          At the beginning of the renegotiating of NAFTA, Donald Trump offered to discuss eliminating all barriers of trade, but both Trudeau and Sche(m)er rejected that out of hand despite the huge opportunity for growth that would present for Canada in developing new export opportunities. It was much more important to mimic Liberal party policy, which, of course is simply large scale influence peddling.

          And what is the likely affect of the regional development agencies he proposes? Larger or smaller handouts?

          If he somehow stumbled into power he will simply continue Liberal policies, because they are his, as well.

          I guess corruption in the conservative party is kind of like the wallpaper, it’s there all the time and so no one even notices it anymore.

He even said in a recent speech that he wants to make Canada energy independent. Scheer has also stated that he will repeal bill C71, which as a gun owner, I appreciate.

          While he originally voted in favor of the Paris Climate Accord, he has since revised his position and no longer supports it. Scheer has pledged to crack down on illegal border crossers by closing the Safe Third Country Agreement with the United States.

          Scheer may not be perfect, but he’s a helluva lot better than another four years of Trudeau and his corrupt cabal running Canada into the ground.

    Scheer is doing absolutely the right thing: when your opponent is digging himself deeper in a hole, don’t do anything to stop him. I think the eventual outcome will be either Justin resigns, is forced out by his caucus, or he tries to brazen it out in an election.   29. A lot of good comments here today, but I think there needs to be a close focus on what the Liberals are now going to try and sell as their main plank in the upcoming election. Like many here I noticed the pivot of the Liberals last night to the “Green New Deal”. Amazing how many Canadians are in favour of this ‘Save the Planet’ program by sacrificing their future and their children’s future by advocating and accepting the Carbon Tax of the Liberals, NDPs Greens, and the Scheer Conservatives. This ‘neutral tax’ that the adherents believe in and is going to change our life style for the betterment of mankind, sorry peoplekind, will in actuality erode and demolish the life style that four generations of Canadians have striven to build in this country. The rebates that are promised will not return the money to your wallet that will be removed by the increase in the cost of living that this tax will impose surreptitiously . Baby Boomers will especially be impacted by this tax. The generation that has paid the most in taxes to implement our society is about to be hit with a tax that they have no way of escaping. Every company that we do business with, every government department that exists in this country, municipal, provincial, federal, every school building, every gas station, grocery store, department store, every mall will have to increase their costs to cover the increase in heating caused by the carbon tax. This is where the government will suck the dollars out of our pockets. These costs are not going to come out of company profits they are going to come out of increased costs which will be passed on to the consumer. The local fire hall, police station, school, townhall will be taxed for the energy that is consumed and this will increase taxes. Every heating bill will increase taxes. All of these hidden taxes will be borne by the taxpayer. The baby-boomer pensioned tax payer is the only taxpayer that has no recourse to this increase in cost of living caused by the carbon tax. These taxpayers cannot go on strike to avail themselves of a COLA clause in their pension plans in the future. They are destined to see their standard of living being slowly and steadily eroded. This erosion will continue to affect their children because the great transfer of wealth that their children have been assured they will inherit upon the boomers demise will fail to materialize. The only winners in this scenario are the politicians that are driving this scam. If you think this won’t happen, think again, there is only one taxpayer and you see them every morning when you look in the bathroom mirror.

I continue to be amazed at the lack of pushback against the plan to add taxes to the most affordable and benign fuel for heating homes and businesses in one of the coldest countries in the world. The main effect of this tax will be to erode the standard of living of people of modest means, now and in the future. Adding taxes to natural gas as a heating fuel may actually be counterproductive (in the sense of actually encouraging more carbon dioxide emissions) anywhere where electricity is generated using natural gas or may be used to displace natural gas generation in export markets. For decades provincial governments have exempted natural gas for heating from application of PST on the grounds that it is a necessity. Now we are allowing the federal government and some provincial governments to tax it on the specious grounds of saving us from climate change? Madness.

