  1. She’s just like us and Justin – middle class. Just another Elitist from Quebec. (Justin should like and respect her like he respects her father).

  2. Why has politics in Canada become hereditary? Of course, all the Liberals thinks she is simply marvelous. I’m sorry ladies, but Wynne will make mincemeat of either of you.

  3. I heard her on the radio waffling about this. She believes in carbon money theft; it’s like the, what’s-his-name, the last guy, who just wanted to do it different.

  4. “I’m not familiar with the other candidates, …”
Then get familiar… and if you have a shred of common scene and a functioning bullshit detector vote Ford.

  5. “People are living in energy poverty, people have to choose between payments on their Bentleys and a$$hole bleaching appointments”

  6. Let’s make that: “People are living in energy poverty, people have to choose between not buying hockey equipment or not going out to dinner with their families.”
Sobey’s has a special on cake though.

  7. she was not against it until a survey was done and voters showed her the error of here ways.

  8. I previously suggested conservatives vote for an empty green basket. Maybe we got the color wrong.

  9. Gee, considering her upbringing, I was expecting something different.
And here’s Ford, answering a question from CTV News:
CTV: What about climate change – do you believe in it?
FORD: Oh absolutely! I’m not a denier.
And when he was asked about the size of Ontario’s government, he replied that there would be no cuts. So the two things that are killing this province – energy rates and enviro-regulations based on the AGW apocalypse hoax, and a gross excess of useless bureaucrats creating, promoting and enforcing the aforementioned bullshit – apparently aren’t much of a problem in Ford’s eyes. And I can’t see him bringing up the topic of the public debt either.
I am a total cynic when it comes to every politician. I think it’s the safest default position. I wish everyone would leave the cheering and the pom-pom shaking until after one of them actually accomplished something worthwhile.
I’ll be voting Libertarian. And I’m not cheering about it.

  10. I have made my feelings clear on having another professional Mulroney trough-dweller in any level of government. Cripes, she is such an out-of-touch rich bitch that being “middle-class” to her IS “poverty”. Does she even comprehend that the real decisions truly poor families have to make is more like paying the heating bill vs basic food and clothing? I seriously doubt it.
Is she a staunch opponent of political correctness?
Does she accept the fact that our entire mainstream media is mainly a liberal cabal, and thus her enemy?
Will she actually fight for Ontario industry and small businesses?
Unless the answer to all those questions is a resounding YES, you would still just be voting for a Liberal!

  11. She’s not ready. She’ll never be ready.
I recall the euphoria we conservatives felt when her father formed government in ’84. This was going to be our turn to show our mettle after 16 years of PET.
Over the subsequent 8 year we came to realize her father was just another fwenchman from quebek. A Power Corp company man. Same old same old.

  12. That’s ok. Shows flexibility. Personally, I have more confidence in her abilities than Justin’s.

  13. I don’t have a dog in this fight but Ford is showing good sense by not taking the bait over AGW and job cuts in the government. Both issues are vote killers.
Harper played AGW by ignoring it. The job cuts issue has already cost the Ontario PC’s one election.
Who cares what he says to a journalist. He’s talking past them.

  14. And here’s Ford, answering a question from CTV News:
CTV: What about climate change – do you believe in it?
FORD: Oh absolutely! I’m not a denier.
I believe in climate change. Just look back over the last 12 thousand years and the climate changed considerably. On the other hand AGW, man made climate change, that is clearly a scam.

  15. He has come out against a carbon tax. I am ok with people believing in climate change . . . but I am opposed to trying to remedy the situation with a carbon tax. And, the unions pilloried Hudak last time for promising to downsize the public service. It is good not to get them on your back. I guess they are looking for Ford’s vulnerabilities and he is not giving them an opening. He has also rejected comparisons with Trump. I gather he is very personable and a lot of people like him. I enjoyed the TVO “Political Blind Date” with Ford and Jazmeet (sp?). People coming out of the woodwork to say hello to Ford. Unfortunately, some people will reject him just by virtue of his being a populist candidate. It’s a class thing.

  16. Listened to a Ford campaign speech on the weekend and he clearly stated no carbon tax under his watch. Global climate change? Ya, well the weather changes in my part of the world daily! As my old coffee buddy sagely told me one day, ‘Any idiot has to know there is climate change otherwise we would be under 500′ of ice!’ The issue has always been how much climate change is due to mankind.
Comical how many jump on the Mulroney bandwagon when it appears she can deliver Ontario from the clutches of the progressives. The idea that she might be a progressive as well means nothing. I might be wrong but to me she represents the same group think in eastern Canada that have been exploiting the West for 100’s of years. She will behave the same way her father did. It was for those reasons we started the Reform movement. That effort has long been sabotaged by eastern conservatives who I do not support.

