While I won’t dispute that cold weather is a far more effective killer than hot weather, the type of dodgy statistics they use here are identical to what catastrophic global warming alarmists use. Might, maybe, perhaps.
I think promoting a policy that ensures reliable, affordable energy vs. subsidizing intermittent, expensive energy (because of a fear of slightly warmer temps) can be made without using the same drama stats as CAGW alarmists.
I think I will keep my wood-fired fireplace in my family room, after all. Those gas-fired types – the ones that you have no control over gas delivery to feed, may not be there if/when it cools off due to maybe globul whatever!

The ever-increasing cost of utilities due to government climate-change policies routinely results in the deaths of many, many old-age pensioners in the wintertime. The victims generally have a small fixed income and are petrified of keeping the heat and lights on for fear – well-justified fear – that they’ll receive sky-high energy bills. Weather like the British Isles have been experiencing lately only spikes the mortality rate that much higher.
Through save-the-earth, alternative-energy policies, their own government is effectively killing them.
Yet the Brits are always quick to sniff at the “murderous gun culture” of the US.

I’ll betcha we would have a top-notch public health care system both here and in the UK if politicians, pro athletes, CEO’s, celebrities, etc, and their families, were treated in long lines EXACTLY like the rest of us peons. There is no change because the people controlling the system don’t really give a shit about us. Just between the unions and bureaucrats alone, efficiency is negotiated right out of the equation, instead, they gorge at the public trough.

As I have been screaming (back) at the warmist media … reports of a new CA drought are greatly exaggerated. There is no “daily” or “weekly” “normal” for a CA winter. Snows come early, snows come late. Snows come heavy, snows come light. Snows come many, snows come sparse. The ONLY statistic that matters in CA is the FULL winter season. The FULL rainy season.
