A Northern California public school district may remove a mural of George Washington from the halls of George Washington High School due to concerns that it’s offensive and demeaning to Native Americans and African-Americans.
The controversy comes after a working group determined the mural, made up of several panels, “traumatizes students and community members.” But advocates for keeping the 83-year-old mural say that removing it ignores the intent of the artist and represents an attempt to erase history.
Not only do the western youth of today hate the elderly (or anyone who is 15 years older) they hate the history that has provided their world of wealth, health, science, technology and security.
“The weak shall inherit the earth.” Has a certain depressing ring to it.
If they aren’t intelligent enough to embrace the history of the country then the only thing they are fit for are work camps where they should be required to work to feed themselves.
The mural’s painter was a communist. The intent was to convey a negative message about america.
What the hell was the school doing, particularly in those days, buying a painting from a communist?
I say burn the damn thing. This has nothing to do with preserving the legacy of washington, as the artist was trying to trash his legacy.
It should never have been in the school.
What a sad state of affair it is, when the defense of keeping such a mural mounted IS the fact that it degrades america.

This mural, like Confederate statues, should be left alone and used as a teaching opportunity.
He was a communist. His work helped lay the foundation of today’s left in the west. The left that today calls for destruction of confederate statues.
Is it irony or justice that the mob he helped forment would eventually come to turn on his own work? The fires are already going, we should be sure to put the real sh&t on the pile.

I dislike communism and oppose it as much as anyone. If your house was on fire and a commie came and carried you out thus saving your life would you upon learning he was a communist berate him and threaten to burn his house?

There may be reasons to remove it but one of them can’t be because of the political persuasion of the painter.

Well, well. Turns out the mural was painted by a Russian communist with the express intent of distorting Washington’s legacy.
Very well then, I say. Paint it over. Replace it with a proper memorial to Washington by someone who actually appreciates Washington’s greatness and knows how to paint and draw.

I don’t think he was such a good painter that his work is worth preserving for it’s own sake, but considering who wants this mural removed there is something to be said for thwarting them.

In some aspects, this trend is worse than Orwell imagined. We’re not talking about people rewriting history here; Orwellian villains at least knew the importance of history and thus the need to manipulate it.
We’re talking about people who have simply no idea of history whatsoever. A clueless generation with nothing behind it to inform its view of the world.
