Two sure things, rolled into one: – Note to grabbers, unlike your false claims about semi-automatic weapons such as AR-15s, what the IRS has are automatic weapons, that’s fifteen machine guns with 56,000 rounds. Who do you think they will be using them on?

Life distances and time… at 56 years…
I got to thinking, as I do sometimes, about how many miles I have traveled and now much
time I spent traveling. In the past, on some of my year end birthday posts I’ve posted how many miles this body has gone in reference to space and the amount of time I have spent here.
Engineer’s minds think like to contemplate this shit sometimes when we are bored.
So, with the help of google and the magic of math here we go:
56 years time:
672 months
2922 weeks
20,455 days
490,920 hours
29,455,200 minutes
1,767,312,000 seconds
56 years distance:
Being in the northeast, I picked an average for 45 degree latitude and figured the circumference of the earth at that point. I have been revolving around the earth’s axis once a day for 20,455 days. The rotation speed of the earth here approx 800mph and in 24 hour time the distance traveled is 17,677 miles. So, I have traveled 361,583,035 miles.
Now the fun starts.
The earth travels around the sun a distance of 584,000,000 miles per year
at a speed of 67,000 mph. Therefore, I have traveled 56 x 584million miles for a grand total of
32,704,000,000 miles around the sun. Wish I had a penny for each mile.
and finally:
Our solar system is traveling through space around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.
We are speeding along at 514,000 mph.
So I have been here for 490,920 hours traveling at a speed of 514,000 mph for a total distance of 252,322,880,000 miles (yes, trillion)
slightly over 10 times the national debt!!
One last thing I looked up. Even going at 514,000 MPH it would take 230,000,000 years for our
solar system to go once around the center of our galaxy. Math is done.
Happy New Years one and all
I’d think that a real engineer would realize that going around in circles gets you nowhere ?
Most projects have a lot of government regulation and red tape, so going around in circles is necessary to accomplish anything.
A lot of engineering is directed to create automated actions that include things going around in circles and that are very productive.
Indeed… even the simple wheel is something that just goes in circles… but without it, we would be lost.
A natural outcome of The Universe Song, from Monte Python’s The Meaning of Life.
Welcome to The Circle of Life.
Having graduated from a fully anal engineering school, this artsman feels compelled to as a question I think will disturb you.
Why is that happening? Please quantify. Lol. Happy New Year to all and best wishes for a lean and mean 2019.
Where has this vast universe come from? and why? Why does matter exist at all? My head hurts, so I am going on walk … a slow walk … one that neatly fits into my frame of reference.
Just remember that the answer to the great question about life, the universe, and everything is 42.
Don’t panic, and don’t forget the towel.
And …
every sperm is sacred,
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate
“I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadrilateral,
About binomial theorem I’m teeming with a lot o’ news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse……”
Sorry I couldn’t resist
This is somewhat of a brain cramp on my part.
Often wondering when thinking about the accumulated speeds.
Would the total sum of the circling speeds around ever greater circles, beyond the galaxy and beyond the local group and so on and so on, would that equal the speed of light?
Who knows?
I have driven over six million miles, that is too much time behind a wheel and I never left the planet. I have no idea how many miles I have flown.
The “State” will always look after__ It’s Own __. This is why the most important function of the Elected Officials in an Honest Election process is to hold the __ facilitators of the regulation processors accountable to the existing Laws.
Generating additional Laws is the grist for Bureacracies to provide special perks for Elected Representatives so the system establishes control. The addition of potential confusion through needless regulations, ostensibly created by an Elected Official is the sinecure security for the next generation of bureaucrats and lawyers.
Control of the Tax-payer Funding Faucet is the only tool of the electorate. The Tools for this control are Elected Representatives. The Bureaucracy prefers Fools as is increasingly evident.
Their aim is probably as bad as their accounting.
My favorite is that the Dept. of Education has its own SWAT team. Said team was rolled out a couple years ago to go after a person who had defaulted on their student loans.
They turned up at the wrong house and raided it with their dynamic entry team. Over a student loan.
I’m not kidding, that’s what happened. Nobody went to jail over it that I’m aware of, or even got fired. On the bright side, nobody died.
All I can guarantee is that not one bullet will be used on a living soul who has actually been cheating the American people out of their fair share of the tax burden. No Silicon Valley oligarch or Chinese gangster has anything to fear from the IRS’s armed thugs.
“No Silicon Valley oligarch or Chinese gangster has anything to fear from the IRS’s armed thugs.”
Not totally true – what if they join the Republicans?
Kennedy wuz a demoKKKrap
In many ways, Kennedy was a Democrat like Trump is a Republican.
Why can’t the state be satisfied with their unlimited power of taxation rather than resorting to weapons arsenals? Hmm?

Off topic, but needed to be mentioned, Ray sawyer, lead singer and Capt. of Doctor Hook has died at age 81.
Thanks for the music,Ray. “Gonna see my picture on the cover, gonna send five copies to my Mother”……..

Won’t be off topic, I hope, here in “death and taxes” thread. If I may:
Don,
This is sad news about Ray Sawyer’s passing on the last day of 2018. The name might not be familiar at first to most people, nor the name of his group, Doctor Hook, but we all grew up with their many songs though. Many were hits. The link above is ” Cover of Rolling Stone.” ………………..( song from which you quoted @ 3:42 pm)
If I may add, there is a “Doctor Hook Greatest Hits” album and some of the titles that has made this group famous include hits like:
“A Little Bit More”, “Sexy Eyes”, “When You’re in Love With a Beautiful Woman”, ” Sharing the Night Together”, “Sylvia’s Mother” etc.
Thanks for the information.

Don
Were you in that work trailer at Yoyo where we played the “Best of Dr. Hook” tape on continuous loop for three weeks?
This is the legacy of Obama’s attempt at literally weaponizing his beloved state. Trump should disarm those agencies not directly involved in policing. He could hand them over to Betsy DeVos to be used to establish firearms safety and use curricula in US schools to de-stigmatize the dangerous “gun-free” culture responsible for the unnecessarily high body counts in school mass shootings.
All government is coercion. Governing cannot be done sans the threat of deadly force hanging over the head of the non-compliant. Absent a unifying belief in lawfulness for it’s own sake on the part of citizens, anarchy and non-compliance will become the norm.
Barry Soetoro knew this. He and his cohort were breaking the law and actively encouraging anarchy. Still are. They urged their stooges to attack law enforcement. The IRS is law enforcement. Anarchists are opposed to paying taxes.
The inevitability of the anarchists coming to the same conclusion about the IRS as they concluded about Wall Street approaches a certainty of one.
Correct. It’s not capitalism vrs socialism (creepy Marx terms anyway), or social justice vrs anarchy, or individualism vrs collectivism, it’s about the voluntary sector (free enterprise) vrs the coercive sector (the state).
If you want further evidence, ask yourself what would happen if income taxes were voluntary?
If I was an impoverished “Prepper” I would be trying to get a job at the IRS.
Free guns, ammo and after you “lose” them in the system, the IRS will destroy the paper trail to avoid being embarrassed.
Of course the Audit says these agencies “state that they possess” these weapons.I wonder what an order to produce them for inspection would reveal?
And are they “properly stored”????
