    1. And as proof, if you swapped all those 6 figure “earners” for actual burger flippers, the net result in terms of academic excellence (or lack thereof) would be unchanged.

Replace all Liberal arts colleges with Library cards!

    1. Yeah WTF? I don’t know if you can libel a party but if I’m in the California GOP I’m looking at revenge of some sort.

  1. Oh come on! A mere 93 Diversity staffers for a student population of some 44,000? Why, that’s only 473:1.
I feel sorry for all the snowflakes who don’t get one-on-one with their Diversity counselor. How will all the LGBTQWERTYs cope? You want fries with that?

  2. So … with ALL these “specialists” in diversity … you’d think they might allow ONE conservative speaker, Professor, or lecturer on campus? You think they might actually DEMAND that the students show … tolerance … if not intellectual openness … to conservative thought?

  3. (I wrote the following response to the article.)

Someone is laughing all the way to the bank and it sure ain’t the students of the University of Michigan.

Here is essentially what university and college is all about:
Give us some of your money and we promise, WE PROMISE, that your life will be beautiful and happy and successful and YOU will be highly regarded as intelligent and educated. We PROMISE. Just sign here and give us the money. We promise!

  4. So, I want to get this right….is it pretend work in a make-believe job, or make-believe work in a pretend job?

  5. Nazi Germany also hired full time employees for the same purpose. They were titled Gestapo

  6. All successful systems attract parasites. When they’re government funded, the potential is limitless.

  7. Once upon a time, the super-smart elite were dismayed that the “right people” were under-represented in the world of advanced degrees. To remedy this, advanced degrees were created in such rigorous disciplines as Feminist Studies and Trans Theory and what have you. Well, that resulted in a glut of “right people” armed with fancy, albeit utterly useless, advanced degrees. Sorry, no jobs to be found in the real word… No worries ’cause we’re from academe and we’re here to help! So this is why there has been an explosion in the number of administrative jobs in academe….it was either create jobs for these morons or expose the worthlessness of these degrees (which in turn would lead to fewer tuition-paying bodies pursuing said degrees.) I promise you that all, or nearly all, of these 100 folks’ degrees are from one of those “-ism” programs in your average Humanities Department.

  8. Tack their salaries onto your student loans little snowflakes! I have been trying to get the idea that every new regulation imposed on universities raises their costs because you have to hire administrators to meet the regulations. So I don’t know how much of these sky high tuitions goes to regulation, but it’s probably a fair bit of that lifetime of debt.

  9. Well, I just happened to be down in Minneapolis last weekend to watch some College ball with a friend who has a son that pitches for Canisius College (Buffalo).

I can tell you I am unsurprised. Parents who just wanted to meet up with their kids were bum-rushed out of their by the University of Minnesota stadium-Nazis like they were misbehaving children. It did not look good on them. I heard several parents comment on the rude treatment.

Smokers are treated with special disdain. Parents travelled thousands of miles to watch the tourney and were told that if they exited the stadium for a puff they would not be allowed back in. Not only that. The smoking-Nazi berated my buddy because he hadn’t gone across the street to light up. The corner he dared to smoke on was outside the Stadium but still on “Campus”.

    These are not nice people.

  10. I’ve seen much the same thing at my university alma mater. I received my B. Sc. in 1977 and received my doctorate in 2000. During that time, whenever I returned as a student, I encountered an increasing amount of bureaucracy, much of it later made worse by burying it under political correctness or whatever the prevailing social ideology was at the time.

My final convocation was, in many ways, a liberation as I was no longer required to put up with that idiocy. And that place wondered why I stopped donating money…..

By the way, if you think the student council you had to deal with as an undergrad was terrible, wait until you start grad studies. Politics is all that the grad student associations I’ve dealt with are interested in.

  11. I took a new employee from our company to a three day training program being held at the Universty of Michigan’s conference Center. The hotel attached is owned and operated by the University.

When I went to leave I asked the staff to transfer the room charges of our new employee to my credit card. The trainee and I left to travel back home.

I told the employee I had transferred the charges for his room to my card.

A week later the employee told me they had left the charges on his card. We had been double charged.

I made phone calls then emails to the manager of the hotel and never received a reply.

    They never reversed the charges.

So do not underestimate the University of Michigan on anything.

Enforcers ? Thieves ? I am sure it is just the tip of the iceberg

  12. This is what happens when the people who are hired to serve, think they are in charge.

  13. Some whitebread Midwesterner named Bob Sellers earns almost US$400K to make sure there are less whitebread Midwesterners employed at the Uni? I will underbid him: $380K…and I’ll work weekends too.
