.
Now a publicly traded Canadian company with global interests, Husky Energy was founded in 1938 in Cody, Wyoming (USA) as the Husky Refining Company, with the acquisition by Glenn Nielsen of assets of the 4-year-old Park Refining Company from founder Valentine Monroe Kirk. The first refinery was in Cody, with a second constructed later in Riverton, Wyoming.

In 1946, the Company relocated to Canada, with the Riverton refinery moved to Lloydminster, Alberta to take advantage of the expanding asphalt and heavy oil opportunities in the area. A wholly owned subsidiary, Husky Oil and Refining Ltd., was created and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Cody refinery continued operations well into the 1970s, producing primarily asphalt. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, there were periodic rumors floating around Cody that the refinery would be reopened by a variety of different companies. One of the more persistent rumors was the impending purchase and reactivation of the refinery by Flying J.[citation needed] This never happened, however, and the entire refinery was finally razed in the late 1990s.

In 1991, Li Ka-shing, Hogshead Spouter and Hutchison Whampoa acquired controlling ownership of Husky.[13]

In 1998, Husky purchased Mohawk Oil, the largest independent chain of consumer filling stations in Western Canada.[14] Mohawk continues as a banner of filling stations within the Husky company.

        2. Ooz, it’s assholes like you that drove a lot of people to the PPC, you need to learn when to keep your ignorant pie-hole shut, and your China comment lowers you to the Ass kanadian level. Now FO jerk off

          1. OZ Had ZERO effect on me moving to the PPC.
SCHEERDEAU did that all by his lil lonesome NME…

            AlSaskitoba…lets git er done.!!

    1. “…we witnessed the anti-Scheer anti-CPC vitriol here at SDA…”

True. But it was scheer-the-steer who created the repugnance – and he started it from the day he ordered all his little sheep to support turdo la doo on the Paris Climate Accord. If Max hadn’t come along it just would have meant that more former Conservative voters would have stayed home on election day.

      1. I gotta be honest, most people who ditched the CPC realised what I did: Scheer was too damned lazy to just join the damn Liberal Party and oust Trudeau as leader, and become the Liberal PM he has always wanted. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him cross the floor at some point.

Many people said “fuck it, I have no dog in this fight” and stayed home. Others, like me voted for the TRUE Conservative Party: i.e. PPC. The CPC came across as just the Western wing of the LPC

    2. “…Numbers aside, we witnessed the anti-Scheer anti-CPC vitriol here at SDA.
This was how Bernier played it on every blog and social media board his Bots could access for a month leading up to the dropping of the writ and for the entire election. …”

Absolutely. Constant spam of “libcon” this and “globalist” that. And look at them today? Poof the assholes that came here when the election was called are all gone a day after.

        1. Election is over, why are you still here? You only came here when the election was called. You haven’t contributed anything, ever, just mindless spam. Go already. You no longer serve a purpose.

  13. I met Scheer 15 years ago along with most of the other Conservative Candidates.
He was easily the dumbest person in the room and the only candidate I disliked.
I had intended to spoil my ballot until the PPC ran a candidate, as I had done when Stockwell Day was the leader of the Canadian Alliance.
Anybody who thinks that PPC votes would have automatically have gone to the Conservatives is wrong.
You don’t earn my vote by virtue of there being an even bigger idiot running against you.

    1. ha ha ha !!!
ah jeez. tq mr Rupcich for verifying my very early opinion that scheer reminded me of the class clown,
popular for the comic relief, but NEVER taken seriously.
yep. that ‘goofy’ expression, looks like some early 20s something acting like a
mid-teens because that’s the level of maturity and lack of experience.

I voted PPC out of frustration and a sense of hopelessness for what LIEberals are doing to this nation
with full cooperation of hard core broken brain voters.

  14. history tells us time and again, (that’s ’cause history is, well, ALL about past events) the avg schmuck will vote for the free stuff.
that’s why socialism is such a lure.
and once the schmuck is busy enjoying the free stuff, certain economic ‘laws’ continue to simmer on the back burner until the pot boils dry (’cause all the ‘free stuff’ has been drained away). then the economic ‘laws’ assert themselves like the laws of gravity, chemical reactions, etc. thus the ‘piper’ shows up expecting to get paid. sometimes goes by the nickname Hyperinflation.

etc etc. aka short term gain, long term pain.
and the ‘free stuff’ is all used up, thus the schmucks are far worse off than ever.
given enough time anything can happen. including the dissolution of nations, demolition of an economy by socialist thinking and policies meant to buy votes which are quickly sold in exchange for ‘free stuff’.

then wait a generation or 2 or 3 until the ones who learned the lesson the hard way are gone or ignored, and re-re-re-repeat.

