Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Germany: Man charged with producing biological weapon at home in Cologne.

“Sief Allah H. was arrested after police in Cologne found a deadly toxin in his apartment. A local newspaper reported that the suspect came to Germany in 2016 and had terrorist sympathies.
…
Security services first became suspicious after H. ordered 1,000 castor seeds — the main ingredient for producing ricin — and a coffee grinder from an online store in mid-May, prosecutors said. He successfully produced the toxin in June.
Possession of the highly toxic substance, which is 6,000 times more powerful than cyanide, is restricted by a 1997 international convention on chemical weapons. Exposure causes organ failure and death can occur within 36 to 48 hours, … There is no known antidote.”
The solution here is to inflict Sief Allah H with his own preparation (after his judgement in court). 10 minutes later or less, there will be no problem and anyone else that does the same thing ends up the same way – hoisted on their own petard.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-06-13/real-economic-numbers-215-unemployment-10-inflation-and-negative-economic-growth
The ‘Real’ America: 21.5% Unemployment, 10% Inflation, And Negative Economic Growth
Let’s start by talking about unemployment.
We are being told that the unemployment rate in the United States is currently “3.8 percent”, which would be the lowest that it has been “in nearly 50 years”.
Doesn’t that sound great?
It would be great, if the numbers that they were using were honest.
The truth, of course, is that the percentage of the population that is employed has barely budged since the depths of the last recession. According to John Williams, if honest numbers were being used the unemployment rate would actually be 21.5 percent today.
As I have explained repeatedly, the government has simply been moving people from the “officially unemployed” category to the “not in the labor force” category for many, many years.
If we use the government’s own numbers, there are nearly 102 million working age Americans that do not have a job right now. That is higher than it was at any point during the last recession.
Next, let’s talk about inflation.
If inflation was still calculated the way that it was in 1990, the inflation rate would be 6 percent today instead of about 3 percent.
And if inflation was still calculated the way that it was in 1980, the inflation rate would be about 10 percent today.
Strad, have you raided UnMe’s glue stash again?
And exactly which president caused the mess Trump is resuscitating America from again?
Lumping together “not in the labour force” with “official unemplyment”, to arrive at a “real” unemployment rate of over 21 per cent is absolute nonsense. People not in the labour force could be retired, stay-at-home parents, ill or disabled, or engaged in full time criminal activity. One’s 85-year-old granny is not unemployed. – David Murrell, Economics, UNB at Fredericton
As I am sure you know, Canada’s labour participation is about 50% with about 3-1/2 million part-time employees and around that amount again employed by one level of gubmint. So about a third of the total population is employed.
You are right on a few counts. The US unemployment rate is not really 3.8%. It is calculated based on how many people are actively looking for work. The rate will trend downward till 2023 as many Baby Boomers stop looking for work. However, the 21.5% is also incorrect because that figure takes in all people who are not working. Many of those people don’t want to work, for example, someone taking care of a spouse or parent.
The inflation rate is also nonsense and is easily 6% as you say.
But so what? Obama was celebrated when his unemployment and inflation rates were low. So suck it up and tell us how much you love the Donald.
Something very wrong about the figures given on that site.
Pop U.S. ~326,000,000
~15%>65 y.o. + ~ 22% <18 y.o = ~120,500,000
This leaves ~ 206,000,000 eligible for work.
If ~102,000,000 are "not in the labor force" this means an actual rate of greater than 45% (not 21%).
Somebody is wrong or details are omitted ….. details matter.
And if inflation was calculated as it was in 1980 it would be 10%……. I'd notice something that large, wouldn't you?
326,000,000 people in the USA (~)
155,474,000 people are working (part + full) or 47.4% of total population
73,000,000 Americans are aged 0-17
46,000,000 Americans are 65+
326,000,000 – 73,000,000 – 46,000,000 = 207,000,000
155,474,000 / 207,000,000 *100 = 75.1%
So in theory, the maximum labor participation rate you could have in the USA is 75%. However, many people choose not to work. They may stay at home and raise children, they may volunteer, they may be handi-capped or mentally incompetent. This reduces the LPR to about 63%.
326,000,000 – 155,474,000 – 73,000,000 – 46,000,000 = 51,526,000 people who are 17-64 and not working or looking to work (16%) (~) not that far off of 21%. And the statistics available are maddening. Children stats go from 0-17. Labor stats go from 16+. There are many people 65+ still working. How do you count a 62 year old who has retired – they aren’t 65+ but they aren’t working / looking for work.
The unemployment rate will have a natural downward tendency for another 5-8 years because there are more people in the 60-65 age range than in the 10-15 range. More likely the 60-65 are leaving the job market versus the 10-15 who are about to enter. This will change starting in about 2023 and then we can argue about who will pay for all those unfunded government pensions (hint, not the 10-15 group).
Who would have guessed that the PhDs in economics are all wrong and some short weenied communist on SDA is right about the US economy. Makes you wonder why governments everywhere, other than Venezuela hire economists.

