      Poll Question

Do you agree with the creation of a new statutory holiday recognizing a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation?

      No

    1. Let’s have apologies for:
      a) Genghis Khan and the Mongol rampages
      b) the Islamic rampage after Muhammad
      c) the human sacrifices of the Maya
      d) the human sacrifices of the Aztec
      e) the wars between Huron and Iroquois
      f) Assyrian, Babylonian, Hitite, etc fighting
      g) victims of Lenin
      h) victims of Stalin
      I) victims of Mao
      etc
Heck, by the time we finish we could end up with 365 holidays every year.

  1. There will neither be truth nor reconciliation.

There are too many vested interests in the grievance-mongering victim industry for that.

    1. Pretty spot on – the grievance industry has provided highly lucrative careers to know-nothing boneheads who would barely qualify for a job at a carwash or a tittie-bar. They know that if “no more racism” or some such, they are out of that nice $300k p.a. varsity diversity job, and looking to retire on a dishwasher’s salary. If they are lucky. Otherwise, more likely, social security.

  2. Over the years I’ve seen a few ideas for a new holiday and didn’t consider any of the would happen, but these are aboriginal activist groups. I can’t imagine justin idiot boy resisting this opportunity to make himself appear semi-divine to his followers.

  3. first “weed” – check
    then “carbon tax” (whoops!)
then “west coast tanker ban” – check
    then “hand gun ban”
then “west coast pipeline” – check back in 10 years

how about a national holiday where no one gets paid? call it “Stay Home Day”

    1. If I may add

      first “weed” – check
      then “carbon tax” (whoops!)
then “west coast tanker ban” – check
then “hand gun ban” (hey, isn’t there already a murder ban?)
then “west coast pipeline” – checked
      Pipeline East – checked
      Oil patch investment – checked

  4. The article forgot to mention Victoria Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Just rename July first the A&C Holiday?
    ( A= Aboriginals)

  5. If they want to make it official they should send every Canadian a cheque that day too. Money for nothing and sit around on your ass all day. Live for a day how the natives do!

    1. I was talking to a man at work today about this. He was saying in his kids schools they have to offer thanks to various tribes for them letting us use their land..GRRR!!

  6. Butts was McGuintys puppet master when Ont created Family Day in order to get re-elected and now he’s doing the same thing federally. My guess is their own polling numbers don’t look good.

    1. I fervently hope that is the case. I know for a fact his numbers literally suck in Quebec & given the annihilation of Wynne this time we can say adios to Ontario – the West..hmm, BC is a crap shoot, Ab & Sask 100% Blue…even Ralph the imbecile Goodale is toast this time around…

Yea I’d say they are going down…

      1. Ralph will retire, undefeated. I hope his death comes before his first pension cheque.

  7. “White Colonial Settler SHAME day”?

What better way to deconstruct our countries and our cultures than a “healthy” dose of self-loathing? THIS is what “transforming Canada” looks like. Obama tried it here and thankfully there are STILL 50.000000000001% of American’s who refuse to destroy the most successful, most egalitarian, most generous country ever to have existed on the planet

Your country will be GONE in a generation if this “Day” comes to pass.

  8. How about, Grievance Day, or Indian Day, or White Guilt Day, how about Trudeau Day or Racism Day… how about Divide and Conquer Day, Pandering for Votes Day, maybe National Socialist Day, or how about, Boarding School Day, or Indians should be treated like Children Day, Apartheid Day, Billions of Taxpayer Dollars Day, Taxpayers give Money to Indians Day, Canada is Racist Day, Remove all Statues Days, Re-write History Day, White People are Bad Day… Because the LIberal Party and the Media say so Day… oh the many possibilities.

    1. From your list I prefer Apartheid Day as the arguably questionable strategy of the Residential School program was the last time a Canadian government seriously attempted to assimilate those folks rather than maintain a wretched apartheid and now they’re enhancing it to subordinate non natives to perpetual guilt and fiscal responsibility to the institutionally idle, entitled, and racially credentialed ghettos. Devoid of individual property rights, Canadian apartheid has evolved to give increasing collective native authority over non native activities on Crown land. Apartheid Day it is and I don’t give a damn on which day that becomes.

