  1. Bill C-71 Passes Final Vote in Senate as New Law to Ban Guns

    TheGunBlog.ca — Bill C-71 passed its third and final vote in the Canadian Senate today as the governing Liberal Party’s new law to criminalize hunters, farmers and sport shooters and take away more of their guns.

    Senators voted 55 in favour and 33 against at 5:34 p.m. in Ottawa with 2 abstentions. Pro-Liberal members supported the bill. The opposition Conservative Party voted against, as did Senators Michael Duffy, Pamela Wallin and David Richards.

      Any paleo-geneticists out there who have delved into human female “fertility and receptiveness” and diet?

      As an interesting aside, some decades ago, there was a problem in India, of people, especially women, presenting to medical centres with aluminium poisoning.

      The eventual source was NOT some large-scale environmental pollution, but the consequence of “keeping up with the Singhs” or whoever.

      The Hindu prohibition on beef and the Muslim one on pork are well known, but this was not the cause.
      Eventually it transpired that even vegetarians were getting iron in traditional cooking because they traditionally used IRON pots and pans. The scraping of iron or steel utensils against the iron pots during cooking delivered minute but measurable amounts of iron to the table.

      Ditching the old pots for the Gucci aluminium ones did two things. Firstly, it greatly reduced the amount of iron available for uptake. Secondly, the absence of iron exacerbated the toxic effects of auminium in the human body.

      Popular culture trivia reference for aluminium poisoning: Buddy Ebsen (“Beverley Hillbillies”) was picked to play the Tin Man in “The Wizard of Oz”. He had a VERY bad reaction to the Aluminium powder used as body make-up and was replaced by Ray Bolger.

  5. Young woman killed, teen injured after father sets fire at Calgary home: police
    CALGARY — Police say a young woman was killed and her teenage sister badly injured in a fire set by their father who also died in the home where there had been a history of conflict.

    “What we know at this point is there was a lot of domestic tension within this residence, which led to a violent confrontation on Saturday and we are investigating this as a homicide as well as an attempted murder,” Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said Tuesday.

    Investigators believe Heidar Dehdari, 56, was fighting with his daughters in their suburban northwest Calgary house before he intentionally set a fire that led to an explosion. It’s not clear where the blaze started.

    He and 22-year-old Dorsa Dehdari died, but investigators aren’t sure whether the father intended to kill himself along with his daughters….

    1. Going through the names listed in the notes, I saw that Adrian Cronauer had died. He was the character portrayed by Robin Williams in the movie Good Morning, Viet Nam.

      One thing that isn’t as well-known about him was that he was also a member of Mensa.

        I know the area and in the 60s and 70s there were many new triplex homes built there. Young couples were attracted to the place where they could grow their families and ‘hockey sticks’ in the back yard. (ie: tomatoes) and make their own red wine. These homes had quality construction with marble and hardwood floors and attached garages. (The apartments were also well built, but somewhat less luxurious) Most importantly they had their wonderful grocery stores in the area where they could get the best deli meats and bread, etc.

        As the homes aged “they” moved to Laval, off the island just north of the aforementioned area, and into the single family mega mansions.

  16. Mueller in precis: Barr got my report right, but me and my team loathe Trump so my conclusion is I am not highly confident Donald Trump did not commit a crime. But if he did I would say so, which I didn’t, and can’t indict anyway. Btw, the media is full of crap.

      1. Mueller confirmed his report is a political, not law enforcement document. This was the intent all along.
        Now Mueller thinks he can walk away, he’s kidding himself. The Senate should subpoena him to clear up the ambiguity.

        Bottom line – once again no tangible evidence of any crime yet they’re not convinced he clearly didn’t; or whatever.

        If American voters don’t punish repudiation of due process and presumption of innocence, the police state is nearby.

    2. There is no doubt the Mueller’s press statement is a blow to Trump. Of course on the news there is no mention of his opening which stated all presumed innocent and lots about the insinuation he obstructed justice but I am not allowed to charge him. Upon reflection there is more than a few things worth noting. We should not be surprised as he is a former director of the FBI. You do not attain his stature in public service without knowing and following the number one rule. That rule being “cover your ass.” Trump is up against some very powerful and unscrupulous people. It remains to be seen if he can survive it. The one outlier is there is a significant number of people who recognize the difference in treatment of people who have destroyed cell phones, erased data, destroyed computers being exonerated and defending yourself being construed as obstruction.

The CBC is excited that Groper has stated that he will lecture Vice President Pence when he arrives, on abortion in the States and how awful conservative groups treat women. Yes its time to piss off the States again. And in Question Period, Groper praised the UNIFOR president a couple of times and accused the Conservatives of wanting to get rid of the CBC.
