Art Of The Deal

Shake ’em up.

The Pentagon is analyzing the cost and impact of a large-scale withdrawal or transfer of American troops stationed in Germany, amid growing tensions between President Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to people familiar with the work.

The effort follows Trump’s expression of interest in removing the troops, made during a meeting earlier this year with White House and military aides, U.S. officials said. Trump was said to have been taken aback by the size of the U.S. presence, which includes about 35,000 active-duty troops, and complained that other countries were not contributing fairly to joint security or paying enough to NATO.

Word of the assessment has alarmed European officials, who are scrambling to determine whether Trump actually intends to reposition U.S. forces or whether it is merely a negotiating tactic ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels, where Trump is again likely to criticize U.S. allies for what he deems insufficient defense spending.

  1. Love Trump!!
Shaking it up in the EU, status quo no more, defend yourself.
This will kill the welfare/socialist states and force them to deal with reality.
    Go Trump.
This is why they hate him, the elite position is threatened.
    People will have a say.
    Love it.
    Freedom from tyranny.
Hungary, Poland, Czeck and Austria are responding.

    1. Don’t know about Austria but the other three already had defense spending above the NATO minimum before Trump was elected. So they are not responding to Trump (although he is rather popular there) but responding to Pootin and especially his occupation of parts of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.

        1. Would not surprise me one bit, Romania and Bulgaria will probably get there too.

    2. Well said. Trump keeps knocking the elites against the ropes in one sector after another and that is fantastic.

  2. Move our troops east to Poland.

Poland has a lower cost of living, is actually spending their (meager) GDP on defense. Don’t put US trops forward on the Polish frontier, especially at Kaliningrad. That could be seen and claimed by Russia as provocative. Place them in critical blocking positions to make any attempted Russian attack west stall out, and where they can support operations in the Baltic Sea.

In fifty years, US troops may be needed to defend Poland from the German and French Caliphates.

    1. Totally agree with you. Germany is the poster child for the Euro ripoff of the USA military defense of Europe. The Euros sucked Canada and the USA into WWI & WWII, which negatively impacted the futures of both countries. Germany is one of the richest countries in the world and yet does not meet their treaty obligation of spending 2% of GDP on their defense. The rest of Europe is not much better. Support those countries that demonstrate they care.

I am sure that playing hardball with Canada trade has a negative slant on the fact Canada spends 0.5% of GDP on defense. SO like the Euros Canada is robbing USA taxpayers by off loading Canada’s defense on them. Progressives can BS all who will listen about how ‘advanced’ they are but they are doing it by floating NSF funding and by stiffing the USA on treaty commitments.

      1. Canadian spending on military is about 1% of GDP, or 50% of what Canada had promised. It hasn’t been 2% of GDP since Brian Mulroney was PM. Your reference to 0.5% may be an error and I’m not attacking here.

I apologise for using a CBC link but…
        https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/nato-spending-gdp-brussels-1.4022576

Canada’s equalization / provincial welfare program and the CBC budget combined adds up to be exactly equal to how much the Gov’t of Canada underfunds its military. $20 billion each year, while it should be +$40 billion each year and growing at exactly the same as the inflation rate.
Seems an easy fix for me.

    2. Moving the troops to Poland is an excellent idea, even the eastern regions. After all, Poland does not border Russia except for the Kaliningrad Oblast to the North.

    3. Here’s a better idea: let Poland et alia defend themselves. You can go over there if you want. I might even support your cause with money.

      1. Oh course can’t wait to fed the Poles and Hungarians into Pootin, that will teach them for not accepting turd world hordes.

        1. Well, it does behoove them to grow their populations so they can face down the Russian menace. Guess they want EU AND NATO pogey too.

          1. Bitch please. You’re too transparent for such cheap tricks. You have no loyalty to western civilization and you want it destroyed piece by piece. Cede Eastern Europe to Pootinistan, Cede Western Europe to koranimals, Cede Canada to Asia, Cede US to Mexico. Destroy white man’s civilization once and for all, that is your explicit objective. At least be honest, own it, stop pretending otherwise.

  3. It’s pretty pathetic when a now free nation comes to rely on the army of occupation that defeated them because they are too cheap to fund their own defence.

    1. They might also need them at home to deal with the Che inspired anarchists being unleashed by the growing radical left in the Democrat party.

      1. No need for military troops to deal with them commies, armed citizenry would take care of them overnight if not restricted by police.

  4. Alas, it would take a world war to shake Canadians out of our own sense of self-wonderfulness and moral preening when it comes to matters of defence and things military. The situation has only got worse since the Seventies.*

Our relationship with and proximity to the US has given us a long, free ride on defence since the end of WWII. It simply doesn’t seem to occur to our Dear Leader and his student council government in Ottawa that – never mind the “first post-national state” drivel from his lips – a country that implicitly relies entirely on someone else for its defence, has effectively ceded its sovereignty and so risks becoming truly “post-national” indeed. Hint to the Parliamentary Kids in the Hood: perhaps constantly urinating on the shoes of our southern neighbour isn’t so smart after all.