    1. “the avg schmuck will vote for the free stuff.”

The 1960s-early 1970s Stanford Marshmallow Experiment measured the “avg schmuck” to be 63% of the population.(read the original experiment)

Not coincidentally, that happens to be the percentile of Canadian voters who comprised the Free Shit Army yesterday.

  15. BC South Okanagan-West Kootenay went NDP (the only non-blue in the Interior) by ~800 votes over the Conservative. Our PPC candidate got around 1500 votes. Will be interesting to see how/if the Tories try to get those votes back next time.

  16. “… but his voters (Max/CPC) clearly need to be brought back into the fold….”

Nope. Ain’t gonna happen. Tell you why.

Right about now scheer-the-steer and his little poli-sci grads in their elf suits are analyzing where things went wrong. Since they are fundamentally dishonest and terminally stupid, their conclusion will be that the CPC has to rid itself of anything that smacks of small c conservatism. They will ignore the votes that went to Max; they will spend no time thinking about those who made a choice to stay home rather than cast a ballot for a bumbling coward. And last, but certainly not least, they will remain, whether willfully or through ignorance, blind to the fact that history (even Canadian history) can serve us up lots of examples where true leaders have gone from relative obscurity to power by having the courage to say what needed to be said and the wisdom to realize that cowering to the press gains you nothing but servitude.

    1. Well said Jamie, and oh so true.
There was a reason I voted PPC.
Why..Cause he spoke of those things that Fkn Well mattered..!! Thats why.
Why is that so FUCKING hard for some of you CPC wankers to understand.??

Vote splitting..?? MY ASS. I voted for what I goddamend well believed in…and Maxime spoke very clearly on those issues that mattered.

But I can see the devolution of sanity right across the the country.
The Swing to leftism too strong for many to resist.
If we are unable to separate and form a new country….??
I will likely seek to emigrate to POLAND or Hungary.

SCREW this Soon to be, UN run Islamic Climate Destroyed Socialist SHITHOLE.

  17. Conservatism is officially dead in Canada. the government will corral you and ride you to death. Kiss off now.

  18. All I know is that everyone who thought it unjust, undemocratic and just horribly unfair that Clinton did not become POTUS with a majority of votes is very quiet today.

    1. Anyone who thinks the Husky layoffs are a coincidence are knaves or fools.
Kenney is speaking at 1:00. My continued support of the UCP will be based on what he says today and what he does in the next few weeks. They get no more money from me until I see the groundwork being laid for separation. I’m not angry. I’m not lunatic. This confederation no longer works for Alberta or SK. It’s time for everyone to go their separate ways as our values are now diametrically opposed on too many issues.

  19. The left has coalesced around their common cause – CAGW couched within the inarguable phrase, “climate Change”. From now on in Canada, politics will be framed as “climate” versus “deplorable”. The institutional left has degraded education, culture and politics to where the electorate is barely sentient and to where the fear, hubris, blind faith, and implied omniscience of climate politics makes reason and economics irrelevant. This is truly a first world problem where only the fat and decadent beneficiaries of prosperity can afford to be this irrational and deluded.

Meanwhile, the so-called “right” is just as divided (more of a continuum from libertarian to unabashed quasi socialist) as ever. The political umbrella for this happens to be the CPC federally and currently lead by an ineffective squish who put off his more principled base in favour of mushy “centrists”. The split may have cost a half dozen seats but not enough for a pivotal moment. Given the concentrated CPC/PPC vote (responsible for higher national popular CPC vote with less seats) in the West where the politics of “Climate versus Deplorable” is economically fatal, if left in the hands of the federal electorate (along with a plethora of western grievances), politics should now be framed as separate and survive or go down with Canada in suicidal splendor.

