          But think about your comment on Trudeau and Harper getting into power “with a minority of support”. While technically that is true, in reality they each garnered more votes than the next party so they won. If you get enough of a lead you form a majority. That is how our system works. First past the post. Now imagine if we had proportional representation. The Liberals and NDP would form the first government with a massive majority. Slowly, these 2 parties would splinter into several sub-parties like NDP-north and Liberal Democrats. Eventually you have one or two core parties looking for small sub-groups to form a coalition, each sub-group getting special promises for siding with the “elected” government. The people running the government can stay in power forever, shifting their alliances to always keep themselves in power.

          I think first past the post is a pretty good system. I’m not happy that Trudeau is ruining our country on 39% of the popular vote. But I know that in the next election a conservative can form a majority with 40% and then “my” government can take its turn at ruining our country.

    The Canadian mainstream media is so inept, it is irrelevant on both looming major economic disasters (energy and manufacturing losses under the Trudeau Liberals.)

    P.M. Justin Trudeau will have permanently damaged the Canadian economy, if Ontario’s auto industry goes south. A recession that will shake confidence in Canada from coast to coast and among investors for decades would result.

    Replacing a $100 billion industry, in a resultant recession, could take the rest of the 21st Century, if then.

    Western Canada, would have to go to a sovereignty-association arrangement to retain it’s standard of living and economy. Federal balance of transfer payments to subsidize the failing eastern Canadian economy and it’s recession would cripple us, otherwise.

    The UAW in Canada stepped up its lobby of the Harper government and Harper was forced to follow suit under a threat of, if you don’t offer a bailout we will leave. Obama was prepared to play that card.
    The Americans have been pissed for years at how the Auto Pact played out. Canada has produced far more cars than were ever anticipated when the agreement was signed over 50 years ago.
    The Harper government was rewarded by the auto industry once it got the bailout by leaving mostly to Mexico.
    Now we’re faced with the Americans again targeting the auto industry. This time they may succeed as we have little to offer.
    The industry flourished in Ontario when labor was competitive and power (hydro as they call it) was cheap.

Trudeau had a golden opportunity to break up the dairy cartel, giving Canadian much need relief from exorbitant prices on dairy products.         When the energy industry in Western Canada took off, through no help from the east, it was all about how the Canadian petro $ was killing eastern jobs. When oil hit the tank and jobs did not revive in the east there was no
        5 o’clock CBC news item on why. Western Canada has been a cash cow for the east since before Confederation. Methodology for extracting this cash has many avenues. Most Canadians have no idea and the accounting is not structured to provide that info easily.

        Many Canadians can take comfort at ‘striking back’ at Trump by boycotting American products. Laughable when you consider it is Canadian politicos who have sacrificed the needed economic diversification for vote getting social programs the country could not afford. As grown ups we accepted the bribes and carry much of the blame. Canada faces a dire debt situation and the Americans know that. Canada has to settle and will.

  10. Here in Minneapolis Minnesota USA, just 200 miles south of the Manitoba border, I bought a half gallon of milk today.

    Half gallon of Whole Milk $1.24 at Target. Large eggs were $1.39 / dozen.
    Tomorrow Hy Vee Grocery Store is having a two day only sale, Half gallon for $0.69 (June is dairy month special).
    Cub Foods has full Gallons of milk on sale 2 for $4.00 this week. I think they were $2.42 each usually. Eggs were $1.79 / dozen.

    Last year after the bird flu decimated about forty chicken and turkey farms in Minnesota, I think I paid $3.50 / dozen for eggs at the height of the egg shortage.

      Cub foods has a big sale 8 oz. shredded everyday essentials store brand cheese at 3/$5.00. Same price that they had for a week every month this year.
      Hy Vee has 8 oz. shredded Kraft cheese at 5/$10.00 (coupon, must buy five, limit five).
      Target had their store brand on sale at $2.17 for 8 oz. sliced cheese.

  13. My problem with the “boycott American products” thing is that it supports Trudeau’s negotiating incompetence and lack of diplomacy in angering Trump. We need to shift focus to the damage to the economy being done by Liberals. They are ruining the country in more ways than one. Unfortunately, in this case, this grand show of patriotism and “support for Canada” is just rewarding incompetence.

    1. Further to my June 15, 2018 at 8:08 am post: Bill C-48 The Tanker Moratorium Act is in the Senate right now. This “ban” has nothing to do with tankers. It has more to do with what goes into them. The usual suspects “dirty oil”, are being added to a growing list of banned products notably most produced in the western prairie provinces. Specifically Alberta. Condensates, those niggly higher end hydrocarbons like ethane, pentane, propane are stripped out from natural gas to produce “dry gas” shipped down a pipe to your furnace & other gas appliances.

      Bill C-48 seeks to “strip” those commodities from the desirable list to the banned list, along with crude oil, bitumen & dillbit (a form of condensate), of which dillbit is recycled back to the shipper to form another load. It’s a process, like cars shipped across the border to “add value” to the final product you pay such high prices for in the show room.

      To read that J. Kenny & A. Scheer have publicly voiced their support for continued Ontario/Quebec raping us over dairy products, never mind our branch plant Chicom Inc., less than quality controlled steel & aluminum “flow through” practices to the US & manipulation of CDN currency to achieve some sort of “competitive” advantage over US wages, they SUPPORT the LPOC & central Kontrol’s ongoing legislative destruction of the Alberta economy by doing so on the purchase (& side lining) of Trans Mountain & Bill C-48.

      By blocking what’s shipped in tankers (the Bill does not block tankers in the least from showing up on the west coast) they do the US’s & globalist bidding on Canadian produced hydrocarbons.

      I purchased an Hudson’s Bay flag today. I’ll be flying it on “Canada Day” & will surely get a few puzzled stares for doing so. Then I’m headed out to Princess Auto later, to buy a cutting torch.

  19. Recall the meeting(s) Junior had with Obama prior to and immediately after Trump won. I thought at the time this is really stupid to be kicking sand in Trumps face . What a way to start his term in office with Canada, unless of course Obama convinced him Trump would be impeached and removed from office. Given the current state of the FBI/DOJ as revealed lately it is not too far fetched.

    I was wondering if this was Junior’s (or Butts) plan all along , to side with the Obama holdovers expecting Trump to be impeached and removed from office and then NAFTA would carry on with no changes.

    Evidence of their continued power is when Rosanne Barr was dismissed from her show recently for her tweets disparaging Valerie Jarret. We don’t hear about what else they are doing. The Press are not talking unless it is to criticize President Trump.

    This is sad really, the Americans are usually very patriotic. The Press have no shame, no remorse. Kudos to FOX NEWS and their investigative reporting.
