  1. This AM, May 16, Justin Trudeau’s personal propaganda machine at CBC and CTV reported that our PM had attended the VIVA technology conference in Paris. The Viva conference is made up of several tech companies that offer (for example) a host of online tools for governments to spy on their citizens.

Quite different from what the same two networks were saying two days ago when they told us that Trudeau was attending a conference win Paris where he would meet with New Zealand’s PM to discuss internet terrorism and other illegal activity that leads to events such as the recent mosque shootings in that country. Now Mr. Trudeau is proposing a charter that would allow the government of Canada to monitor and control internet use. How convenient on the eve of an election to have the tools that would allow Justin the spyware required to check out what the opposition is planning. Worst yet would be for Trudeau to have the spyware required to keep track of ongoing investigations at SNC Lavalee of at the Royal Canadian Navy.

      1. Bill Blair must get a giant diamond cutter thinking about getting that tech up and running in Canadistan.

    1. Why doesn’t she say she appropriated Viking throat singing, or Tuvan, Mongolian, Sardinian, South African, Iranian, Afghani, Pakistani, Sami (Finn), or Japanese throat singing? We don’t actually think the Eskimos invented anything. They likely got throat singing from the Tuvans or Mongolians in antiquity.

      1. I see the Indians are even claiming Bannock as a traditional food, and somehow firearms are traditional now as well.

    2. cultural appropriation?
it ALL hinges on PROVING a member of YOUR culture was the. very. first. to come up with the given practice, artifact, behavior, wtfever. and NOT merely a case of YOUR culture wound up being the predominant one making use of, popularizing wtfever said artifact, practice, etc.
how is it possible to know WHO came up with hooped earrings? some neanderthal bored genius child?
      hmmm?
how the FCUK can ANY claims be made re WHO was the first? and egad, what if said practice was invented INDEPENDENTLY all over the world? is it still a contest who came up with it first?
      hmmm?

in other words did your culture INVENT the thing or merely BULLY your way into dominant usage?

      how is that possible?

      more leftist shithead crapola.

  2. I listened to a bit of that YouTube clip. It sounds familiar, so I might have heard it when it was originally aired. I’ll have to listen to the full show later on.

It’s nice to hear Rex Loring’s voice again. Now there was a broadcaster!

While we’re on CBC nostalgia, many SDAers should remember this blast from the past:

    and, over the closing credits:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_waAPrh_Oo

I hear both pieces countless times while I was an undergrad as I used to be an avid listener of As It Happens, going back to when William Ronald and Harry Brown were the hosts when it was only on Monday nights.

      1. I have a lot of pleasant memories of AIH in its early days.

As I mentioned, it used be on Monday nights only. When I first started listening in 1970, artist William Ronald and Harry Brown were co-hosts and the show was live to air. One result was that each time zone didn’t get the same program, which made things interesting. In addition, between interviews, they played recordings and it was in one of those intervals that I first heard Monty Python.

By the way, it had a different theme back then, a piece played on a synthesizer and, after all these years, I still haven’t been able to track it down.

About a year after the show first went on the air, a parallel show with the same format started: Radio Free Friday with Peter Gzowski, well before he hosted This Country In The Morning and, later, Morningside.

Eventually, the two shows were combined and re-named As It Happens as it went out each weeknight. It took a while before it settled on its two best-known co-hosts: Barbara Frum and Alan Maitland.

That’s when it adopted the music by Moe Koffmann as its opening and closing themes.

The show and its approach was unique. A few years later, NPR copied it with its show All Things Considered, which I often heard on shortwave through the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service.

The show lost its focus after Frum left and went to CBC TV to host The Journal. When windbag Michael Enwright became host, I stopped listening altogether after being a fan for some 20 years.

        1. “I have a lot of pleasant memories of AIH in its early days.” As did I in the 1970s and 80s. I would look forward to spring and the field work of seeding, summer tractor work and harvest so that I could listen to the show while the tractor or combine was humming in the back ground.

Then the show began to become overtly leftist political. Haven’t listened to CBC since the 1990s.