    1. The only way to change the narrative is to change the lexicon, which Trump did successfully, but Scheer failed to.

    2. John,
“who put off his more principled base in favour of mushy “centrists”.”

No he did not. His platform was a good start, no carbon tax, get spending under control, cut taxes, let people keep their guns………
How many posts on just this thread says 63% are leftists in this country? That’s a hard fact that you hard core righties use to accuse Sheer of abandoning the “base” when he tries to form policy to include enough of them. The CPC or any party needs the swing votes in the centre to win. Scheer didn’t get enough of them, so now Scheer is incompetent because he abandoned his base? Your quote above reeks of pure ignorance of the way politics is done in Canada. You have to be patient and understand there will be policies you may not agree with but will make the tent larger.
You know who is really incompetent almost as much as Trudeau? Maxine Bernier. To think he could have had a challenger to the CPC in 8 months is highly delusional, along with his supporters. (not denying they truly want a better country from the right side of things but they need to bone up on how things work).
Look at the division he created in the population of right of centre folks in this country!!!!
Was he working for the Liberals/globalists? It will come out, it always does.
“We coulda had Bernie”, what f**king drivel. If CPC was lead by Bernier on the PPC platform, Trudeau would have 200 seats plus.
PPC supporters with their LibCon, Scheerdeau globalist nonsense. Look where they are now, all fools, all useful idiots. I am sick of the abuse conservatives took on this board for months when we said, zero seats, you are supporting the Liberals. Fools.
Then there is the press, Scheer could have been in a 50,000 seat arena giving the speech of his life.
Would you see it on CBC, CTV or Global. Likely not. How many networks in the US cover Trump’s rallies? ZERO. Scheer would never get press that would make him look Prime Ministerial. I can’t say this for sure because I refuse to watch the drivel on Canadian media, but am sure that’s fairly accurate.
If Scheer runs again or steps down, we need to rally round, join the CPC, go to policy conventions and do our best to make a difference. It’s a long uphill road to power especially in our situation, the deck is hugely stacked against us. But you have to make the tent big enough.
If someone tries to keep the PPC going they need to be shunned. They are fringe and rightfully out of the CPC.
Dividing the right will lead to zero chances at influence let alone power.
There are not enough of us.

  20. As we enter our winter of discontent it would be well to examine and discuss one of Steinbeck’s phrases.
“It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone.”
― John Steinbeck, The Winter of Our Discontent

When Canadians turfed Harper that was when the light dimmed. True the CPC ran an insipid campaign with the “Nice Hair” banner but they failed to shine the light on what their policies were. Last night was infinitely worse. I fear that the light has truly gone out of Canada with last nights results. When 63% of the population do not understand how our society functions then it is only a matter of time before that society fails. When a household spends more than it earns it must surely fall. The promises made by the Liberals in the 2015 election were smoke and mirrors, and what they are promising in conjunction with the NDP and Greens now will surely tax this country into oblivion. Canada was formed by people that held common societal beliefs of self reliance and responsibility, freedom and charity, in the last few decades we have thrown those beliefs into the dustbin of history. The only party to espouse those beliefs in the past election was the PPC and now without a seat to rally around those beliefs are in danger of dying in this country.

  21. As if it would have been nearly that simple.

In a world where it was easy to transfer your vote to your second choice, any transfers to a Tory from the People’s Party candidate would have been swamped by transfers from the Greens and Dippers to the Grits, and the Tories would have been wiped out outside the Prairies, never to form government again at the federal level.

In a world where the privilege of voting is doled out to any adult homo sapiens with a pulse regardless of his or her incentive to cast it responsibly, the median voter is never going to be a conservative—or even someone who pays more in taxes than he receives in benefits and wants to be assured his money is well spent. It will be some dingbat who votes Liberal because Justin has nice hair.

    1. Only those who pay taxes vote?
That would be you voter ID, your tax return & proof of work employer.
No one on welfare, in prison or who work at any level of government?
      Works for me.

  22. The CPC spent too much time going after Mad Max instead of promoting their own vision and comparing it to Justin Twojets. I had the newly elected MP from Edmonton Centre in my home and asked him point blank what Scheer’s vision for Canada was. Soon to be MP Cummings couldn’t answer me. He was a candidate and even he didn’t know where Scheer intended on taking the country. Who votes for that? Alberta Independence is the way forward.