Obviously, we cannot possibly match the military capabilities of the US but a larger, better-equipped military would at least make us seem serious to our closest ally. And I am not talking hundreds of thousands here; a defence force of 100,000 regular personnel, capable of asserting our sovereignty out from our three oceans, would make all the difference. But then, it would increase our carbon footprint I suppose.

    * In 1967, Canada – then about 20 million in population – mustered a regular military of 125,000 (heck, we even had our own aircraft carrier!). Today, we’re at half that number and can’t even support our ageing flotilla of frigates at sea. This from a wealthy country of 37 million!

    1. I saw one ranking of 25th among the world’s Armed Forces but it was just click-bait. I doubt – and no offense to the members – we truly rank anywhere near that high.
I have thought a single year of service might help a lot of youth who might find its better than a year of working at McDonald’s or Tim Horton’s but I don’t believe they offer such a short term. And no offense to the reserves either. Canada could up its numbers of pure combat soldiers this way and maybe help some kids get a head start on Peterson’s 12 rules.

    2. Very well said,JJM! And if you know members of our Armed Forces, you will know that our military preparedness is a facade.
Canada would be hard pressed to field a brigade of ground troops, 30 Fighters or two dozen tanks.

      1. Canada hasn’t sufficient ground forces to conduct a prepared defense of Saskatoon, nor to take it by deliberate attack.

    3. The military — as Dr. Milton Friedman pointed out — is a socialist institution, (obviously inefficient). Should it be replaced with well regulated, efficient, private sector militias?

What business do Conservatives have bombing a country that did not bomb us — Libya? Who will foot the $180+ million bill?

Stick it to the taxpayer and walk away since the Conservatives are immune to the consequences of the destruction they caused.

When was the last time Parti conservateur du Canada discussed misuse of the military?

      1. oh. so the USA was supposed to WAIT for the libyan bombs to detonate on US soil or sumptin?
libya under killdaffy was bombing a lot of targets. not to bomb them is 1st cousin to appeasment.
        besides, it WORKED.

        1. “libya under killdaffy was bombing a lot of targets. ”

That was true in the ’80s until Reagan properly put them in their place. That bombing made good sense. US involvement in the 2011 campaign made no sense. Indeed, since Kaddhafi had actually dismantled his nuke program, it signalled that others should not do that.

      2. I am an admirer of Milton Friedman, but here he is clearly speaking outside his area of expertise.

A military exists to defend a nation and its national interests. It is up to a nation to determine what its interests are and order its military to act accordingly. In a democracy, the legally elected government of the day gets to determine how it will employ the armed forces and in pursuit of what policies.

Your mere disagreement over the use of the Canadian military in Libya does not constitute an example of its misuse; it simply constitutes your disagreement with its use in this instance.

The great thing about a democracy is that you can try to vote the government out of office if it uses the military in ways you do not approve of.

  5. Of course Canada used to have two bases in Germany in Baden-Soellingen and Lahr… but today we have 4 helicopters in Mali and several hundred troops in Europe, but basically we contribute SFA, despite what Sajjan – the all-time greatest Canadian reserve soldier ever – and PM Ass-Grab tell us.

    1. “Of course Canada used to have two bases in Germany”
We pulled those troops out of Germany after the iron curtain fell; about the same time that Germany decided they had better things to spend their money on than their own self defense.
Let Uncle Sucker do it and we’ll spend our country stupid helping refugees and building green energy projects.

    2. “Of course Canada used to have two bases in Germany in Baden-Soellingen and Lahr…”

When these bases were closed down, there was considerable sleight of hand involved as Ottawa declared its “peace dividend”.

For example, our best-equipped brigade group – 4 CMBG in Lahr – wasn’t actually repatriated to Gagetown or Shilo. Oh no, it simply disappeared, with some of its equipment and personnel parcelled out to the three remaining anemic brigade groups in Canada. And this doesn’t mean that a couple of those brigade groups were bulked out with, say, an extra infantry battalion each. Nope, those battalions vanished.

Today, a regular infantry battalion can barely muster two rifle companies for an exercise (vice the minimum three in a full-up battalion). Even more embarrassing, an entire regular artillery regiment can barely field four – count ’em! – four guns (vice three batteries each with six guns for a total of 18 guns).

And our Dear Leader and his high school co-op programme cabinet want to save the planet and lead the world on gender issues?

      For shame.

