If she truly LOVED her children … she would have walked away (about 3 min. into her tirade). Her children’s embarrassment reminded me of … me. My WWII, Korea, VietNam Vet. father pulled a similar public stunt that embarrassed the hell out of me, and made me a laughingstock in my Junior High in 1969. My dad drove me to school one morning and saw one of my classmates with a LARGE peace sign embroidered onto the back of his jean jacket (an accessory to his shoulder length blond hair). My Vet dad flipped, got out of his car where the kid was putting his bike into a fenced bike rack area … and proceeded to scream at the kid about “what his peace sign really meant”. How it started as an anti-American “ban the bomb” symbol created by the communists to spurn the anti war movement … and he tossed a few hippie-invectives at the kid. He caused such a disturbance that the principal and several teachers came running to chase the “lunatic” off campus. I ran from the bike racks as fast as I could … but the damage was done … Everyone found out that it was MY (alcoholic) father. Every kid in school mocked me (forever) about my lunatic father. Social embarrassment x10. This lunatic woman put her (rubbish) politics above CARE and LOVE of her own children. Speaks volumes … right there.

All she can do is lash out against those who are forcing her to look at the truth. The CBC tries to hide the truth, and frightened people take comfort in that, but everyone knows that this is not the last terrorist attack, and that the denial cannot go on forever.

  13. What will be the response to a ‘educator’ with such views? I can confidently say NOTHING! When a society abandons standards and is not prepared to defend core values then expect the worst. IMHO this is why conservatives take such comfort in thinking that radicalism resides in the immigrant population. It is those other people not us. This video suggests otherwise.

    The education system has been taken over by ‘progressives’ ( a polite term) coming out of the ’60’s. Conservatives have done almost nothing to counter this subversion. The reaction to this video will be like all others. A “Tut, tut, tut” of supposed superior intellect which is not substantive.

  24. I’m not at all surprised at her reaction.

    During the mid-1980s, I was in a social circle that included a number of teachers who, as it turned out, were in a world unto themselves. All of them had permanent status at their respective institutions, so they had no worries about losing their jobs. Their biggest concern seemed to be how they were going to spend their two months off the next summer, and where.

    None of them seemed particularly informed, or concerned, about what went on in the outside world. None of them regularly read a newspaper–in fact, some were quite smug about it. I, on the other hand, read 3 every day. I was also an active shortwave listener at the time, so I also got an international perspective on things through stations such as the BBC World Service but, since I didn’t travel to foreign countries like they did during their summers, my views were considered invalid.

    Like someone suggested about people like her in an earlier comment, I got the impression that few, if any, of those teachers ever worked for a living before they started teaching. I, by the time I became associated with them, had spent a number of years in industry plus I also had the misfortune of having spent a considerable amount of time out of work. Their attitude was that I was the one who made bad choices by not studying for an education degree and becoming a teacher like them.

    Trying to speak with them about politics or current events was quite frustrating. They knew little, or even cared, about such matters, others than how much money the government would be setting aside for their salaries in any upcoming contract negotiations. It’s been said that ignorance is bliss, which might explain why they seemed to lead relatively care-free lives.

    1. I try to admire teachers in the school system, but it is hard. First – most of them have a very, very limited experience with the world – they have surrounded themselves with other teachers (brothers, sisters, husbands, parents, uncles, aunts are usually all teachers) so they have no real experience with any other profession. They are all trained the same way and so they think the same way. It is really hard to have any type of productive conversation with a teacher since they can only think in one dimension. This is a prime example of their thought processes.

      And to make it worse, we hand off responsibility to teachers to provide students with information on career options – no wonder most high school graduates think that becoming a teacher is a great profession. They have NO experience with any other career as they have spend hours and hours of mind numbing hours listening to teachers – who wouldn’t think teaching is a viable career option. Yet whenever you try to suggest to teachers that maybe they should get people who work in other careers in to discuss career options, the most they will allow is a career “day” where they schedule 10 people to talk for five minutes each about their work.

      Hopefully people like Doug Ford can get this changed.

  27. In the spirit of ‘truth in advertising’, maybe it is time we start referring to private schools as the Capitalist School System and the public school system as the Socialist School System.

    This teacher, whom I assume belongs to the latter, absolutely qualifies to be the poster child for Canadian leftardism. She has been propagandized and groupthunk to the extent that her mental state is questionable. So intense is her belief in her beliefs, she deflects any opposing opinion as ‘hate’ and any deliverer of that message a ‘racist’. By using that tact, she never has to even acknowledge that valid opposing views do indeed exist. If you do not consistently question your own beliefs about the world, you are not near as smart as you’ve convinced yourself you are.

    The point I have been making here for awhile now is being proven as even more valid the more time passes. It is well past time for Conservative pundits/politicians to publicly challenge ‘The Left’ to a series of live, public and FORMAL debates. That angry bitch is representative of the politicians she supports, these people are practically left naked when you strip them of their emotional appeals and personal insults. They censor us because they CANNOT argue us.

      How can a socialist/fascist teach in a regular school?

      She seem to swear, is that common in classrooms of today?
      She apparently has children with her and yells at them when they have more sense than her. Perhaps some social justice agency should seek the custody of the children, she is unfit to look after them.
      She says “what is wrong with this world is that we don’t love, we don’t talk to each other”, do you get the sense that she is projecting love? Do you agree that talking to each other is a dialog as opposed to monolog?
      As a letter to the editor in today’s Calgary Herald noted that there are assassins of free speech, do you think she qualifies?

      Maureen makes a very important point when she mentions the bubble that many teachers and a lot of public sector workers live in. They become wholly inured to the process of cause and effect. They think that university degrees automatically confer earnings, or that years on the job should be the only determinant for pay increases. There’s nothing in their world about competition, and the existentiality of it. I’ve never worked in an arena where I wasn’t competing for dollars. When I was making downhole pumps, we competed against other companies on quality and price. I sold cars. Ditto. I had to bid on jobs for the machine shop, and some you won, some you lost. I have to sell equipment in order to eat. These people know nothing of that type of competition, and are all the worse for it.
      Yet, like her, they deem themselves to be our moral and intellectual superiors.

      I used to be a post-secondary educator myself until I finally had enough and resigned. I had enough of the idiocy of the job, and it wasn’t all because of the students, if you get my meaning.
