Well, to be fair, this statement was made seven years ago. But I think it’s illuminating to see how the NDP and its leader are willing to protect and support one of their own while Ford didn’t hesitate to dump Tanya Granic Allen as a candidate in Mississauga for a statement she made several years ago that was not very “PC” (in the left wing sense of that acronym). Ford will likely pay for this with a marked drop in enthusiasm among conservative voters who see the issues in Ontario and the country generally as going well beyond fiscal management and economic policy, while dippers will feel ever more comfortable in their radical positions knowing they’ve a safe home in the NDP.
Ford is failing because he can’t articulate a platform. Amputating Tanya was the right thing to do and should have been done a while ago. Social conservatives need to be removed from politics.
