Art Of The Deal

Trump’s latest sucker punch to the expert political class follows a familiar pattern that Our Betters still haven’t figured out. They are the unwitting sparring partners in the president’s entertaining rope-a-dope. Trump makes a hasty, impetuous comment or policy announcement and various experts howl that it will fail and commiserate about the president’s stupidity. Pundits warn it will yield harsh political consequences. The public catches on to a problem it didn’t know existed. The president’s foes capitulate; public views it as a win. Expert political class loses again. (See “Trump will never get 3 percent economic growth” predictions as the most recent example.)

Shh! Stop telling them.

    1. Indeed. Even in rope-a-dope a punch gets thrown.
Canada is about to get round-housed.

  1. The previous administration was not negotiating in the best interests of the country, but rather their globalization and diversity masters in the grand liberal plan of open borders. Trump is for USA and Americans.

  2. The Trudeau government was elected just in time to smoothly manage Canada-US relations with the incoming and largely like-minded Clinton administration.

Oh dear. Not quite how it turned out for the “Kids in the (Parliamentary) Hall”.

As my old sergeant-major would have said: “ASSUME makes an ASS out of U and ME.”

  3. Where is UnMe? Just the other day I was castigated for saying that Trump offered to drop US tariffs if the other nations would drop theirs. And then today, from the link: “This is why we agreed today to work together toward zero tariffs, zero non-tariff barriers, and zero subsidies on non-auto industrial goods,” the statement reads

Tell us again what an idiot Trump is?

    1. If you believe that, you’re a moron. I have no doubt of your sincerity of belief.

“the Trump administration’s only completed agreement on trade, the one it made with South Korea, involved getting that country to accept quotas on how much steel it can sell to Americans.

They also have to skip over the details of the very agreement that they are touting. A promise that Europe will buy more soybeans and liquefied natural gas from America, to the extent it means anything, is a promise of managed rather than free trade.”

  4. They don’t listen anyway. They’d rather look for Russians and Jews under the bed.

They never do the right thing—return all powers of government to the people they exploited, divulge any and all information that might lead to their cronies being brought to justice—until they have guns pointed at their temples. The prospect of consequences for one’s actions concentrates the mind wonderfully.

  5. There is no downside to telling them; they will never start listening. It simply does not matter. No matter what warning we give, no matter what joke we tell; the unmes of the world simply are not capable of getting it.

It is not that they have disconnected themselves from reality, it is that reality does not exist for them. Never has.

They have never acknowledged the real world, and they never can. That is why it will never stop.

  6. Think of it this way.

Your grand parents taught you that conservatives were never right.
    Your parents taught the same.
All your school teachers taught the same.
All your friends thought the same.
You watched the Ontario PC party, the GOP, worldwide you saw defeat snatched from the jaws of victory by “conservatives” for the last 60,000 years.
You agreed with articles you saw that said “conservatives are dumb”.
You agree with everything Rachel Maddow ever said (and she is the smartest person in the world after Hillary).

So when you see Trump slapping the taste out the mouths of every marxist around the world, you think to yourself “well, even a broken clock is right twice a day”. And that is all you CAN think. Because rational thought and logical reasoning are a sin and patriarchal and cisnormative and whatever other things you are Pavlonian conditioned to think.

    1. “So when you see Trump slapping the taste out the mouths of every marxist around the world”

“Gargling Kim-Jung Un’s balls” =/= slapping the taste out of Marxist mouths.

  7. Outrage Fatigue.

I’ll betcha it won’t be long now before we start hearing diagnosis about some leftist mental condition such as this affecting those already afflicted with TDS.

As per trade negotiations, it is painfully obvious to me that Trump is behaving like a lifetime gambler who finally finds himself holding a Royal Flush at the biggest stakes games on the planet. You can be sure much of the media recognize this as well, but their loyalty to their narrative dictates that they continue to paint Trump as ‘scary’, not intuitive and skilled. Their coverage has been absolutely hostile and utterly dishonest about the way he has so effectively, and responsibly, wielded America’s might at negotiation tables around the world.

Trudeau himself is a self-righteous, posing, arrogant prick. Conversely, I have no doubt that Ford is down-to-earth enough that he could hammer out a winning Ontario/USA Fair Trade Agreement with Trump with relative ease. Shame Shame on the Canadian Conservatives for supporting Trudeau in his embarrassingly irresponsible actions in these vital NAFTA negotiations!

    1. Conservatism in Canada is on Life support….mainly due to Liberalism that has seeped into the party for Decades. Scheers support for Soviet Style Production Quota’s etc. (Quebec Dairy Cartel), and his Public trashing of likely the only TRUE Conservative in the Caucus, Maxime Bernier, not going after the Groper, and so many other issues left alone, I knew the gig was up…

@ 65, having lived 95% of my life in This country, I am saddened to have seen it turn from a Vibrant Capitalist Country with a Future so bright you’d need LEAD glasses, to be turned into a Socialist Shithole.

Should that POS in the PMO be returned..? I may well Look South and rethink my citizenship. No idle talk that….

    2. “Trudeau himself is a self-righteous, posing, arrogant prick.”

You apparently have a higher opinion of him than I do.

      1. I second that motion.

Trump should let PM Butts’ puppet cool his heels for a while and let Trudeau continue his destruction of the Canadian economy.

        1. If Tinker Bell gets another term in office he and PM Butts will have this country so invested in metatastic Socialism that there will be no saving it. Welcome to Venuzuela North!

    3. What, you thought the “Canadian Conservatives” were on the side of rational thought?

All they want is more time at the trough than the other guys. The edge of the cliff is always the destination.

  8. The Greens had field days when Obama was in the Whitehouse and doing what liberal democrats always do to appease the Eco Nazis but now we have Trump and he don’t play so they file stupid lawsuits the NRDC and the EDF their all a bunch of con-men and snake oil salesmen selling their fake elixer to the gullible dumb enough to beleive them

  9. More fairy-tales. Trump and the EU agreed to an exploratory committee. Congratulations, It’s nothing.

BTW Kate et alia, you stink. It’s the desperation. It’s bubbling up from your subconscious, and it explains the grasping for these pravda-esque articles by third tier writers.

    1. For once you’re correct. Talk is cheap. The Eurotrash will stall hoping for another Dim in 2020 ready to Baltimore the country for their own benefit. Trump should move the German bases to Poland and Hungary, and pull out of NATO. The EU has no intention of funding defense. Like most commie canucks, they despise the U.S. while relying on our military.

    1. Canada is the small child of a country, that is all bluster, but when threatened, hides behind and peeks out around Daddy America, expecting protection.

  11. One thing is becoming abundantly clear in Canada – US relations: their dickhead is a LOT smarter than our dickhead.
