  1. This is a disgrace. A couple of tweets is a federal crime? And they do this so that Mueller can keep his circus going for a while longer?

  2. I was thinking about voting for Madame Secretary, Hillary Clinton, but I think, maybe, can’t remember, I read a Russian tweet. Maybe.
    So I voted for Trump.

    1. The Russians have been interfering in US elections since the 1950s.
      Americans have been interfering in other countries elections for a long time also.
      So what?

      2. The US has interfered in elections, sponsored coups d’etat, killed foreign heads of state, and went to war on contrived reasons, killing millions of people. So the US charges someone with practicing democracy? The US doesn’t have the moral high ground.

  4. The mistake they have made that reveals how tenuous these charges are, is that the press release states the activities where “unlawful” without citing one law that was broken.
    I’m not a lawyer or judge but unless a statute was violated the only court this case should be headed for are the ones that handle divorce and civil law suits.
    For those its usually private detective agencies that gather evidence not the AG’s office.
    This is going to get embarrassing real quick.
    However the meltdown should rival election night 2015.

  7. So if I, with a budget of $5.00 post something on Facebook about the US election, I too could be charged with interfering with the US elections! I wonder where that leaves mobs of howling illegal aliens actually in the United States openly agitating for and against particular candidates? Or dare we ask?

    He had more effect on the 2016 election and the Donald Trump Administration than some Russian bot corporation.

  10. Indeed, echo the comments above. These are the kind of “charges” one expects from the Stazi. If this ever got to court, it would be dismissed. Just a Hollywood Show trial.
    Democrat politicians are guilty of far worse and many more crimes over their repeated slanders and offensive calls for violence and mob behaviour.
    All of a sudden, the US is no longer a land of free speech, unless one is a politician.
    Mueller should be embarrassed, but he’s getting obscenely paid, so embarrassment would be limited.

  12. So the real message is post no comment critical of the Party.
    To criticize the Party is to commit a criminal act.
    Citizens must not be exposed to wrongthink.
    If the accused “Russian” is crowd sourcing a legal defence in the USA,I am in.
    The fools and bandits ,Mueller and Co, will be twisting in the wind if a defence is made.

  14. What happens next? If Americans post on-line or tweet in support of the “conspiracy” then are they part of the conspiracy?

    This is bizarro law to say the least. Some Russians get together, come up with a few ideas that they think will get Americans fighting with one another, but they are just mainstream ideas from American public opinion. This is about as “dangerous to American political freedom” as watching Fox News.

    This seems like victimless crime, to have some non-resident of the U.S.A. repeating things that millions of residents of the U.S.A. would be saying to one another regardless. If you were really cynical, you could imagine some big money from somewhere in the U.S.A. (well above ground level in Manhattan if you really need a clue) going to some Russian oligarch instructing him to produce these indictable “offenses” so that conservative opinion could be branded as criminal in some way. I suspect Canada will follow suit. Just watch, Russian internet trolls will be saying bad things about Pierre’s son and that will be characterized by our media as inciting disrespect for the Natural Governing Party among the hosers who couldn’t possibly have reached such a conclusion without being duped by evil Russians.

    The trolls will of course say a few choice things about the rest of the Ottawa circus just to feed the “sowing discord in general” meme.

    I think it may turn out to be some byzantine hall of mirrors which may end up with proof rendered in a court of law that John Doe defamed himself, sued himself, and took title to his own house, evicting himself then moving in.