          1. Then the show began to become overtly leftist political. Haven’t listened to CBC since the 1990s.

Exactly. By then, its original innovation and irreverence had long gone.

Speaking of irreverence, do you remember when Isaac Asimov used his weekly science segment as an opportunity to recite naughty limericks? That would have been more than 40 years ago. I roared with laughter when I heard them, but Frum and Maitland must have tried hard to keep straight faces through that show.

          2. I’m the same. started to listen to CBC radio in the late ’80’s when I was in Petawawa. It was the only radio station I could get. I kept listening to it for a while after moving back to Toronto because I liked their lack of ads every ten seconds. I could only handle CBC Toronto for a short while before I decided I was better off listening to the ads.

    1. Can’t read the article but the only thing Trudeau is behind is maybe a glory hole.
No doubt Telford & Butts and Brison easily convinced The Turnip.
The Liberals were and are so very consumed with their hatred of Harper, but especially The Turnip as Harper represented the west and The Turnip hates westerners with his every limp wristed fiber. Anyone associated with the past government was to be attacked.

      1. The other source of animosity towards Harper surely would be that Harper was a capable Prime Minister who worked in the best interests of Canada and Justin merely the front man for his misguided cabal. We are being sold down the river to internationalist. So sad.

    2. Are you sure that this is a big deal? Nothing sticks to Trudeau, the TV media will downplay this and the polls will be fudged to show Trudeau within range of forming the next government.

      1. Ken, agreed. So far the other big media have said nothing about this. And breaking news, the U.S. and Canada have just signed a steel trade agreement, with Trudeau scheduled to visit steelworkers in Hamilton momentarily and hold a news conference. So that will be the story in the pro-Liberal media today — boosting Trudeau at a steel mill.

Btw, the House Justice Committee voted down the opposition request to hold hearings on the Mark Norman affair. Barely a word of this in the corporate media.

  3. Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau is finished wining and dining in Paris. He will be burning jet fuel back to Canada for a quick stop, before he continues his election tour at taxpayer expense.

  4. So the Liberals paid off the newfies for a win eh?

The more I think about it all.

The more I want to vote for Max.

I don’t want to hear about splitting the vote bull for I am going to vote for the best leader and policies and the kicker is Max and the PPC still haven’t taxed and lied to me yet!

Guns ‘Selling Like Crazy’ on Ban Concern: Firearms Outlet Canada

    TheGunBlog.ca |May 14, 2019

TheGunBlog.ca — Canadian shooters are rushing to buy AR-15 rifles and other target guns on concern the government will ban new purchases in three weeks, said Firearms Outlet Canada Inc., one of the country’s biggest independent gun stores.

Speculation of new prohibitions fired up four days ago after Tony Clement, an independent member of parliament, said without citing his sources that the Liberal Party government is preparing to order a “sweeping gun ban” in early June. The Canadian Shooting Sports Association, citing two unidentified government sources, said the prohibitions will include semi-automatic AR-15 target rifles.

I’m very low so thanks for the reminder.

When I bought ammo last week a couple visible minority dudes (east Indian?) were checking out AR’s. They were all giddy. One guy said he’d just got his RPAL the day before. Justa Turnip wouldn’t know whether to shit or eat a biscuit if he witnessed that as only white old guys like shooting guns. NZ PM Ardern probably would have fainted or just pissed her pants.

    1. Stomach-turning… Margaret’s performance was deja vu, from her early days with Pierre (married with small children, but flaunting her “freedom trip” and rubbing his nose in it.) Same bizarre behaviour.

  6. Next time the Lil Jerker Justina comes to the Calgary Stampede instead of giving him the traditional white cowboy hat, they should give him one of these Western specialty items. A Bull Cane. All he will need then is a backbone and a set of nuts. http://www.rtoproducts.com/bull-canes.php

    1. And, if I’m not mistaken, tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 10 with Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan, and John Young. The mission’s objective was to test the entire spacecraft in lunar orbit and to rehearse the landing procedures up to the point of powered descent. Landing, itself, was never considered and even if Stafford and Cernan decided to pull a fast one and try, it wouldn’t have been successful as that particular Lunar Module was never designed for it.