  30. My feeling is that Trudeau will survive the SNC-Lavalin scandal , but in a severely damaged condition. If you notice the MSM is reporting on the SNC scandal events .. barely. The media is in Trudeau protection mode. There is no one in the MSM .. NONE .. calling for Trudeau to resign. Compare that with the 2 year 24/7 Duffy media screaming.

    Wilson-Raybould’s actions were likely brought on by her intimate knowledge of the pending Mark Norman scandal . She saw what happened to Mark Norman , being set up as the fall guy for the DND procurement mess and took steps to prevent herself from being hung out to dry by the Liberals. Either she and her deputy minister have photographic memories or they took detailed notes and perhaps even recordings

    There are two things that could bring down Trudeau :
    1) An RCMP investigation. Given that the RCMP investigated Duffy when there was no crime or even a hint of a crime , it is difficult to see how the RCMP can pass on an investigation of PMO SNC interference, unless they too have been corrupted by the current Liberal government.

    2) The Mark Norman trial. He has a VERY sharp lawyer who will no doubt subpoena members of the PMO , and that will further expose the SNC scandal as well as the involvement of the PMO in the DND mess.

    1. The Mark Norman trial has much more legal danger for “Trudeau’s” government than this but is much more controllable. The Liberals can always say “cannot discuss anything sub-judice”, the classic cover.

      However, I really think that this is a pusch by Liberal behind-the-scenes people (Desmarais familly, etc.) to oust Trudeau. I find it strange that the first “leak” of this story was via the Globe and Mail, a Liberal artefact, if not pillar.

      1. Why would they want to oust Trudeau? Isn’t he still pulling in votes for them? I think he is a disaster, but why would they think so? He has been loyal to their globalist agenda.

  31. I’m a Canadian Tire (CT) card holder (in good standing). This morning I called their head office and spoke to a corporate secretary who from her response has fielded complaints about their participation in a librano political event.

    She insisted CT was only displaying their ‘green products’ light bulbs and the such. I suggested they have these items on their shelves every day and that they didn’t need to co-ordinate sales with a liberal campaign event. She tried her best to squirm out of it but I wasn’t having any of it. I identified myself and supplied my credit card so they knew who I was.

    These corporations need to be reminded that there are consequences when they align themselves with politics. I’m thinking they wont be trying another stunt with bongo – at least not in the west.

  32. I may be going out on a limb here but with the Butts testimony coming tomorrow I thought I’d throw it out. Butts has been in touch with the real power in the backroom of the Liberal party and the decision has come down if Trudeau doesn’t remove himself then the Laurentian elite will pull the plug on “Sunny Ways”. Butts is going to pull an “Et Tu, Brute” he is going to say I tried to dissuade the PM from his pressuring the AG but he forced me into taking part in this scandal and in good conscious I had to resign. Butts comes out of this with an intact CV to continue his work with the backroom boys and it throws Trudeau under the bus because for the backroom boys he’s disposable since he has served his purpose. At this point it is “Everyone for themselves, and the Devil take the hindmost!”

      I ‘ve been waiting for the Press to indicate that an obstruction of Justice conviction has a 10 year jail term, to no avail. It took this American to tell us. Hope Trudeau and others go to jail. They earned it. A mea culpa won’t do, for such a crime. And, ignorance of the law is no excuse. They are the government. They are acting like the student council at some high school. Silly idiots.

      As for the Menzoid video… some of those people look like poor folks, we cannot mock them. They don’t know better because they are grateful to have something to eat. The big bad one was ‘square head Minister of Finance’ who looked like a fish out of water. Morneau would rather stay in his warm office than being on the Danforth, that was plain to see. He looked cold and nervous. He doesn’t need this job. He just wanted to get into Trudeau’s government to protect his family business. He won’t rerun, in my opinion.

      The great unwashed hoi pol-loi is just not his bag. The château in France is waiting for His Holy Squarehead’s return! Unless…. he goes to jail where he belongs, the greedy freaking galoot!
