      1. The problem is that he does not have to commit to a federal handgun ban. All he needs to do is allow municipalities to enact their own handgun bans. And then he can wash his hands off, leaving the decisions to them. Not his fault. It was their decision. So you like to keep your guns? Speak to a braindead vegetable that is your mayor.

        This will spiral out of control within weeks. Every city council which are routinely staffed with activist apparatchiks will enact their own bans. Some holdouts in some rural areas will survive. But they will get choked out over time as well. Oh yes they will.

        Yes even them. What if there is no gun shop in your area? How are you going to have your guns serviced when adjacent areas prohibit handguns and you have to drive through them to get to the nearest shop?

        And do you remember that you need to be member in good standing of a certified range in order to have handguns? What if there is no range in your area? What if the range you used to be member off closed because a bunch of whores on the city council and publik safety? If he goes through with letting municipalities regulate gun ownership, at least 95% of Canadian population including all medium and large cities will be legal handgun free within one electoral cycle. And he does not have to do anything else but let municipalities regulate them.

        And let’s remember that Aladdin is promising an “assault weapons ban” independent of the city handgun bans. You do realize it is not that difficult to decide that all handguns are “assault weapons”, right?

        It is not even death of a thousand cuts, it is death to a bureaucratic chainsaw.

        If he gets to form next government all legally owned semi autos and handguns will be gone by the time of next election.

    2. Arresting and punishing the criminals would go along way to stopping the gang related crime in Toronto. The death penalty for the murders these killers are involved in would stop some of it permanently. Murder is illegal and it still happens, making all guns illegal will never get rid of guns.

    4. I agree and I don’t. Stephen Harper cut GST and no one noticed, and each 1% was worth $1billion back then, certainly more now. An income tax reduction is much more visible and leaves money in peoples’ pockets; that, they notice. Also, GST/HST/VAT, or whatever you call it, is a very efficient tax. So far, politicians have avoided making bijou GST cuts like they do with income tax … oh, wait, who’s talking about luxury tax via GST?

      Both systems of tax encourage governments to favor inflation, as does their debt.

      The one truth is that governments must be forced to stop taking our money, it’s crushing us (not the royal we). Governments take 50% of my hard earned money. Dangling a bijou tax break in front of me does not cut it. Vote Mad Max and the PPC, he’s mad enough to do it.

        1. Raymond M, I can’t speak for other provinces, but in Ontario, the percentage taxed when changed to the HST is the same. Prior to the GST cut, The GST was 7% and the PST was 8% for a total of 15%. After the cut the was GST 5% and the PST was 8% for a total of 13%. When the HST came into effect, it was set at 13%. The same.

          The only difference was the the PST wasn’t applied to certain purchases i.e. gas. When the HST came in, we now were paying more 8% tax on those items which previously didn’t have the provincial portion.

          1. Maritimes jacked up their provincial rates.

            Ontario made previous PST exempt services subject to the HST e.g. hydro & natural gas , internet, home repairs.

          2. Nfld is essentially bankrupt. Their bills will have to be paid by the feds. The rest of fishworld is standing at the end of the plank ready to take the high jump when the bank calls.

            They have raised taxes but are finding out there is a rule without exception. I doesn’t matter how high you raise taxes you will not collect one additional dime in revenue once you reach the tipping point with taxpayers. You can raise taxes to 100% but nobody in their right mind will voluntarily pay it. Taxpayers find a way to play the game and keep their hard earned money. Ask Greece.

            Once you put yourself in the position of being beholden to government largesse you are captive. They own you. You have been lured into the cage. Little wonder they sell their vote to the highest bidder.

        3. There had been a chronic problem with too much money at the Federal level, while major expenses were at the Provincial level (health care, education, etc.). There was a fiscal imbalance. I thought part of the strategy under Harper was to use the GST cuts as an easy way to address the fiscal imbalance. Even as provincial increases under the HST kicked in, I thought it was an effective strategy. How I miss a government focussed on addressing real problems now that we have the current Liberal regime concerning itself more with implementing the globalist agenda.

      2. Robert, when one level of governments cuts one item and other levels of government increase multiple taxes there is never a gain by the burdened moronic taxpayers.

    A woman asleep in her apartment early Tuesday awoke to the terrifying image of a man standing over her wielding a knife, Toronto Police say.