  9. I’m looking forward to our Prime Minister blubbering like a baby at yet another significant cultural milestone.

  10. I, for one, look forward to the holiday. I will proudly refer to it as the John A. MacDonald holiday(or Settler’s Day for short) and can celebrate all the great things he did for this country. Maybe we can have a parade for all us colonialists.

  11. “Truth and Reconciliation”……straight from the Marxist lexicon.

    Next up…..a Ministry of Re-Education.

  12. We should call it Smuggler’s Day. The smokers can chain smoke some cheap lung-burners and the gangs can shoot off their mental health pistols.

  13. I suggest an annual “Go Screw Yourselves” Day.

It is a day on which all Canadians turn to Big Aboriginal and flip them off. You can even make greeting cards depicting the middle finger in the shape of a maple leaf. On that day, the rest of Canada can enjoy extra heat/air-conditioning, electricity, water and any other resource by cutting off those resources to the northern ghettos so polluted by the “white man’s progress”.

  14. Everyone sitting around doing nothing and getting paid for the day seems an appropriate way to celebrate this “holiday”.

  15. National feel bad about yourself if you’re white day. No thanks. I’ll take the day off and feel good about myself instead. Take that liberals, hopefully you do the right thing and jump off a bridge or something to atone for your sins.

  16. The residential school issue has been blown out of all propprtion by the bleeding hearts.

All this virtue signalling is truly getting ridiculous.

    1. However, Highway goes the opposite direction when asked about the issue of missing and murdered indigenous women.

“That is not a problem of aboriginal people. It’s a problem of the white, heterosexual male. That’s who’s doing it. That’s who’s in trouble. That’s where the disorder is.

      1. Wow. I once heard Thompson Highway speak. I thought he had some sense. Guess I was mistaken.

      2. The principal perpetrators of violence and death to indigenous women are indigenous men.

There’s a truth you’re not likely to hear anytime soon on CBC.

  17. “After becoming a federal statutory holiday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation would be a day off work for federal employees.” Well that’s one thing: the average Joe won’t notice anyway that a couple of hundred thousand silly servants aren’t at work that day. To paraphrase another poster: they can sit on their asses and play Indian.

    1. This is being done on your dime — another perk for the useless public service. Private sector companies will not be able to afford the additional day off.

    1. Yeah !!!

Andrew ? Andrew ? Where are you ?

      Has anyone seen Andrew ?

      Someone wake up Andrew.

  18. The questions never asked (or rarely) : Did none of the residential school children gain from the experience? Were they all some perverts plaything, or some sociopaths punching bag? Did none learn some valuable western knowledge, the same abilities that make most of us productive citizens? Was it all destructive? Did they all lose by being denied their own culture, that very culture that they were removed from because of deprivation, neglect and poverty.

    1. If I’m not mistaken, when the Anglican Church attempted to close the residential school at Morley in the early 1960s, the Morley band sued them, successfully, to keep it open. Someone could perhaps double check that, but I’m fairly certain that was, in fact the case. So it couldn’t have been all bad.

    2. The commission would only hear those with a tale of woe. Aboriginals with a good experience in residential schools were not allowed to participate. So they wrote the conclusions and then interviewed the appropriate parties.

      1. Only interviewing those with negative experiences in residential schools does a serious injustice to many who worked hard to provide a good education to aboriginals. In fact, it hides the truth about much of what went on. I have a book written by a woman who taught in a residential school. It has many pictures of happy — genuinely happy -kids. Far better than how many aboriginals are treated on reserves today. Lying about the past and shutting down anyone who does not agree with the current politically correct view will not solve today’s problems.

    3. Woodporter, I remember a discussion on line with an Indian who went through school system and then became a teacher in it. He said his wife also went to one, and both were very pleased with the education they got, and how they were treated. Also mentioned was the fact that many “white” kids went to the same schools, because that was all that was available. So, yes, there was a lot of good. That does not excuse the abuse.

  19. Well I for one took the whole “White Guilt” thing to heart and booked a vacation which will allow me to get a fairly decent all-over sun tan (well except for the parts no one else is supposed to see anyway). Can’t do more than that!