  17. Maybe he’s lying to get elected. That’s what is needed. A politician who will make massive cuts to the civil service, after lying that he wouldn’t. A politician who will repudiate the global warming scam after lying that he believes in it.
Maybe your protest vote cast to be ignored with a very small Libertarian total would have better effect contributing to getting Dough Ford close enough to scare the mainstream careerist politicians and encouraging other voters to come out in the open – “preference cascade.”

  18. “I recall the euphoria we conservatives felt when her father formed government in ’84. This was going to be our turn to show our mettle after 16 years of PET.

Exactly. I felt the same at the time. The F-18 service contract going to Quebec instead of low bidder Winnipeg is what woke me up to the colonialism of the Laurentian Elite’s view of western Canada, and I fear she is no different.
People having to choose between food and keeping warm is more like what AGW/Climate Change criminals want.
In my opinion Rob Ford is closest to the everyday family, but may have the highest hills of Liberal lies to climb.
Lone Ranger, hopefully Ford actually said that in regards to climate change, “…that is clearly a scam”.

  19. And, based on the long sorry history of Ontario politicians from all parties, maybe not.
Besides, if saying one thing now and doing the other later on is Ford’s plan, then he’s simply dishonest. Like Dildo McDinky was.

  20. Re Mulroney’s tweets about beer sales in grocery stores she is misinformed; she mentions about 450 grocery stores licensed, the figure trumped by Wynne when she announced her “new” program. The Toronto media bought this line from Wynne, so maybe Mulroney can be excused for repeating it.
In fact selected grocery stores have sold beer wine and liquor since mid 1960s, there are about 250 of these stores throughout the province. Most are in rural areas but Ottawa has at least 8 of these. Wynne and the Liberals downplay their existence because the LCBO union is against them.
There are none in Toronto, but one can find one within 50 miles. Bottom line is Ont extends beyond Mississauga Road
but a number of politicians don’t realize it. And it is highly unlikely Mulroney has ever shopped for a 24 in a convenience store.

  21. All the politicians on offer are beginning to look monotonously alike.
I’m afraid many Ontarians, starved for any real alternatives, are likely to pass on the next election entirely.

  22. Carloline has a long and rich relationship with the riding of York-Simcoe.
She’s flown over it many times on private flights.

  23. For god’s sake Caroline!!!! Do it the way Justin or Brian or Sophie or Mila would do it!! Buy the hockey equipment on the way home AFTER you have dined in the restaurant.
Don’t forget to wear simple pearls that match your sneakers.
    BCer

  25. ” selected” — Really, if you do not already know where you can buy booze in a grocery, you are unlike to find a place. None in Toronto?? That is pretty ridiculous. I suspect that the ONLY reason there are some in Ottawa is because you can easily drive across the river and get booze in convenience stores in Quebec. This initiative is long overdue.

  26. Let’s analyze this.
The woman is a daughter of a millionaire. Could also be that her wealth is equal to the airhead. Neither made their riches. That is not to say that they did not make their own money.
To be clear there is nothing wrong with being wealthy and rich.
There is some depravity to complain about other being rich and excepting self and being virtuous that they did not invest in oil, (a rhetorical device).
    This is Canadian socialist aristocracy.
They, of necessity, have to talk stupid in hope that the “journalists” cover for them and the plebeians won’t notice. Of course they cover more for the socialists and socialist extremists than for the lesser socialists like what is Ontario’s progressive conservative oxymorons.
It is interesting to note that someone like Jordan Peterson is called all kind of right wing things when he is what could be called classical liberal.
Picked this from the www, “Classical liberalism is a political ideology and a branch of liberalism which advocates civil liberties and political freedom with representative democracy under the rule of law and emphasizes economic freedom.”
Very good characterization of what sounds like conservatives should be.
How is it then, that there is not one that has the guts to fearlessly stand up, in the same manner as Peterson, to speak with solid conviction of being confident of their position.
As it appears today, there are no conservatives or conservative politicians in Ontario and possibly in most of this country.
It is not because there are none, it is because of what will other people think of you syndrome, with a lot of help from the “journalists”
There is one in Alberta, the current leader of United conservatives, though even they could not call themselves simply conservatives. It remains to be seen how Jason Kenny will turn out, as of now he seems to be doing fine.
Heh, in family and friends gathering every once in a while your agent seem to be the only one with conservative perspective.
Never give up, the facts of life are conservative.

  27. Shortly after the Conservative win 1984 I attended a fundraising dinner at which Mulroney was the headline speaker. I will never forget him saying to the effect “If it wasn’t for Pierre Trudeau many of us in this room would be Liberal” I almost fell off my chair. Caroline is her father’s daughter. I read somewhere her and Justin are friends. It is a pretty small pool which needs fresh DNA or we wind up with political party dueling banjo’s as evidenced by our current PM.

  28. lindal
I mean what I say Ottawa Ont, not Quebec. A simple drive away from TO will bring you to lots of convenience stores selling beer and also gin, vodka wine whatever.
My point is TO politicians ignore this program, even though the Liberals under McGuinty expanded it. It is currently frozen because the unions oppose it, naturally. It is simply inaccurate for Wynne to trumpet as “new” something that has been around since 1962; there is no novelty to buying alcohol in convenience stores in Ont, many are very used to the idea.