  6. It is high time to call in Canada’s marker on defence too. For too long Canada has been a pathetic weakling while squandering it’s vast fortune away on solar grants and Muslim refugees and other various commie socialist causes. And after all that Canada still does not have a single transnational expressway and almost no other related infrastructure. Pathetic.

  7. Per the Monroe Doctrine, the Western Hemisphere is the US sphere of influence and the US has the right to remove, without warning or apology, any foreign government in the Americas posing a security threat to the United States, with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.

Eurasia is the Russian sphere of influence. The Russian Federation has the right to remove, without warning or apology, any European government posing a security threat to Russia with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.

The Middle East is Israel’s sphere of influence. Israel has the right to remove, without warning or apology any Middle Eastern government posing a security threat to Israel, with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.

    So:

    1. The US has the right to remove both Justin Trudeau and AMLO after his election, and replace them with men willing to expel the Chinese and Muslims from Canada and wall in the Mexican savages.

    2. Russia has the right to smash Germany to pieces, see to it Germany stays smashed, and stay as long as is needed to purge Europe of her Muslim and globalist fifth columns.

    3. Amalek must be utterly destroyed, the lands of the Arabs cleansed with nuclear fire. The cities of the Amalekites must never be rebuilt.

The nations Amalek has deceived (Iran and Pakistan) must be humbled, and obliged to turn away from the Amalekite cult or be destroyed with him.

    4. China will not survive long without Amalekite oil. That is as it should be.

You want world peace? That’s how you secure it for the next thousand years.

    1. “The Russian Federation has the right to remove, without warning or apology, any European government posing a security threat to Russia with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.”

European governments have the right to remove, without warning or apology, any Russian government posing a security threat to Europe with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.

Anyone who thinks Montenegro (pop. 630,000) or Estonia (pop. 1.3 million) pose a security threat to Russia (pop. 144 million) should have his head examined.

      1. Haha. They wouldn’t dare. The world, it’s said, was made in six days. It took Russia six months or so to destroy the Third Reich. Today she could undo the Fourth in a matter of hours—with nukes that were supposed to be used to destroy the United States if they ever got serious about ridding the world of socialism. Funny how that worked out.

So could the Israelis. That’s why even the Arab kingdoms have reluctantly and tacitly recognized Israel’s right to exist.

By rights Russia should be queen of Europe. But for the October Revolution, she would already be, with her children enjoying a US-level living standard, if not better, while the Germans, the inventors of globalism, waited for extinction on god-forsaken reserves in Siberia.

Russia will reclaim her birthright before this generation passes away. May the Lord have mercy on anybody, German or Turk, who tries to stand in her way. The Russian army will not.

        1. Meanwhile back in the real world, russia is a turd world shithole with declining demographics, exploding mooselimb population and highest abortion rate in the world. russians keep dying from easily preventable diseases and are light years behind civilization in standard of living. For the Siberian Mongol will accept any level of humiliation and will worship their tyrants with the eagerness of dog kicked one time too many by its drunk master. All they need is said tyrant’s promise that they will subjugate their betters. russian identity is built on rejection of western civilization. Only the most useful idiots in the west romanticize those beasts, just like russians romanticize Stalin, Cathrine the Whore, Ivan the Terrible, Pootin and every other tyrant inflicted on them throughout history. They should have been nuked in the 40s as soon as the West had enough nukes to wipe them out.

          1. Thank you for your input, Madame Freeland.

Enjoy being the toast of the globalists while you can. Your grandfather died in bed in Canada, unpunished and unrepentant. You won’t.

I’m sorry Uncle Adi didn’t kill all the Russians and Jews for you. You should be more grateful the Red Army sent him packing. Next on his order of business was deporting your miserable “Ukrainian” selves to Siberia.

          2. LOL it thinks I am Ukrainian. Bitch please, from Finland to Georgia everyone hates the Siberian Horde. And for good reason.

          3. “from Finland to Georgia everyone hates the Siberian Horde. And for good reason.”

Actually from Norway to Japan every country on Russia’s border remains apprehensive due to it’s past behaviour over centuries — habitual, violent land-grabs.

        2. Actually it’s more likely that Russia will break up much like the USSR and cease to be. It’s a broken POS of a country.

        3. “By rights Russia should be queen of Europe.”

ROTFLMAO. A drunken whore of a queen. Come to think of it sort of like one of their most famous rulers, Catherine the almost blind, animal lover.

          1. Yes she was German by birth, she was also the empress of russia, a political prostitute, a whore, an adulteress and one of most accomplished russian leaders. She is worshiped by Siberian Mongols today along with countless other tyrants that ruled them in the past or rule them today.

P.S. Me filthy creature? Well maybe, but one thing for certain, unlike your heroine I never had intimate relations with those who walk on all fours.

    2. ““The Russian Federation has the right to remove, without warning or apology, any European government posing a security threat to Russia with as much deadly force as necessary, and with no obligation to rebuild afterwards.””

