I’m skeptical of cryptocurrencies – I feel like they are a honeypot for a “life hack”.
Just think about it – the history of every transaction tracked for all time: that is a government taxman’s holy grail.
Sure, right now everyone THINKS their transactions are guaranteed to be anonymous forever (because they currently are) – but all that has to happen is for the government to mandate that no transactions are legal unless cleared with a valid social insurance number attached to it (OR, social security number, world government id number – let you imaginations run wild if you want) – PLUS – a mandated move to 100% digital currencies, and now you can’t buy or sell without government records, control and oversight.
One scenario that could drive this could be the lack of environmental sustainability of the whole transaction clearing process (it just requires too much energy/electricity and demand is growing too fast). Eventually “someone” will come up with a “shortcut” that will be hailed as the “solution” to the lack of sustainability. Unfortunately, it will be a process/a mathematical algorithm that will make the entire scheme a LITTLE bit less secure, but way more efficient/business-friendly – and in exchange for giving up that little bit of security, the majority of the population will be convinced that it just makes sense to let the government in on the action to protect everyone (you can’t keep the taxman separate from his revenue source forever). Other scenarios could include incentivizing the adoption of a national or global cryptocurrency through the distribution of a newly-minted minimum guaranteed income, or attempts to stop terror and/or drug-related money laundering.
Of course – I’m not an expert on this stuff – so I’d be interested in contrarian views – but these are thoughts I’ve had late at night…

Except, all their changes point to one thing – lowering previously measured temperatures to show cooler weather in the past, and raising more recent temperatures to show warming in the recent present.
