I’m watching the movie Charade with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant on TCM right now. It’s a genuinely fun flick. It’s a pity that Hollywood doesn’t make ’em like that any more. It’s got just about everything one wants in a film: drama, romance, comedy, a foreign setting, a great story, a terrific cast, and a soundtrack by Henry Mancini.
I recently placed an order for a DVD copy as it’s worth adding to my collection. If you like North By Northwest, this one might appeal to you as well.
TODAY’S QUESTION
Should Maxime Bernier be allowed into the leaders’ debates? https://www.ctvnews.ca/
In a word yes. The PPC is a valid Canadian political party and as such it should be mandated that he be in the debate. When did this backwater start emulating third world dictatorships? I should know the answer to my own question, I have been around long enough to know.
– In another word, “YES!”, just to go on-camera and put out in-front of the others, some of the issues they’re roundly (and happily) ignoring so we can watch them squirm.
“Look, I signed an agreement before the debate started that nobody was going to mention the deficit OR immigration OR SNC Lavalin OR global warming – so where does he get off?”
It needs help
As predicted, Justin’s ethics issues have disappeared.
Minor related stories on effects, but not on the PM himself.
Another week and it won’t even be an election issue.
As I have said in the past ethics are meaningless as they are situational. Morality however is not.
Today General Kim Sung Trudeau attends the UNIFOR convention in Quebec at taxpayer expense. You know, the Unifor that all journalists belong to, and will be on a panel to oversee election coverage in the media. He also will be throwing money around the province. And Trudeau’s loyal Unifor media are using gay sex to distract from his Lavalin scandal. Lots of coverage of Justin marching in the pride parade in Montreal with his cute pink shirt. They pointed out that homophobic Scheer didn’t attend. The CBC also had a segment on how Scheer Nazis disrupted drag queens from reading to small children. The media reminds us that summer in Canada is about celebrating men screwing other men. Don’t be a homophobic Nazi, join Team Trudeau.
The comments are hilarious. People blame Trump and the military for a lack of municipal spending on infrastructure.
“Today, the state [of New Jersey] legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic, and has been since the early 2000s. As of December 2016, there are over 860,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans.” Wikipedia.

It’s also funny hearing San Fran snivel about its brown-sidewalk problems. As Instapundit points-out, the last Republican mayor of San Fran left office in 1964.
Strange how there is no talk of the Lavalin scandal at the CBC or CTV today.

“Five parties made the cut for this year. As usual, there’s been an outcry — there is always an outcry. This time it’s because the People’s Party of disgruntled former Conservative cabinet minister Maxime Bernier was left off the list. Bernier stalked out of the Tory caucus after he failed to be elected leader. Since then he’s busied himself claiming he was robbed, while assembling a party of people willing to support his “vision,” which consists largely of hostility to immigration and sad echoes of Trumpism, including pledges to build a fence along areas of the border and “make Canada great again.”
“Canada being a democracy, everyone gets to have their say, no matter how batty. But Bernier wasn’t left off the list because he can’t produce a better agenda than one that parrots the U.S. president; his exclusion came because he managed to meet only one of the three criteria. The PP has yet to elect a candidate, and its polls suggest its candidates have little chance of being elected.”
“The People’s Party is all about Bernier, and pretty much only about Bernier. Without him it would quickly disappear. Why give this guy a chance to share his personal gripes with millions of Canadians?”
OTTAWA — Elections Canada says it will decide on a case-by-case basis whether discussing the legitimacy of climate change becomes a partisan issue for third parties during the federal campaign, and only if it receives complaints.
Environment groups say they feel muzzled from speaking out about the urgency of climate change after the federal elections agency warned earlier this summer that doing so could be considered partisan.
The Canada Elections Act could consider advertising partisan if it opposes or supports a policy positions of any party or candidate, even without naming them.
If the advertising exceeds $500, third parties would have to register with Elections Canada, raising fears among some environmental charities that the Canada Revenue Agency could also decide they are partisan and put their tax status in jeopardy.
In the case of climate change, People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier has taken a position that climate change is not an emergency nor caused by humans, which could potentially makes any argument saying differently a partisan statement under the law.
Clean Energy Canada has already restricted some of its responses to party positions to avoid running afoul of the law, while Greenpeace Canada is planning to cease all advertising on climate change during the writ period.
An Elections Canada spokeswoman says the rules around advertising for third parties are not new, but concedes the concerns about climate change may be coming up only now because the environment is poised to play a bigger role in the campaign, which is expected to get underway early next month.
Trudeau vents frustration that climate change could be a partisan issue

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the fact an organization could be labelled partisan by Elections Canada just for saying that climate change is real underscores the frustration that there are still some politicians who don’t believe climate change is a problem.
Trudeau is reacting after some environment groups were warned to watch what they say about climate change during the upcoming federal campaign because People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier believes climate change is neither an emergency nor caused by people.
Speaking at an event in Quebec City, Trudeau says he respects the independence of Elections Canada to decide whether something is partisan under the Act.
But he says climate change is only a subject for debate because some “conservative” politicians will not agree that climate change is real and in need of a government response.
The Conservative Party has already deployed a mass text campaign this spring, on the carbon tax, to people in provinces where the federal carbon tax was being implemented. The texts from party leader Andrew Scheer directed voters to a petition opposing the carbon tax. In that instance, people who may have never given their number to the party were contacted. That’s because the party used software that auto-generates numbers with specific area codes in order to blast out the text messages.
“Andrew Scheer here.”
If you live in the four provinces where the federal carbon tax is being introduced, you might get a text message from the Conservative Party leader telling you to fill your gas tank this weekend.
Scheer will put a price on carbon for large emitters but says ‘it’s not a tax’
The beauty of this is the Liberal corrupt and new Canada Elections Act of advertising partisan law is biting Trudope right back and limiting what he can say during the election concerning Climate Emergency
We had a high temp of 98 deg.F Friday afternoon. PG&E’s equipment cannot cope with 98 deg. weather. I honestly don’t know why the entire Utility isn’t shut down and a new competitive truly FREE MARKET Utility replaces it. Decades and decades of neglecting basic electric infrastructure has led to the demise of the Utility. Time to start over.
The government is curing their state imposed monopoly on electrical supply.
The control of the utilities has been a wonderful tool to steal from the customers, but all good things have to end.

You can tell our little dictator has journalists in his back pocket. I watched him give a brief press conference today at one of his many money giveaways in Quebec. The media only asked him a couple of softball questions about Lavalin. One question looked like it was given to her by Justin’s staff as she asked him about how wonderful it is that he is making changes so a Lavalin situation doesn’t happen again. Actually the so called journalists asked more questions about whether Justin was going to give more money to newspapers. And of course he ranted as usual about evil Jason Kenney and other Conservative premiers.
