Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I wouldn’t be surprised if teachers started teaching behind those plexiglass barriers they put up at convenience stores and gas stations in shady neighborhoods.
Teachers overwhelmingly support the party of turdo. I wonder, are they learning anything yet?
No, well then keep up the ‘good’ work and don’t forget to put on your kevlar pantyhose.
Until last month I was a teacher. I am also a Viet-Nam veteran. Stereotype THIS.
Are you saying that:
– teacher’s don’t support the liberals,
– teacher’s that are vets don’t support liberals,
– vets don’t support liberals,
– you don’t support liberals, or
– you’re not sure.
Cause I am damn sure that teacher’s overwhelmingly support the liberals. Facts are not stereotypes, they are facts!
just noticed the damn auto spell put an apostrophe after teacher every time, must be turdo software
I made this comment in the past and will make it again. I and many of my friends at 12 to 13 years of age were given guns by our parents or grandparents. Myself a shotgun and a 22. We did not go around killing people and the police did not come knocking on our doors. The question is were we more intelligent than the current crop of lunatics or were moral values taught that prevented us from doing what is being done today? I suggest both are true.
we, the generation that grew up in the late 40’s to early 60’s, were taught right from wrong, were given punishment if we did wrong and learned that there are consequences if you do not give true respect to elders and others deserving of it. My dad would go hunting for rabbits with his shotgun and on the way home, walking, he would go into the bank and withdraw some cash for home expenses. No one got excited, he was walking down the downtown main street with a shotgun. We as a generation have abdigated our responsibilities and allowed tv, the media and schools to reduce our civilization to a cesspool.
Precisely….(my mom kept a large wooden spoon at the Dinner table),
We have allowed our children to be indoctrinated into a Cesspool of Marxist Trough feeding useless drones that all prefer to feed off Tax Paying hard working individuals whilst Screaming there are NAZI’s running amok. (I made damned sure My 2 Girls came out of all that BS as good Conservative thinking girls now… 25-28)
This is what our Education systems have bred for the past 40 years…along with completely dumbing down the curriculum while ensuring EVERYONE passes regardless of effort.
Old and emerging COMMUNISTS the lot.
Teachers and their UNIONS at the root of it all.
In Fact I remain fully committed to see ALL Public Service Unions DE-CERTIFIED.
Legalized Extortion.
(my mom kept a large wooden spoon at the Dinner table)
Mine kept one in a kitchen drawer and I’m sure it was as deadly as the one your mother had. Woe betide me if she felt compelled to use it. Failing that, my father easily took care of business, if you know what I mean.
When I mention to people that my parents sometimes resorted to physical discipline, the response is often shock and horror. They thought that I turned out to be warped, and they were right. I was so warped that I was never in jail, never did drugs and, worse, went on to get a good education and become a member of a respected profession. Yup, my parents sure made a mess of me, didn’t they?
Ha ha ha ha … “taught right from wrong”. Ahhhh hahahaha ha ha.
“Moral Relativism” has replaced those old fables about “God” “Christian morality” and “golden rules”. Now it is every man for himself, and anything is permissible if you “f-e-e-l” it’s “right”.
There is no more “right” and “wrong”. There is no more “black” or “white”. Everything is a gray area. Shoplifting = economic justice. Murder = slavery reparations. Anything can be excused by anything else. The only limits are the imagination of your lawyer and/or advocacy group.
While both factors are true I would put a greater emphasis on moral values. Moral values are not something that can be told to you once and they stick, you must see them everywhere and be re-exposed to them on a regular basis. Today young people people don’t always see moral behaviour in the home, certainly they don’t see it in the media, are being taught in the classroom that everyones values are valid and don’t go to church. Is it little wonder that having a clear idea of what is right and wrong is fading rapidly.
And to Frenchie77, I’m a retired teacher I’ve never voted for a trudeau and have never voted liberal or any party to the left of them. There are many of us in the educational field who are disgusted by what we see happening in Cdn government and Canadian society.
Given most posters here do not support the liberals, undork being an obvious exception, it is no surprise that you don’t support them either.
However, most current teachers do, and the percentage gets only gets higher the younger the teacher is. There are many polls/studies/contribution lists, etc showing this.
The left targeted public education for takeover a century ago, it is locked up tight in their control.
The Children Are Our Future. That is why I own a lot of guns and live in the country.
“The fact that were using Kevlar in the classroom……………”
The fact is – whose fault is that.
Teachers. Meh. They voted for it. Their union fought for it. Suck it TF up.