  20. If there was a genocide in the past, then it was a very unsuccessful one. There are a lot more indians/indigenous peoples/natives/first nations (take your pick) than there were when hunter-gatherers dominated the continent. Maybe we should call it “Introduction of the Wheel to Stone-Age Cultures Day”

  21. What day will be set aside for the indigenous people who were enslaved/cannibalized by other indigenous people?

  22. We should be celebrating the residential schools as a huge show of generosity towards savages. That level of generosity is unprecedented in other cultures (which are savage, worthless and failed).

P.S. When we become a majority turd worlder country the injuns are screwed.

    1. You got that right! Our natives should be glad this land wasn’t settled by the Chinese, the Portuguese, Spaniards or heck, even the ‘Muricans, for that matter. How do they see a Chinese-majority or -controlled Canada dealing witch native land claims? Maybe the Tibetans or Uighur might have a few thoughts on the matter……!

  23. Truth and reconciliation? That’s been tried in South Africa. I wonder how that worked out….

  24. *
you know the john a macdonald statue was
removed after talks with a small group of
    aboriginals only, right?

Mayor Helps said the larger community wasn’t consulted
on the removal of the statue because that conversation would
have been “very narrow” and yielded “not very useful dialogue.”

    *

    1. The larger community would not have told her what she wanted to hear. I hope those in Victoria have the good sense to vote this totalitarian ideologue out of office. Removing that statue is very offensive to any one who values our nation and heritage.

      1. Victoria is full of leftists, kick one out (former mayor Dean Fortin) replace with a gay leftist (Helps) SJW. Kick her out, and one likely gets Ben Isitt (SIlver Spoon Commie from Oak Bay) or any other number of various flavours of lefty dingbats. Municipal, provincial and federal, this region is represented by lefty dingbats through and through, look it up, and add Lizard May to that esteemed group!

This area is hardcore NDP, the citizenry still hasnt been screwed enough yet.

So, the upside, is Lisa Lisa is likely toast, downside is her replacement will likely be another nutjob.

  25. They could do this without costing anybody anything, and keep true to their Liberal policies.

    Just rename December 25th.

  26. I have a question. Why is it that the people so keen to be seen pandering to the natives (who, I’d wager, wouldn’t stand to have one in their gated communities), are the same ones who are so eager to bring in people from other cultures who would eradicate the native population if given the chance?

  27. Just another attempt to buy votes with their employer’s money. And it will work too, lots of dummies out there who vote for whichever politician offers to give them the most.

  28. If they want to have a national day for aboriginals, fine, but calling it Truth and Reconciliation is too political and casts someone as the guilty party — guess who. The Liberal focus on identity politics is getting annoying. It is also not helping to reconcile differences.

  29. Lets call it Tomahawk Thursday and celebrate it the day before Good Friday. Then all the atheists, communists, liberals and first immigrants [AKA] first nations can enjoy the long weekend thats being paid for by those of us who work for a living. Many of us who will be working that weekend won t have the opportunity to have time with OUR families because we are working to pay the taxes that support them.

  30. Here is the truth: the white man gave the Indian charity because the white man thought he could help the Indian, and make him a credit rather than a burden to civilized society.

The Indian repaid the white man by demonstrating, repeatedly, that the Indian wasn’t worth trying to help.

What the Indian needs to reconcile himself to is the reality that the white man owes him less than nothing—and on the contrary, would be better off today had he driven the Indian tribes into extinction generations ago.

  31. Someone should create a micro brew called “Trudeau’s Tears” and that would be all we drink on that day.

  32. “Ont created Family Day in order to get re-elected and now he’s doing the same thing federally.”

It’s a sad friggin’ state of affairs when the creation of another meaningless day off is enough to sway voters. Have we really gone that far into the crapper? OK. That’s a rhetorical question.

  33. Truth And Reconciliation is an Indian activist Construct…it’s a Wish listing by Lawyers & Judges by Indians for Indians.. Truth is it only applies to Indians….Their obligation is Reconciliation or What?

What Canada needs is a “Truth & Consequences” by ALL others (Non-Indians only) that decide what Happens with the CROWN Indian Act including the UN aboriginal Law…..The Queen may have obligations that England needs to adjudicate

    END THE STUPIDITY