  23. Max is finished, need a different way forward.
maybe : -take Manitoba Saskatchewan, Alberta, part of BC and part of Northern Ontario and form the country of Buffalo
    – get a charismatic smart leader for a change that espouses conservative values and is able to pull the Ontario mindset from the Laurentian elites
    – maybe investigate foreign influence, (won’t happen under Trudeau the globalist)
-Something has to change, We have a year maybe two years at most before we head back to the polls. Trudeau is too arrogant to compromise on anything

    1. Sorry – and good luck with that. You said “get a charismatic smart leader”

Charismatic smart leaders all go where the money is – business and industry – they’re ‘waaay too smart to go into politics. They know they can be in the multi-million$ penthouse in their early 40’s with a Ferrari in at least one bay of their five-car garage and a Lamborghini in one of the others, and never have to put-up with all the inane $hit the Press throws at politicians. “Mister McGonigall, you were seen fondling a woman’s breasts in public when you were a year old – what makes you think the womyn of Canada would EVER vote for a sick, depraved, racist misogynist cispatriarchal privileged reverse-pedophile like you? And you’ve openly consumed dihydrogen monoxide – CLIMATE MURDERER!!!”

As “Red” Ken Livingstone put it, the people attracted to political power are exactly the people who should be kept as far away from it as possible – and smart people don’t go there in the first place. Which is why our leaders, for several iterations now, have been so terminally stupid.

    1. A good comment from the Post: 1 hour ago

Take a day and look around you this is a test to see how aware people are of their surroundings and what affects their daily lives. Let me guess ,you are stressed about the oil industry contributing to climate change as you sit in your heated home with your electricity running through “plastic insulated wires to your plastic computer and your plastic big screen tv and your I phone Did you know that Apple emits more GHG per year than Suncor (Canada’s biggest energy provider). Do you live on a paved street? does your house have vinyl siding or windows? is there paint on the walls?Does your car have tires? are your shoes synthetic?do you wear a nylon jacket?Lawn mower have plastic wheels? Are your golf balls made of hemp or plastic? Are your glasses those nice lightweight polymer lenses? Do you have plastic cups in the cupboard? every thing you use is affected by the oil and gas industry. right down to Justin’s cute little socks.

  24. Seven seats? That would bring down Librano NDP coalition to 174. Only a four seat margin, now they have a thirteen seats margin. Turns out the useful idiots were not completely useless but still pretty useless.

    1. Another victory for the Laurentian elites, “Screw the West, we’ll take the rest”, the formulaic that has endured for last century or so…

Ken (Kulak) must be rolling over in his grave. The only benefit is he didn’t have to endure this electoral Aladdin gong show.

SNC-Lavalin stock up now that the ‘corruption index’ has rebounded.
      Snc-Lavalin Group Inc

‘Fundamentals’ improved that much in a day…hmmm.

Canadian Natural Resources Stock Price (TSE:CNQ)

    2. Seven seats?

They can always call on the Bloc if they need more support – heck, even Lizzie May would prop them up with a few seats – it’s a climate crisis after all, you know…

      1. Yes but the more people they have to call for support the more unstable the whole thing gets. The more compromises they have to make that affect the rank and file. Drunken Lizzie only has three seats. Bloc is toxic to NDP.

The bottom line is that Maxipad helped Aladdin but not a lot.

And to think that had that Vichy idiot played his hand right he could be challenging Scheer for party leadership… moron.

  25. Max lost the Beauce by more than 10 points, it wasn’t even close. But the silver lining is that the Conservatives (not Libs or Bloc) won the seat and 9 others in the Quebec City region.

Think about it: With a useless, disliked and distrusted leader (with lousy French), and in the face of a Bloc wave that swept most of the rest of Quebec, the CPC mostly kept their fortress of seats, and won most of them by huge margins.

Harper’s greatest political accomplishment was turning Quebec City into a Conservative stronghold, and, miraculously, Andy Boy managed to not f#%& it up.
    One cheer for Scheer!

Of course he still has to go ASAP. But instead of replacing him with yet another Red Tory stooge like Peter Mackay, they need to go to Quebec City (the most nationalistic and conservative city in the country) to find a winner. And that man is this man:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A9rard_Deltell

I reckon he’s fairly similar to Francois Legault, the most popular politician in Canada, combining a moderate social and economic conservatism with a fierce nationalism, opposing mass immigration and extreme multiculturalism.