The mission nearly ended in failure. After the LM descent and ascent stages separated, the latter began spinning because of an onboard switch which wasn’t set properly. One story I heard was that Stafford and Cernan came within seconds of becoming the first, though decidedly unwilling, men on the moon. But it was that sort of thing that Apollo 10 had to check out.

The crew returned safely, of course, and became the fastest men ever when they re-entered the atmosphere, a record which has yet to be broken

      1. That’s well described.

Also… “and (they) became the fastest men ever when they re- entered the atmosphere …” It is mind blowing, for sure.

I’m looking forward to see how or if the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing, in July, will be celebrated with rebroadcasts etc. I have the NASA CHANNEL, so maybe there will be something there on telus optik cable. Every now and then I watch the live photos of Mother Earth. Yesterday, when I looked, the visibility was poor – – there were mostly white clouds.

        1. Yesterday, I was at a nearby postal outlet and I happened to see that a set of stamps commemorating the Avro Arrow were for sale.

I started chatting with the young lady at the counter and I happened to mention that many of the people who worked on the Arrow eventually helped NASA put men on the moon. She was completely gobsmacked by that.

It’s a pity that’s not taught in school.

Meanwhile, I’m slowly working on getting my amateur radio satellite station back on the air. It would be a great way to observe the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11.

  7. Actor Isaac Kappy posted an ominous warning apologizing to President Trump and Q Anon before “forcing himself” off a bridge

Actor Isaac Kappy died Monday morning after he “forced himself off” a bridge in Arizona. He was 42 years old.Around 7:30 a.m. Monday, ” Kappy, who admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol, apologized to President Trump and included numerous references to the far-right conspiracy group QAnon, writing, “While I supposedly wanted to make America great, I have not put much work AT ALL into making MYSELF great … To the Q movement, I am so sorry I have brought shame upon the greatest military operation of all time …

    1. RIP Grumpy Cat, fortunately, during his short life, his owners were able to make millions of dollars out of our pockets via corporate advertising budgets…

    1. So Toronto, just raise taxes on gasoline like Vancouver did. After all the city of Toronto knew all about global warming even before the oil companies did. Yet Toronto did NOTHING.

      Personally I’d love more warming.

  8. So is it OK to rip this guy’s life apart for “misremembering?” Inquiring minds want to know.

“Brennan to Gowdy in 2017 when asked about dossier: “It wasn’t part of the corpus of intelligence information that we had. It was not in any way used as a basis for the intelligence community’s assessment that was done. Uh, it was, it was not.” Under oath.”

  9. heh heh. lOOkit what I just sent to Marie Henien’s law firm:
“sincere and profound congratulations Ms Henein on the Admiral Norman case and a hearty thank you for everyone involved, on behalf of all Canadians seeking justice.
    absolute genius.
‘the grace of a ballerina and the eye of a cobra'”

must be the meddling LIEberals were ummm, reticent to appear to bully a whistleblower right in the middle of an election campaign.
    make that bully *another* whistleblower.

  10. my fav cbc moment:
lloyd robertson’s ‘wealth and hellfare’ aka ‘health and welfare’.

  11. Our little prince is fresh back from wining and dining in Paris, and is heading for a steel plant in Hamilton today. He will be announcing a deal on tariffs. No word on where he is burning jet fuel to next. And Trudeau’s loyal media were ranting at Hitler Scheer today about his MPs going to a pro life event and his hidden agenda to ban abortions. Next we will be hearing about solders marching in the streets.

  12. It’s been raining on and off for the past two days here in N.CA … sometimes quite hard. And it’s forecast to be even WORSE this weekend.
    https://www.weather.gov/sto/
The Sierra is under a WINTER STORM WATCH and WARNING. Uh, it’s May 17 … this storm is hitting 1-month AFTER WINTER ended.