Most states forbid collective bargaining by teachers. Grow up.
Perhaps. Dont know my yankee laws. But since we are talking about Canada, teachers are all public service unions and militant leftists.
And i really dont want to get any older. Thank you.
Some are blaming class sizes. Too many kids dontcha know. I went to school in the 50’s and 60’s, 40 plus kids in the class was the norm not the exception. Maybe I’m getting old but I don’t remember teachers wearing body armour.
It would appear that the administrative people in the school board have been preoccupied with objectives other than the welfare of students and staff in the schools. What could be more important?
Oh of course, sex ed, yes thats it.
Oh and racism and Islamophobia too.
Now this would be a good time for a random act of journalism, where one of the scribes on retainer asks the Sockmonkey if he’s worried as a parent about the violence in the schools that one of his children would attend.
It would appear that the administrative people in the school board have been preoccupied with objectives other than the welfare of students and staff in the schools.
Yup. I noticed that at the post-secondary institution where I used to teach. The senior administration often ignored any of our concerns. Teaching in that place wasn’t about conveying wisdom and knowledge but “meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations” of our “customers”.
You can bet your bottom dollar that PM Sockmoney is sending his kids to an exclusive, elite, expensive private school where violence would never be tolerated.
The kevlar is being worn because of Special Needs kids.
In the old days, when things were done rationally, kids of all ages with really unmanageable behavior problems due to brain damage or birth defects went to a special facility where the staff were trained and equipped to handle them. The staff would wear bite-sleeves, helmets, shoulder pads etc. because the kids would routinely bite and hit. This sort of thing does happen, so facilities to handle it were developed.
Those kids are now in the schools. Being “mainstreamed” in the same classrooms as normal kids. Which is insanity, and very expensive.
Some of these kids have not one but two full-time minders, and an entire room dedicated just to them. I’ve seen reports of schools routinely put on lockdown, so they can safely transfer a kid from classroom to chill-out room when they’re having an “episode”. And by routinely I mean a couple times a week.
Why does the Teacher’s Union support turning the public schools into mental hospitals for the violently insane? Because then they can cry for more/better/bigger budgets and more staff etc.
As usual, just follow the money and you’ll find the answer.
And you know, the really -cruel- part of all this is that when the kid gets to be 18, they drop kick them out of the system into the big wide world with zero support.
“Mainstreamed” basket cases are the bane of my 1st Grade Teacher spouse. These kids take up 30-40% of her time and wreck her kids near perfect test scores. She has several programs that she uses to teach that break down their achievements into colorful bar charts green=proficient, yellow=marginal, red=basket case who doesn’t understand a damn thing they’ve been taught. She spends wayyyyyy too much time dragging the one or two kids out of the RED than she does enriching the kids who are doing well.
And the behaviour problems these kids bring to her classroom are, at times … dangerous. Yes … a 1st graders behaviour issues DANGEROUS. Mostly to the other students, not my wife … if that’s any consolation.
Thanks to the above who noticed the article refers to “special needs” children. Our daughter is an Educational Assistant (EA) in the Durham Board east of Toronto. She is placed in a special program dealing with these children and yes, they often on a daily basis have to wear protective gear including vests to protect against bites, scratches, etc. The children’s parents are often the problem in that they don’t want to understand how screwed up their children are (and no fault of the children who in cases function at the level of a two year old). The fact these children aren’t in an institution I strongly suspect is not due to teacher’s unions but to the courts and governments – much the same as the mentally ill who are turned out onto the streets to care for themselves.
That’s the precise reason they’re mainstreamed. The special needs kids sued to be treated “equal” … with no regard to the unintended consequences. And since the schools save $$ by squeezing these kids into the classrooms (fewer “special” teachers and classes) … it was a no brainer. Just tell the teachers to shut up and deal with it. Add to that several ESL (English second language) “learners” … and you’ve laden teachers with a bevy of tasks unrelated to the curriculum.
My advice? If you can afford it … Home School or private school your kids. I say that even though my wife is a superb public school teacher. But.
Any children worth trying to educate can get a perfect education at a fraction of what it costs to fund a public school education with the aid of a library card and an Internet connection.
We all know what needs doing with the others. Catch them, neuter them, deport them to Liberia or point of origin.
America does not have a school violence problem. It has a plague of Negroes and low-IQ immigrants—a disease which could be eradicated in a matter of months had generations of liberal politicians not stood in the way.
Hey troll, does it hurt being as stupid as you are? Does the stupid actually burn? Does your mom put the fire out and then spoon-feed you before sending you back to the basement every day?
