    1. Wonder what cold temperature the steel is rated for? Where I used to work we had to check all our steel orders, especially from China. Some was only rated for minus 20C!

Damned coal fired power plants that cause global warming!!

  2. Thank God this stuff is government subsidized. Industry couldn’t support it on its own.

    1. “Thank God this stuff is government subsidized.”
Right. Government subsidized with middle class taxpayers’ hard earned $.

Why do I have a recurring dream of a mob with torches and pitchforks dragging politicians to a guillotine?

  3. I’ll bet when they claim how “inexpensive” wind electricity is, they’ll leave out the cost of replacing this.

In the early fall of 2017, I drove past the windfarm near Trochu, Alberta shortly after an early season blizzard. Half of them were not operating, one, two or three of their blades ripped off. Six months late I drove past again. They hadn’t been repaired. Good thing there’s still coal and gas fired electricity for the residents there.

I wonder if they’ve been repaired since.

  4. Take a look at how much work and energy is needed just to build one and put it in place.

(“How It’s Made” has a show on building wind turbines, but, interestingly, the sound track is missing.)

I wonder if all the energy expended in building wind turbines is, at the very least, ever made up by the turbines.

By the way, the rotor blades themselves turn into the wind using hydraulic cylinders that contain – wait for it – hydraulic oil.

    1. also, ‘Engineering Blunders’ has an episode about the n sea wind farm. colossal blunder that was.
too bad they found out about before they all keeled over.

    1. Not an error on the date. It was a year ago. Just drove by there last week. Only the cement pedestal remains yet.

  5. if you want to see one of the true impact of wind turbine energy production meets corruption look up Water Wells First and North Kent Wind Farm. You will be astounded at what is thecost to the environment and people.