  29. “How is it then, that there is not one that has the guts to fearlessly stand up, in the same manner as Peterson, to speak with solid conviction of being confident of their position.?
And that, my friend – gutlessness – is the REAL problem in this country.
From the grassroots to the top of the Peace Tower. The narratives, the positions, and the boundaries that get near universal acceptance in the public, the legislatures, and city halls, are designed and defined by a small cloister of string pullers from the media and the self-styled elite. And everyone meekly takes it.

  30. Ken,
I worked two elections for the late Harvey Andre, been in the campaign and mixed with people.
There is much to be written though I will only mention one or two.
While going knocking the doors, there was another guy, Andre and I. while driving to the district to knock, the guy asked of Andre if that was a forced position to give the contract to Quebec rather than Manitoba, after a short resistance to answer, he did admit that it was a forced political decision.
While mingling at the campaign quarters with all kinds of people, the general drift was that this would be the last chance they would vote for the current “conservatives” …….. and if you remember, it was.

  31. like I said in a previous post when her name popped up, if this dynasty elitist takes the brass ring, I will NOT be voting provincial conservatist.
    nice to see others agree.
Im leaning towards Ford, but need to hear more from him.
(if the media mandarins deign to allow it)

  32. Got this from Caroline today, at least she’s asking….
    Hi Caroline
    Thanks for asking.
“Allow” anybody in business to sell beer and liquor, like in NY State’s program.
Open it and get out of the way.
Also more importantly then opening up a few more beholding friends of the government with “allowing” them beer sales.
Cut the size of government and the restrictions placed upon doing business.
Do this on the provincial level.

Ontario is at the beginning of a dangerous slide towards becoming Venezuala, ( we’re the largest subsovereign debt in the history of mankind)
You’re unfortunately forced to do more than creating a few hundred more government rent seekers through beer and liquor sales.
    Kind regards
    Richard

  33. “I am open to allowing more grocery and convenience stores to sell beer and wine.”
Didn’t put herself out on any limb there, eh? That’s a loooonnnnnnnng way from what we really need: busting the monopoly that the big breweries and distillers have over liquor marketing and sales in this province.
Also, she didn’t touch any of your other points.

  34. Caroline is married to the head of Blackstone. She has never worked a day in her illustrious life.
She is NOT qualified to lead Ontario.

  35. Sorry I had to redact my email etc. and it confused the post.
To be clear I was responding to Caroline’s email, and I’ll probably voting for Doug Ford.
But at least “she asked” (ode to Kate’s blog header)

  36. Under the former Trudeau, energy poverty was a horrible thing because Saudi sheiks were the ones PROFITING at the expense of poor Canadians. However, self-imposed energy poverty under the current Trudeau is no problem … because homegrown “greens” are the ones PROFITING at the expense of poor Canadians.
Transferring wealth to OPEC – baaaaad
Transferring wealth to Canadian Greens – goooood .. baaa baaa baaa

  37. OK fine, so a family goes without their payday pizza night. Maybe she could shed some Justin tears. People care about this nuance?
Oh she’s too elitist. How comforting; but what about the working poor, who are the most vulnerable to carbon taxes?
The poorest have some public support, the working poor do not, indeed are being pushed into poverty by welfare taxation.
The working poor. No yet fully crushed by Justin’s “investments” in them. These are the real casualties of statism.
The ones the neo SJWs ditched years ago in their carbon tax quest and overlord ambitions (with some real nice perks too).
The ones who might actually show up to vote if you give them a reason to, which could help end the political power play.
Watch the Politically Correct Party of Ontario implode and eat its own; almost as bad a gong show as the McGuinty/Wynne debacles.
Yet another opportunity to save Ontariowe from itself self-sabotaged. Is that all we can expect from the PCPO in 2018?
Will you people please get your s**t together – for the good of the country? Don’t set us all up for a 2019 statist coronation.
We cannot and will not continue to pay for these reigns of error. Again for the good of the country, take notice.

  38. “… apparently aren’t much of a problem in Ford’s eyes. ”
He is the only candidate that will take the fight to Libranos. The other two will graciously lose in a dignified polite way. They will declare a moral victory (like the French) and leave the party elites intact.
Ford has a pretty decent record when it comes to respecting taxpayers and little patience for politically correct bullshit. He’ll clumsily play polite politician for now but I suspect that will not last long. Besides, he will shake up the libtards currently infesting the PogCon party elites. And finally if he was to become the next premier, leftists across the province would throw a temper tantrum that alone will be worth having him elected.
As for Ontario Libertarians? Meh, the party of dope and not much substance. Is Freedom party still running in provincial Ontario elections? They used to be the true libertarians (freedom of contract, property rights etc).
