Financial Post, Feb. 9th – The consequential upset from the proposed new legislation will continue to disrupt and erode the regulatory climate in Canada while reducing the pre-eminence of the regulatory powers of the NEB or the new, proposed CER. These regulatory changes will continue to pose fundamental uncertainties and will make even more problematic effective and efficient determinations of energy projects judged to be in the national interest.
New York Times, Feb. 10th – The Trump administration has adopted new limits on the use of “guidance documents” that federal agencies have issued on almost every conceivable subject, an action that could have sweeping implications for the government’s ability to sue companies accused of violations.

Green theocracy is now the dominant feature of progressive politics. Education, health care, entitlements, fiscal bankruptcy, now in typical advanced socialist decline are all but ignored as far as meaningful debate and political attention. Their socialist premise and root cause of decline is accepted as politically untouchable even to the so called right. Focusing on the nonexistent problem of CAGW and the healing powers of the omniscient state to ward off perceived disaster through de-industrialization disguised as planetary climate salvation is the ultimate political virtue signalling. Decarbonization as a goal is de-industrialization unless practical alternatives exist and are considered acceptable which there aren’t or they are not. In Canada, this is pure virtue signalling as the nation is a net carbon sink with electrical generation 81% non-emitting. Every Canadian barrel of Oil or MCF of gas left in the ground will be replaced from elsewhere to feed international markets and yet it is the unwritten policy of the LPC, and written policies of the NDP and Greens to do so. Prosperity of future Canadians is being sacrificed at the alter of political pimping of green theocracy.
Good to see Rachel Brand issuing this on Trump’s behalf and leaving the DOJ on good terms. Trump has achieved a lot in the past year (is it really just over a year since he fired Sally Yates?!) Hopefully Brand’s replacement is someone tough and ready to nip at Rosenstein’s heels. Ok, I’m hoping Trey Gowdy.

Confederation is broke. Alberta should leave Canada. Full stop.
For clarity, let me state that I lived for 20 yrs in Alberta, still have family and friends there AND used to support separation for the west, myself. That was, of course, until the fake Reform Movement bullshitted many into believing that the East gave a rat’s ass about any western concerns. Ha, that and a taste of federal power is ALL it took to squelch any real talk of Alberta leaving for many years.
The stark reality that everybody seems to ignore NOW is that since then, Alberta has become almost as leftarded as the rest of the country. Edmonton itself has been ‘leftcentric’ for decades now. Calgary has an apparent Jew-hating Muslim as mayor. You ACTUALLY VOTED IN a provincial NDP government, for chrissakes!
Separating will do very little to stop the cancer of liberal/socialist ideology you are already infested with, but at least your hard-earned cash would be stolen and then wasted by fellow Albertans instead of Ontarians. So there’s that.
Canadian Observer; Pretty much agree. I do not believe the Reform Movement was BS to begin with. It was an honest effort to involve citizens in government and force accountability on decision making to the local level. I started to lose faith when Manning moved east and my split came when Harper returned to the top down methods of the PC Party that we had replaced.
Ultimately Reform failed to keep power in the grass roots and failed to evolve a evolve a conservative fiscal policy that could be communicated to citizens. The financial literacy of Canadians is even poorer now than 20 years ago. If financial decision making was the bedrock of government policy the subjectivism of progressives could be successfully countered. Financial literacy teaches critical thinking. Many people on the right and the left do not want that accountability. They feed themselves through maintaining that ignorance.

Absolutely nailed it!
.
Trump is marching the USA toward a greater degree of personal freedom and prosperity.
Trudeau is goose-stepping Canadians into a collective snake pit of socialism, poverty, and far fewer personal liberties.
Why do Candians vote as they do?

“I do not believe the Reform Movement was BS to begin with.”
Nor did I, wanted to make that clear, sounds like we both lost faith about the same time. As Jamie already pointed out, the rest of your post is depressingly true.
The Reform Party lost it when they moved the headquarters and all operations to Calgary. It went from grassroots to top down approach long before it had any real seat to speak of.
“Trump is marching the USA toward a greater degree of personal freedom and prosperity.”
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA that’s a fantasy. He’s asking for tons more spending, is pushing for a bigger police/surveillance state, and wants to erect walls to keep out dirty brown people and their foreign goods. Canada is still better off.