Basically it’s like the Trump platform scaled down to size and Frenchified. We need someone like Deltell to bring “Legault-ism” Canada-wide. And above all to lead the charge for LOWER IMMIGRATION RATES, just like Legault has done in Quebec.

Anyway I’m just putting a marker out here. If you want to win, and on a platform worth winning on (unlike Scheer’s), then we need someone like this.

  26. Once again reality about PPC

Failed miserably 1.6% and NO SEATS

Max enjoys a lifestyle $$ that’s why he didn’t resign as CPC and run as PPC inbuilt election $175K tax $$

Max will not have an income. Do needs to get a Full time job – not skip out on HofC duties while building PPCas cost to taxpayers $175K

PPCs finances will be published- and in guessing -PPC BROKE.

So all in all this vanity project has hurt Conservative in real Seats and focus on Liberals— too much focus on PPC (RIGHTLY) helped Trudeau.

I wish people w’d understand how hard it is for conservatives OF ANY KIND TO WIN AFTER THIS ELECTION

Let’s unite – don’t make perfect the enemy of good allowing BAD to win

    1. Why unite with a party that isn’t conservative or right wing?

The only use the Conservative Party has for its base is to grind money out of them. Beyond that you’re nothing to them.

The party can’t even have a simple One Member One Vote or even bother to open a polling station in Calgary for its leadership election.

Want free speech? Want your Conservative politicians to speak to right leaning media? Nope, not for this party.

    2. Reform Party of Canada
      1987 Election 2.09% of vote, 0 seats
      1993 Election 18.69% of vote, 52 seats
      1997 Election 19.35% of vote, 60 seats
      ’nuff said.

  27. Max failed about as hard as Scheer. Shoulda kept Rona!

This election demonstrates once again that polls tend to be pretty accurate.

    1. Should have kept Rona.. Nope
Should have elected Dr. Kellie Leitch.
Decrim, not legalize dope, no to carbon taxing/pricing schemes, values-means test for immigrants, defund and dismantle CBC.
Ticks all the right boxes this lady does.

      1. The ’50s called and it wants its stupid ideas back. Nope, not interested in funding the war on marijuana. Not interested in imposing ‘Canadian values’ (whatever that means) on foreign people and paying for it. Leech is a disease and so is anyone supporting her.

  28. The CPC is what passes as a conservative party in Canada. Not long ago we had a party that was to the right of the PC – the Reform Party.

The PC’s/Reform went 0-3 to the LPC during that time. Harper/McKay pulled the ‘conservatives’ together and had some good success.

Canada is a very liberal country and is moving further left. It is extremely difficult for conservatives to ever form government. Conditions have to be almost perfect and the country needs to be pissed at the libranos before conservatives have a chance.

I wish we had a conservative option as much as anyone on this site but we don’t and we wont. A hard core right party is not electable. Look at the total vote the PPC got. They have no seats and no place to grow because Canadians are progressives.

I said it here before that I wish Max would have stayed but he didn’t. He took his shot and we saw what the entire nation thinks of a party to the right of the CPC.

It’s reality folks. People that think like the SDA crowd are a tiny minority. We have no place to go and we wont until the rest of the country changes it’s philosophy. It’s not happening any time soon. Were stuck with a ‘conservative’ party that looks much like the LPC.

Sheer didn’t excite the electorate. He did increase the seat count and maybe by the next election conditions will be right and voters will consider the CPC. Maybe.

  29. It looks like Husky is laying of 100s of Calgarians today.

When I was in the military, colleagues from the East Coast would tell me how people would be watching the TV (either at home or at the bar) to find out who won the provincial election and therefore whether or not they had a job the next day. This, of course, was due to the massively corrupt patronage system that did, and I imagine still does, operate in that neck of the woods.

Similar thing now, it seems, except it’s not so much patronage through providing jobs to supporters as killing jobs for others to satisfy supporters (who somehow don’t seem to need jobs…)

  30. Unusual Politics as Usual dept
A measure of left coast lunacy is found in the Burnaby-Mt Seymour riding.
The incumbent Liberal won with 17,404 votes – 35.5 %.
    NDP icon Svend Robinson came 2nd with 15,844 votes – 32.3 %
The CPC denounced/exiled their candidate for ‘hate’ speech, yet she gained 9,572 votes – 19.5 %
    Green candidate came 4th with 4,630 votes – 9.5 %
