Should we call the anger Ford Derangement Syndrome?

Lost in the discussion of Ontario Premier Doug Ford invoking the notwithstanding clause to push through passage of Bill 5 is the fact that judges have their own notwithstanding clause.

And they use it all the time.

  1. Note to Ford, when using notwithstanding, please be sure to also notwithstand the 5 year limit on the notwithstanding so that, in fact, the original notwithstanding is permanent and not temporary.

2nd note to Ford, please notwithstand every other piece of nonsense from the feds since trudeau (no, not just 2, but also 1)

3rd note to Ford, please ensure that you’ve more cameras on facing reporters when you about to explode their heads. The entertainment value is priceless.

    1. Ford will have won his SCoC appeal well before the five year limitation, unless it’s hopelessly politicized like the lower court sap.

I have to love the people who argue Ford isn’t following the “spirit” of the Constitution. The con artist’s favourite line.

I’ll be interested in their take if and when our PM calls a snap election this fall. Will that be in the “spirit” of the election laws?

IOW, it’s all BS; government do what they can get away with.

  2. That idiot judge went too far. The ruling is blatantly political, the whole idea of pulling the constitution into whether 25 or 45 is a reasonable number is abjectly ridiculous and an affront to democracy. It is a nakedly partisan court decision and thus it deserves to be trashed by the notwithstanding clause. In fact, the outrage is not nearly as loud as I expected, I suspect the reason is that even people on the left realize that the judge went way beyond his bounds and is to blame for this whole fiasco.

    1. Toronto should have 47000 city councillors. And each one must speak for 10 minutes, or longer, on each bill or motion put before council. This would maximize democracy – and limit the amount of damage Toronto city council could do.

  3. The “justice” clique seem to be another branch of socialist totalitarian, dictatorial control of anyone that has an independent thought.

  4. Justice delayed is Justice denied….Those that say the ruling could have been appealed ignore the time-line…The election would have been held, per Judgement, and removing those elected unlikely…Ford has the hi-ground… Activist Justices need to be shown the color & smell of their crap in a timely manner….

  5. This reminds me of Harry Reid exercising the “nuclear option” by revising Senate voting rules to be a simple majority … but when the Republicans exercise the same option (SCOTUS appointees) … suddenly, the Democraps whine and complain and cry FOUL!

  6. Did I hear that right? Is this the same “judge” that awarded that terrorist murder 10 million dollars??? Talk about compromised ethics?

    1. If they make our hand guns illegal let’s return them to the leftist Liberals and judges fully loaded with the safety’s off…

  7. Using the Notwithstanding Clause means that the Constitution is operating exactly as intended. Elected representatives create the law.

    1. Yes. And it was the choice of Torontonians to vote for cranks, communists, perverts and anti-Semites, demonstrating that they have no business being in charge of a free province.

Parliament is sovereign, and Parliament is back in the hands of people who work for a living and believe in God. Long may it remain so.

  8. what is the comparative proportion of lefties vs righties who believe Apollo 11 was faked?
I ask this because it ALL comes under the category ‘people believe what the WANT to believe’.
I am soooooo glad Doug Ford won the leadership AND the election. interesting how fast THOSE 2 events transpired.
and besides which, WHERE does it say he HAS to wait until after the upcoming election? hmmmm judgey judge?

  9. What bothers me are all the so-called conservatives who oppose Ford’s use of the NWC. Like Lyin Brian, and Bland Bill. As well as the conservative ‘voices’ on CBC. None of it is surprising, but these ‘progressive’ conservatives need to be outed. The sooner the better. Especially Lyin Brian.
