  8. So lets look at Ms Clarkson’s website and the Institute that the taxpayer has so generously set up and mostly funded (and continues to fund, in addition to the expenses highlighted in the NP article) to the tune of millions.

    What she is “universally acknowledged” for might well be juxtapositioned with “indelible mark” in light of this latest revelation.

    Well, high marks for conciseness anyway, and take note that even this remarkable brevity fails to disguise that half of all the “donations” are matching taxpayer dollars. And when you do discover the list of those who “donate” one has to wonder why various federal government organs like Parks Canada would support this cause, and how they have authority to “donate” at all. Do we understand correctly that a “donation” from a federal government department is matched by another cheque from the same government; all from the pockets of taxpayers who were never asked? A troll through the rest of the sight suggests that much of the spending shown as going to “programs” covers the salaries of a host of earnest folks promoting a decidedly political agenda; and a bunch more goes to swanky events that allow the principals and their like-minded friends to entertain each other in a style that we would all like to aspire too. It would be nice to know, as most charities are required to disclose, what the executive like its president get paid, and to know what expenses or perks the principals enjoy as they wallow in this self-serving exercise.

    Note that Ms Clarkson is hardly alone in this. The Broadbent Institute and the Trudeau Foundation, to take two examples, are exponentially more egregious examples of muddy purposes posing as charitable entities while really serving as political actions committees mostly funded by the taxpayer.

    I can’t find any articles to confirm the narrative that Clarkson came to Canada as a “penniless child refugee”. Many who came here from Hong Kong were not penniless, but had money and family in Canada to assist them. Clarkson’s parents undoubtedly worked hard to make their way in Canada, but her talent seems to have been schmoozing with the right people.

    Hell,that was too easy.Clarkson’s Dad worked in Hong Kong for the Canadian government and they were repatriated to Canada in 1942, which is what made me suspicious in the first place,as millions did NOT make it out of HK in 1942,the Japanese conquerors were less than enthusiastic about people fleeing.

    Clarkson and family didn’t arrive here as “penniless refugees” but as employees of the government of Canada. She was part of the “in crowd” from the day she set foot in Canada. The narrative is bullshit,as it so often is.

    1. She has 4 gimmes starting with the 1967 Centennial medal. All the socialist propagandists at CBC must all get one of these every 10-15 years. As GG she automatically gets the CD, normally given for 12 years service.

      1. No, no, no those medals are for important things:
        -Defending an expenses bunker from a squad of forensic accountants armed with calculators and a bad attitude.
        -Surviving a massive Ottawa Chardonnay fight with endurance, strength and valour sufficient to defeat a visiting Russian diplomat armed with a might thirst and years of vodka training.
        -Being undefeated in unarmed combat with pointed elbows used with great skill at the buffets and bars of all diplomatic events during her tour of duty.

  12. Perhaps some day when she has some spare time on her hands she could give us a quick sketch of how her family managed to get out of Japanese Army occupied Hong Kong under diplomatic cover. A lot of us would probably find a cliffhanger like that very interesting.

Clarkson was a CBC liberal hack and totally unqualified for the job when she was anointed.

      As for the former resident of Rideau Hall, she was a CBC hack as far back as the mid-1960s when she became one of the hosts of the network’s daytime afternoon show Take 30, well before she joined The Fifth Estate.

    1. Defunding the CBC didn’t occur under Harper,and it won’t under Scheer if he should luck out and win. The CBC is an even more sacred cow than supply side management.

  25. About Adrienne Clarkson…nice work if you can get it. She was okay when she did “Take 30″… Overheard it as a youngster and thought, 1- she is Asian with no accent and an English name who is bi or tri- lingual. 2- The interviews were ordinary, with a snobbish twist.

    There was once an old guy in Montreal in the 1970s who fed the pidgeons in the downtown square, opposite the Hudson’s Bay Store. He had more medals than Ms Clarkson. Sweet!