Bzzt. Russia is not a free country and therefore has no rights whatsoever. Not that Russia has any capability to carry out your violent fantasies. They can barely handle Ukraine and Syria.

      1. Russia, like Israel, is a free country, with a right to secure her continued existence and a future for her children.

The globalist occupation governments of the European Union, on the other hand, are utterly illegitimate. They should be liquidated, and their leaders given a fair trial and bought to swift and public justice. What was good enough for the leaders of the Third Reich is good enough for the leaders of the Fourth.

        1. Their children? LOL, you daft cretin. Russians abort their children faster than anyone else on the planet. Pootin giving them a copulating holiday (!) hasn’t changed that. The only russians that do not butcher their litter are mooselimbs.

          1. Thank you for your input, Madame Freeland.

Enjoy being the toast of the globalists while you can. Your grandfather died in bed in Canada, unpunished and unrepentant. You won’t.

          2. You’re repeating yourself Konni. Too much potato vodka or side effects of ocular penetration?

        2. Wrong again. Russia is not a free country. Journalists are harrassed and killed, homosexuals repressed and outright murdered in Chechnya, businesses robbed, opposition politicians murdered. No freedom of expression. Pretty sure it also has conscription aka slavery. That’s part of why all the smart people left.

        3. Calling everyone else a nazi? Did you just paraphrase the 14 words with regards to Russia?
          Trolls gonna troll.

  8. The European Intervention Initiative: A New Military Force Established In Europe

    https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-06-28/european-intervention-initiative-new-military-force-established-europe

The predictions have come true about the emergence of a new defense group that will change the European security environment.

Whatever is in store for the newborn alliance, this is very bad for NATO, as this news is coming just a couple of weeks before the summit that may break up the alliance and consign the much-vaunted concept of “Western unity” to its grave.

  9. I suspect that this is just Trump positioning. While it makes sense from a cost savings and rational policy standpoint, the hawks understandably suspicious of Merkel honeying up more to her current Gas supplier as a reaction, will likely be advising him to continue maintaining a military presence in this de facto EU capital.

  10. Let Europe burn. No one needs them or cares about them. Imagine dying for a Kraut

    1. Most Europeans wouldn’t die for a Kraut. When the Russians come back they’ll be giving them flowers, pork products, vodka and directions to Berlin.

      1. Oh yes they will be greeting them like they did in 1939 and then 45. Even livestock was raped by the Siberian horde.

        1. Thank you again, Madame Freeland, for your input.

The girls in the path of the Red Army threw themselves at the Russian boys, and screamed for more. It had been a long war, and finally there were real men in Germany again who weren’t ancient, cripples or impotent.

They only pretended they’d been raped when their husbands came back from Siberia and they had to explain why there was an extra, Russian-looking child in the family.

          1. Good Konni, have a biscuit.

“They remember me from 39” said a soldat passing though a Polish village and watching barnyard animals firmly planting their asses to the ground.

  11. And yet the USG continues to throw ridiculous sums of money at its military. This is such transparent positioning no one’s going to fall for this.

  12. “actually intends”
well, eutards, here’s a hint: compare the Donald’s record with the ‘traditional’ ‘standard’ record of main stream pollllitishuns to assess his *actual intentions*.

this is a very good time to live in America, be an American and ignore the propaganda.

    1. “this is a very good time to live in America, be an American ”

No it isn’t, unless you like expensive steel, aluminum, washing machines, and various other goods, and hate good economic growth.

      1. heh,
You just effed yourself in splendid fashion.
Good economic growth makes expensive steel, aluminum, washing machines, etc. AFFORDABLE!
And as we wrest these industries from our so called trading “partners” OUR steel, etc. will be just as expensive but more affordable as our tax base (GDP) increases and individual taxes decrease.

  13. EU with 530 million people, and 4 of the top ten economies, should be able to front defense that scares the shit out of Russia. Russia 145 million people, # 11 on economy scale, hobbled by their size, should be worried that the EU would crush them business wise. Butt the socialist EU is just pissing into the wind. Supported by people who are like of Undork and allla S in here. They ain’t got a clue. Hey Undork, I was talking to an individual yesterday who buys and sells metals, and he is surprised it took the USA this long to tackle the problem Also he said that most people (that includes you and I) haven’t a clue as to what the actual status of the issue is. You, like alla S, google, and then think you have factual information, you are that stupid!!!!

  14. My uneducated, unofficial , ignorant opinion
Trump was not just a CEO..He was also his own Project Manager (trained by a father who demanded detail) Trump will not grasp defeat from the jaws of victory…..North Korea will denuclearize & Trump will insist on every detail…China & Russia are telling Kim they will support him (remove their Sanctions) & he can keep his rockets .. You can fill in the blanks