Ohhhhhh mamma … “CA is now locked-into the WORST, NEVER ENDING DROUGHT IN THE HISTORY OF CA!!” … according to a fossilized Jerry Moonbeam Brown. Nevermind that RECORD amount of snow in the Sierra and the swollen reservoirs. The State will DUMP those reservoirs to “save the fish” this summer. The STATE will ensure the DROUGHT is never ending. The STATE has the power. The Eco-psychotic’s have driven the STATE into a ditch, and they’ll drive our water into a ditch.

These Warmist-zealots are sick in the head LIARS.

  13. Andrew Scheer announces Coast to Coast energy corridor.
Only problem the whole CBC article hardly mentions his plans, the whole article is mostly a Liberal slam fest of Scheer. And how his plans are no good.
Only Liberals make things work. The economy is rosy, Canadians never had it so good. Liberals good Scheer bad. Scheer will cut government spending and defund programs. Canadians want debt and spending and more government and more programs and more borrowing and more spending and more government and more Liberals. Over and over and over.https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/scheer-economic-address-energy-corridor-1.5138649

  14. The Indoctrination Center missed one. Soph(@sewernugget) One video has been removed from utoob but I believe this is the one on Alex Jones with a decent interview. Buzzfeed is leading pile on by the left. Watch before she is disappeared. This is one smart kid.

  15. The National Post has an exclusive interview with Admiral Norman at its website. Fascinating stuff.

    1. And what about the Genocides that Indians carried out on other Indian Tribes. FFffffing Wagon Burners.

  16. My Conservative MP in Ontario sent out his Spring 2019 Newsletter and on page 5 bottom right it says word for word:

    Climate Action Incentive Plan

Eligible residents of Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan can now claim tax free Climate Action Incentive payments for their family, through their 2018 personal income tax returns.
Households will receive Climate Action Incentive payments based on where they live, with rural residents receiving more than urban residents.

Climate Action Incentive payments amounts are based on family composition and province of residence. A 10 percent supplement is available to eligible individuals and families residing in small rural communities, in recognition of their increased energy needs and reduced access to clean transportation options.

The Climate Action Incentive was introduced as a way to compensate for the increase in gas, diesel and home heating fuels, as well as other goods, due to the government’s new carbon tax. In order to claim your Climate Action Incentive Payments you must first file a tax return.

    Like WTF ????

The Conservative Party is now the Liberals ????

    This is insane!

    1. Well, I wouldn’t be too hard on him/her.
This looks like an information package that explains how to get what the Gov’t is giving out, as they were not very forthcoming with the information Federally. Doesn’t necessarily mean they support it, but tax payers should know about it. Informing the public is not a bad thing.

    2. Sort of, but it should not be just those living in Liberal ridings who get that rebate. The whole thing is goofy, though. Ontario has not been paying the rebate for very long. Why would they get a rebate on 2018 tax filings?

  17. Information package?

Doesn’t necessarily mean they support it?

They Scheer didn’t say nowhere that the CPC didn’t agree with it either.

    I am a Conservative Conservative.

I don’t want more from any layer of government other than less government and so far they all fail me.

      1. Taxation of income was supposed to be temporary.

When the three levels of government are all taxing my family incomes to the tune of 50% +

Yeah I have had enough of all Governments dolling out 80% of all of our taxes to just pay for our three levels of Government yeah I’m done.

I love my God given rights but government loves to restrick them and make them illegal.

The liberals are insane so is the NDP and Greens and now my own party is now a centrist party?

So why as a conservative Conservative which means I am on the right where do my beliefs and freedoms of speech, property rights (property taxes makes me a renter not an owner for if I stop making my payments the government will take my property away so where are my property rights?) and movement without being asked where am I going or proving who I am with my government approved ID’s, dam…

        I am a slave.

        We are all slaves.

  18. A @peoplespca
government will repeal all the restrictions on free speech imposed by the Trudeau Liberals, and will counteract the Left’s witch hunt and authoritarian attempts to impose its politically correct dogmas everywhere and on everyone.
