  1. If they are being particular careful about “wait for the investigation”, it was someone named muhamed.

Because you know, if there had been an orange vest with 20 miles, …

  2. Priests stabbed, throats slashed, dozens of churches vandalized with fires set all across France…
But the cause is a mystery…
Is there anything global warming can’t do?

(Macron is going to blame the workers doing renovations. Conveniently)

    1. They were doing renovations and working on the roof. Hint, scaffolding all over the freaking place.

  3. From the crocodile-tear-stained Grauniad editorial:

“It is much too early to say what might have caused the conflagration on the Île de la Cité. It would be imprudent to speculate before the facts are known.”

That didn’t stop them from accusing President Trump of being a Russian puppet on the basis of a pack of lies, distortions and wild “speculations.”

  4. It was a sad spectacle. Much of eight hundred years of history burned. The first reason trotted out was a possibility of the reconstruction being somehow at fault. Left out of the equation so far has been mention of the dozen or so churches in the Paris region that have been torched in the last month or so.

    1. If it was anything else but a freak accident then we’ll never know the truth behind this fire. The investigation will be censored every step of the way and the authorities will keep an extremely close eye on who has access to the results. The official results of the investigation are being crafted as we speak. Maybe they will correlate with facts maybe they will not. They will be published at an opportune moment.

Also, I have no doubt that the Fwench elites are quietly celebrating and so do their mooselimb allies.

      1. // I have no doubt that the Fwench elites are quietly celebrating and so do their mooselimb allies. //

        You are barking mad.

        1. Yes … TRUTH … often sounds like a yapping dog you simply cannot ignore. So you complain about it.

        2. About which part dare I ask?
Mooselimb? Ugh scroll down to the post by WTF cupcake.
As for the Fwench elites? Bitch please, they perceived Hitler a lesser threat than their own fiercely catholic army command, what’s one cathedral compared to that?

  5. Gee what a coincidence during Easter week.

A massive, out of control blaze of a Religious landmark.

Must have been a random construction fire…

    1. Set by a random construction worker now on a random train to Geneva to collect his prize from a random bank account at Crédit Suisse. He will never be seen again in France.

No, not all the facts are known. The people responsible have made sure they never will be.

  6. I was listening to the radio just now and April in Paris was playing. Louis and Ella. A love song about Paris like so many are.

A very sad day for civilization. These things cannot be replaced.

      1. Thanks Nancy.

Ella and Louis sang it perfectly. I’ve been thinking about Paris and the many great songs the city inspired. A kitchen dancing tune for sure.

  7. Never fear, the replacement , a shiny new Mosque will arise from the ashes..
Somewhere a Son of the Desert Pedophile is being rewarded ..gee I wonder what the bounty is for a historic monument of Christianity?
I mean the lesser Sons got 10.5 million ..
I fear sarcasm no longer cuts it.

    1. The French will repair it. The walls are still standing and the façade is intact.

  8. The Cathedral has a 24/7 security system with patrolling guards. Any reconstruction work would have been done with the highest possible security and with the highest health and safety regulation. Among those regulations is the requirement of fire-watch standby crews, standard practice in most construction projects of this significance. Somebody has a lot of “Splainin to do!”

  9. and Macron has already invited the “world” to help France rebuilt. Yah, like they stepped up for the twin towers.
    You want fries?

  10. So we’re told to not to make assumptions, but then it is demanded that we IMMEDIATELY rule out one possibility before there is even an investigation.

    Whatever LOL

  11. Not all that was lost was medieval. The famous spire was an addition by Viollet-le-Duc in the nineteenth century which replaced the previous spire that had been removed in the eighteenth century. Fire has been the enemy of cathedrals throughout history. Much of the original medieval glass was removed centuries ago. Now if Chartres Cathedral had suffered a similar fire, that would be a far greater tragedy as it contains a significant percentage of western Europe’s surviving medieval glass.

    1. I was in Chartres a few years ago. Much better condition than most others in France. Mostly due to much lower levels of industrial pollution.

I worked in a newspaper many years ago. I was writing a story on some of the better churches and Cathedrals in Saskatchewan. I interviewed an elderly lady who informed me that: ”Christ lives in your heart, not inside a fancy building.” I thought of that today!

  12. Ok, there was work going on at the roof level. Scaffolding access. So to wreck a mostly stone building where to start a fire?
Some English guy called Henry burnt churches and killed priests who didn’t do what he wanted.
    A shame no less.