Kim Jong Un Criticized For Meeting With Nation That Has Killed 60 Million Babies
WORLD—North Korean President Kim Jong Un came under intense scrutiny this week after meeting with a barbaric nation that has killed over 60 million of its young since legalizing abortion in 1973.
Political commentators agreed that by meeting with the nation of savages that abort hundreds of thousands of their young each and every year, Kim Jong Un appeared to be legitimizing the backwards, depraved nation of America.
“Just picture Kim Jong Un up there shaking hands with Hilter,” one pundit said. “That’s basically what this amounts to, when you consider that he’s meeting with a country that his killed over 60 million babies since Roe v. Wade. I’m just not sure this kind of a meeting represents good optics for the North Koreans.”
“What kind of message does this send to the unborn children in America? It’s not a good look for him to be glossing over these kinds of atrocities just for a few empty promises from the U.S.,” another commentator said.
Kim Jong Un also came under heavy fire for meeting with America due to the Western country’s reckless stockpiling of thousands of nuclear weapons.

“NMMA Canada submits tariff concerns regarding U.S. boats
June 14, 2018
BY NMMA CANADA
National Marine Manufacturers Association Canada has made an official submission to the Government of Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outlining the association’s specific concerns regarding retaliatory tariffs.
NMMA Canada is urging the recreational boating industry to contact elected officials on this important matter.
Industry businesses can write the Prime Minister directly at the following address:…”
http://boatingindustry.com/news/2018/06/14/nmma-canada-submits-tariff-concerns-regarding-u-s-boats/
…-
>>> “Subject: Notice of intent to impose countermeasures action against the United States in response to tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum products ”
“These tariffs would have a significant impact on middle-class communities across Canada as prices of boats are expected to increase by more than 25%, affecting middle-class employees who depend on the industry for jobs.
Moreover, when reviewing the list of proposed Canadian countermeasures closely, boats appear to be the only recreational product listed. ”
“NMMA is extremely concerned by some of the Government of Canada’s proposed countermeasures in response to the United States’ (U.S.) imposition of tariffs on imports of certain steel and aluminum products from Canada. While the industry understands the government’s need to respond to these unfair tariffs being imposed by the U.S., a number of the proposed countermeasures regarding recreational boats, if implemented, will have a significant negative impact on our industry. Tariffs pertaining to the following goods are of particular concern to NMMA Canada:
1. 8901.10 Inflatable boats 2. 8903.91 Sailboats, with or without auxiliary motor 3. 8903.92 Motorboats, other than outboard motorboats 4. 8903.99.90 Outboard motorboats, other vessels for pleasure or sports
These proposed countermeasures will severely impact the flow of manufactured boats across our border and will result in prohibitive price increases to Canadian consumers.
In 2017, more than 100,000 new and pre-owned boats were sold in Canada. Of those, more than 65% were imported from the U.S.
While NMMA would like to see these tariffs benefit Canadian manufacturers, the fact is that there are simply not enough domestic boat manufacturers to supply the Canadian market, and U.S. imports are critical to ensure the ongoing competitiveness of the recreational boating sector in Canada.
As a result of the proposed countermeasures on recreational boating goods, a $50,000 pontoon boat purchased after July 1 will now cost a minimum of $65,000.
Indeed, the greatest impact of maintaining the four proposed tariffs on recreational boats will be mostly felt by middle-class Canadians. Of the more than 43% of Canadian adults who enjoy boating each year, nearly 60% of them have an average household income of under $100,000.
In addition, boaters in Canada spend about $7.35 billion each year when they are on boating trips.
These tariffs would have a significant impact on middle-class communities across Canada as prices of boats are expected to increase by more than 25%, affecting middle-class employees who depend on the industry for jobs.
Moreover, when reviewing the list of proposed Canadian countermeasures closely, boats appear to be the only recreational product listed. Our members view this as an unfair and unjustified hit on the recreational boating sector, which unnecessarily targets our industry. “
Who cares? Too many tears from people with too much money.
now that is funny. when there are no more people with money who will pay for your welfare?
I work, and draw CPP and OAS. I grew up with boats. If I wanted a boat I would buy one. I just can’t handle the drone of rich people whining about how poor they are.
I don’t quite get how retaliation against the US seems to result in Canadians paying more for everything. We already pay more for dairy. Now it’s boats. None of this will have substantial impact on Americans. Seems like a loser strategy.

Stop sweetheart deals by scrapping the Green Energy Act.
The Conservatives made some other promises too but what was interesting about dropping the carbon tax etc. was the lack of agonising over the science, the planet, polar bears, the Great Barrier Reef or anything else.
While the Trump administration recently hired a climate agoniser to head NASA, and the head of the EPA hasn’t moved against the endangerment finding on CO2, Ontario voters in a record turnout voted to make global warming a non-problem by forgetting about it, and getting on with their lives.”