The next time someone argues for stripping Internet content platforms of their s.230 protections, I’m going to point to this thread as an example of why that’s a really bad idea.
I mean, you all like commenting here, right?
I see people complaining about the teacher’s unions. Well, the union is about the union. Always has been, always will be. Union don’t care about education, teachers, students, nothing but the union.
And the teachers have done nothing about it. They have not decertified. They have not gathered in mobs to beat the living sheet out of union management. They have not picketed the union boss’ house, or union headquarters. They have not withheld dues from the union.
So the students can beat and kill the teachers, I do not care; because the teachers are part of the problem, and not a single one of them is “good” in any way. Any good ones will have long since simply left. Anyone still there is simply there for the sinecure.
LMAO Kevin….but I must Wholly agree with you.
I too have ZERO sympathy for these Marxist bastards.
One of my good friends here in Calgary has a daughter that my daughter grew up with, played soccer with etc. Now..?? They dont speak to ea. other and havent for over 7 years. The other one a Teacher & now of course part of the Alberta Teachers Ass…wholly Indoctrinated in the UNION, Notley suporter and hates Kenney with a passion.
Was explaining on a FB post why there needed to be Cuts to Public Servants wages and #’s thereof in Alberta and you’da thought I was suggesting the OVENS..the replies were Virulently disgusting.
No Christmas Card for her…..!!
Union don’t care about education, teachers, students, nothing but the union.
At the post-secondary institution where I used to teach, one former staff association president was well-known for that. He was good for fighting for the staff as a whole, but if, say, an individual had difficulties with an adminstrator. tjat person was treated as a problem that needed to be made to go away.
Fun fact of the day: Kevlar was invented by a woman in 1965.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-27951043
“Fun” fact? AYFKM? Du Pont invented Kevlar … BIG Chemical! Du Pont that has slaughtered millions upon millions of poor Brown people in pursuit of the white man’s profits. They have armored the US military, so they can slaughter safely from the skies in support of capitalist oppression. Who invented Kevlar? The great Satan invented Kevlar! /sarc.
It is SO easy to be a leftist tool
Back in the day nutcases were in nuthouses and violent kids were in reform schools, later graduating to prison. We know exactly how to solve these problems but we won’t. And as the article intimated, a lot of violence is due to Trudeau’s diversity. Immigrants from dysfunctional (shithole) countries with murder rates 10 to 100 times Canada’s don’t suddenly stop killing when they come to a country full of soft targets.
Many great comments above.
One of my sons-in-law is a teacher has never voted for leftist parties, but dare not tell his fellow teachers.
All of the points above can be summed up by the fact that we as a society have allowed Marxists to take over our school boards and our teacher’s federations (unions).
We will have the last laugh. As the retired teachers and government employees get older and start getting sick they will have to endure one of the western world’s crappiest (free) health care systems.
Many, if not most of these violent kids have special needs, but I’ll bet a good number are just undisciplined brats, for which I blame the parents. A related issue – a daily newspaper in Montreal is reportiong that recreation centres and other employers are forced to recruit retired baby boomers for summer jobs usually held by students because young people have demands – lots of demands. They won’t work evenings or weekends because they want to hang out with their friends. They want two weeks off mid-season so they can go on vacation. They don’t want to work more than three hours a day – and on and on. Who is raising these entitled little princes and princesses?
teachers under attack?
ya dont say.
well that’s a switch!
I got batted around at the age of 6 by a teacherrrrrrrr who made sure the whole class knew I was a dummy who couldnt keep track in reading circle.
allow me a simulation, complete with pregnant pauses:
see………………………..Spot.
see…………………………Spot………………………………………………………..run.
run………………………….Spot.
………………………………..run.
I still recollect 2 things, wondering wtf was the problem for these dummies, and
panicking thinking is this ALL there is to reading????????????????? I gotta find something else in this ghastly textbook.
oopsie!! lost my place !!!!!!
time to get belted !!!!!!!!!!! LOTS of THAT going on !!!!!!!!!!!!
The very LAST of my teachers who appreciated my natural-born snarky sense of humor was my Firstgrade teacher at Skycrest Elementary (when brand new 1950’s schools were named after man’s aspirational achievements … not after angry/negative leftist activists). She literally wanted to hold me back another year … because I kept her laughing all day. Well, she had no choice but to promote me … and not a single teacher hence understood or appreciated my sense of humor. Dried up old hags, the whole lot of em … and some were downright MEAN.