  13. just a few facts to put things in perspective

In Paris 2 out of 3 people are muslim, yes there are more muslim than there are Parisians in Paris

in France 1 out of 8 is muslim

Exact numbers are hard to find because in France it is illegal to make stats based on race

there are at least 2500 mosques in France

they put a wall all around the Eiffel tower a couple years ago to protect it from terror attacks by we know who

last month someone set fire to the wooden doors of St Sulpice church in France, the fire was put out before it caused more damage

thanks to DNA they found the arsonist ( they first said it was an accidental fire ) the man is a muslim

in France, in the last two years, churches have suffered close to 2000 attacks, acts of vandalism including thrown feces, destroyed art, fires

the media only say it is “vandals”…religion-less race-less that are motive-less vandals as well

muslims murdered 130 innocent people at the Bataclan in Paris in 2015

young muslims that the media only calls ” youths” set fire to hundreds or thousands of cars every year in France, they do that at night, have been doing it for well over 10 years ( the media pretends it is not happening )

Clearly if the Notre Dame Cathedral fire was criminal it was the Russians who did it.

  14. Just for plausible deniability’s sake, I am informed that the night watchmen at the abomination on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem set a fire there too—and made a big show of putting out.

A fire at al-Aqsa mosque! See? Nothing to do with Islam!

    1. it would be wiser to spend the 113 million on kicking the muslims out of France

in 20 years or 40, tops, France will be under muslim rule

the fastest growing demographic in France is muslims

  15. I can’t wait for the “investigation” to determine … “a pail of oily rags spontaneously combusted” … causing the “forest of timbers” to explode in flames. You know, just like your typical garage fire. Puhleeze. A fire of this magnitude does not start from a small source. The Cathedral construction is all Heavy Timber – massive beams and columns of wood … these building elements don’t catch fire easily without significant accelerant. This fire exploded. Heavy Timber construction is actually a Fire-rated Type of Construction in the building codes. And the fire started at the end of the work day, when the dozens of construction workers who could have responded to a fire had gone home for the day.

Of course I cannot say with certainty … but this Christian, Architectural, and Cultural Icon of a Cathedral was set ablaze … and I doubt it was for an insurance scam. No, this has all the earmarks of dirty, fkcuing, Muzzie scum terrorism and satanic symbolism.

    1. Some artifacts have already been recovered. If the fire was deliberate, whoever set it may have severely damaged the building, but not the reason for its construction.

        1. I’m reminded of the opening lines of the hymn Built on the Rock the Church doth Stand:

Built on the Rock the Church doth stand,
          Even when steeples are falling;
Crumbled have spires in every land

    2. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pillars_of_the_Earth

The Ken Follett novel from 1989 on the topic of cathedral building has some historical merit. I rarely read novels but this one was an exception and was exceptional for the information it imparted on the topic.

It is regretful that this landmark cathedral is ruined and it is a shame that there wasn’t a security company guarding this historical place until renovations were completed. Perhaps in future this should be a consideration.

Tonights’ News broadcast showed that some of the more important relics had been removed from the Cathedral prior to the commencement of the work at the site. A good thing.

    3. Indeed doubt there was much insurance, if any at all. Who would underwrite it, or who could afford the premiums.
Totally agree with Kenji’s skeptical prediction about if the truth will out.
I cannot understand our elites’ desire to destroy our society, it does seem intentional beyond belief. Frankfurt school meets Soros billions, and every other tech maroon zillionaire group think leftie.
In this latest western culture erasure case; why did it take it seemed like forever, before one little mealy stream of water was brought to bear on this inferno? Even try the ubiquitous water cannons. They even have water on board.
The delay cannot just be incompetence, such imbecility reeks of intent.

      1. It ABSOLUTELY is intentional, and I understand it perfectly. It’s called compensating for subconscious guilt over their jaw-dropping wealth. So they “make a better world” by using their money (i.e. power and influence) to advance the Marxist cause. They ram an ever-shifting agenda of “equality” (i.e. lowering our standard of living to benefit the “disadvantaged”) down our throats because they despise us for being neither one of them nor “disadvantaged” – the Marxist contempt for the bourgeoisie being a well-established fact. Ideally they’d put us all in collective farms/reeducation camps.

There are so many ways they do this, it’s like the proverbial hydra that you just can’t kill: unfettered immigration, a revolving-door criminal law system, batcrap-loony environmentalism (which includes climate change and the many ways it’s used to gut the economy), an education system that hammers kids with the idea that our culture is evil in the hope they turn into SJWs and end up being a drain on the welfare system, hysterical focus on nonexistent genders that are in reality at most a few thousand self-involved attention whores, and on and on. Meanwhile their useful idiots and sock puppets, morons like our Dizzy, do the dirty work for them free-fer-nuthin’.

