And, then, there are the Ig Nobel Prizes, which are dedicated to research of dubious purpose, using questionable methods. However, with the Ig Nobels, there is frequently some logic behind the apparent foolishness.
I’ve heard about WRD as well, though I’m not as familiar with it. Many years ago, a book consisting of selected JIR articles was published. I found a copy of it in a bookstore remaindered bin and bought it. There was stuff in it that was laugh-out-loud funny.
Similarly, the book A Random Walk Through Science, published some 40 years ago, had material similar to JIR in it.
Molding the people one false study at a time and the climate change fraud is rife with false studies.
Simply put … “statistics” is NOT science. But we have become conditioned to believe that it is. Every single day, we hear the media announce a new “study” that is nothing more than a hypothetical statistical extrapolation … presented as scientific TRUTH. It is No such thing. Which is why the “study” which indicated “coffee causes heart attacks” is soon reversed by a “study” which verifies that “coffee extends lifespans”. This is all statistical nonsense. These studies prove NOTHING. They may hint at something … but they prove nothing.
Climate science has made this statistical theatre into high art. Even to the point of creating “models” to fabricate fraudulent statistics. We are graduating far too many computer modelers and environmental studies majors … and not enough REAL scientists. I blame our failing public education system and greedy colleges who would rather expand their undergraduate “customers” than improve academics.
“Simply put … “statistics” is NOT science.” Exactly. My statistics prof told us in our first class that one can prove the exact opposite results and point of view using the same set of data. Then he went on to elaborate.
It reminds me of all the dire warnings about speed limits on highways being raised based on one BS study. After many states did multiple studies after implementing speed limit raises, they found no difference in accidents or fatalities.
Governments lie so they can control the populace. Canadian governments on many levels are as bad as any totalitarian state when it comes to BS. and the MSM is complicit.
Thank GOD this was a “report” and not a “study”, otherwise we would be heading for the infinity loop.
