When I was a kid, I was a tomboy and told everyone who would listen that I wished I was a boy – because boys did fun things like play baseball and hunt for frogs, and girls did boring things like play with dolls and take ballet classes. My parents wisely decided to bide their time, and when I became a teen, I decided that I was quite happy being a girl (as an adult, I like both baseball and ballet and consider myself a well-adjusted woman). If my parents had taken me to a doctor for gender reassignment therapy, it would have turned me into a psychological mess and ruined my life.

          BTW I raised my only daughter to play sports (kept her trim, and healthy), and specifically, competitive sports … because the world is a competitive place and competition brings out the BEST in us. It worked. She’s all woman, but won’t take shit from anyone male, female, or whatever.

How long before day care, or elementary public school workers decide/inform authorities that your not allowing your son to wear pink clothes or that your son is always seen with trucks, and never seen with “a little dolly”? Accuse you of not exposing him, or allowing him to experience “all that life has to offer!” That you are grooming your son to be heterosexual, and your not allowing him to “discover his feminine side!” Your damaging him, because your not allowing him to decide for himself what clothes to wear or toys to play with or friends to have.
    Perhaps your child needs to be under the guidance of someone who would be sure to give him a more “rounded up bringing”, with a greater variety of life experiences to “allow him to make his own mind up”.
    Perhaps living with a homosexual or trans couple for(only) a year, “just for the life experience”.

    1. Agree totally. They MUST wear bike helmets….because they cannot make that choice for themselves. And they MUST be prohibited from pot, or driving, or booze…..because they cannot make that choice for themselves. And they MUST only be allowed in sterilized, made-safe-but-no-fun-anymore playgrounds – as they cannot be allowed to play in areas that we deem unsafe…. and the list goes on.
      We bubble wrap them in all other areas of life (one of the last schools I taught in prohibited the game of Tag at recess, because a tag while running might degenerate into a bit of a push….egad! The Horror!) but in this one area we refuse to protect them from the inconsistencies of Youth.
      Maybe because we are totally unwilling to rein in any of our own sexual proclivities, we are projecting that pretense of “freedom” on these poor young souls?

    Sometimes people that are 33 years old practice self abuse.

    Sometimes those well versed in the social sciences are abusive to kids of 10.5 years.

    So happy my kids (and myself and ex wife) are 100% completely normal. Normal.