The MSM work 24/7/365 as their stenographers, because they’ve long since perfected the art of fostering addiction to outrage, knowing that retail therapy is the result, and that’s why Wolf Blitzer makes 5 million USD a year while he stage-manages broadcasts where “the rich” are vilified. I wonder: does he actually believe the lunacy pouring out of his pundits’ mouths? Complete cognitive disconnect, or just monumental hypocrisy? Only he and his ilk know for sure.

Oh yeah, it’s intentional. And neither they nor their offspring will have to deal with the consequences, because there’ll always be a Switzerland, an Emirates, a Caymans or Belize to flee to. It’s not “the rich” that are the problem; it’s “the leftist rich.” Wake up America.

    4. In one of the news casts, they said a lot of the wood in the church was very old and would burn easily. Anyway, I am still suspicious that this was not an ‘accident’.

  16. http://www.tcm.com/mediaroom/video/215814/Hunchback-of-Notre-Dame-The-Movie-Clip-Water-.html

And where were the incessant cries of: “Water, water…”?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll_-pnXC8NU
HB: I am not a man, I am not a beast, I am about as shapeless as the man in the moon….

Esmerelda: Why did you save me?

HB: Oh I tried to carry you off. And then next day you gave me a drink of water and a little pity.
You must never leave the Church or they’ll hang you and kill me. Yes…

  17. It was on this very day about 1980 years ago that Jesus whipped the money changers on the temple and kicked over their tables. Notre Dame takes in 12 million visitors per year times say $30 per person entry fee or $360 million per year. An Act of God.

    1. So you are saying buildings should not inspire; but be “de-spired”?
      Perhaps a rather unenlightened position…

      Cheers

      1. What I am saying is that Jesus would not be impressed with the conduct of Catholic Church leadership over the last 1000 years and to the very present day. If Jesus can raise hell on the temple, he can certainly do the same with Notre Dame. Yes, it is a tragedy and a crime likely committed by Jihadis. But it is still the work of God. So to look what we can learn from this.

        1. Well, *everything* is the work of God, right? Including the death of little children in fires, traffic accidents, and from disease. If God can direct Muslims to burn a cathedral, he must also have directed them to fly passenger jets into the WTC.

So I don’t like your God very much. He, and you, can both take a long hike off a short pier.

          1. Jesus would be appalled at the conduct of the Church over the last thousand years. Just as he led a rebellion against Rome and the Jewish orthodoxy, he would challenge Christian orthodoxy today. He would challenge the popes for their child abuse crimes and for how they rob poor people of their savings in the name of “giving to the Church” to build these monuments in His name. Look I am not condoning this destruction, I am merely pointing out how the Church has lost its way and that it is now at cross purposes to what Jesus preached. They have co-opted Jesus word and used it to enrich themselves and enslave people. Unforgiveable.

          2. So if someone writes a book, or creates a song that praises God … their work should be considered UNGodly because it comes from “man” and not God? These great Cathedrals were born of both PURE and not-so-pure motives. Nevertheless, they have provided a physical place to worship God. A visual reminder of the power and glory of God. A God who could inspire the Architects, Engineers, and Builders to reach higher and higher with their earthly materials … just as we do with our own bodies and souls.

However, the metaphor of DESTROYING the greatest iconic elements of Western civilization is the main point. Anyone who participates in the destruction of what was erected to worship God, might as well have spread the petrol necessary to set this church ablaze.

        2. “Unforgivable,” you say. By whom? God – or you? And you call yourself a Christian? Here’s what I think: your proclaimed Christianity is just a smokescreen for a hatred of Catholicism. You said this was “God’s work,” so please don’t weasel out by redirecting. You like to lay claim to understanding what Jesus Christ would think. Here’s what I KNOW he would think:

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35

Jesus Christ understood that any institution run by humans is subject to error, which we then strive to correct. That’s what it is to be human. But enough of this, you’re a bigot clinging to a primitive WASP prejudice of the sort purveyed in Klan broadsides a hundred years ago, and that’s all there is to it, so we’ll part ways here. I’m sure you’re a more or less decent person generally.

        3. “The Roman Catholic Church is the largest non-government provider of health care services in the world. It has around 18,000 clinics, 16,000 homes for the elderly and those with special needs, and 5,500 hospitals, with 65 percent of them located in developing countries.”
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_health_care

Anyway yeah…always seem to be a few of you in every group of conservatives. Like anti-Semites, just goes with the territory. Still much better than having an overwhelming majority of Marxist moonbats on the other side.

    1. Worse yet, white–wait for it–incels! After all, Chrystia Freeland says they’re a major threat.
