I don’t understand.

Is this supposed to be bad?

The Liberal government has passed just half the number of bills as the Conservatives did in the same time period, with some key pieces of legislation — including the pot bill — not expected to become law until well into the new year.

Politicians, like children, should be seen but not heard.

  1. If the house of commons and cabinet went on a year long sabbatical would anybody notice? Its not like they are keeping tabs on the unelected (civil service) anyways.

  2. We need a legislature like they have in Texas. Only meets every second year and is limited to 140 days. The less time you give these fools to mess things up the better.

  3. All things considered, the less bills passes the better for the country.
Less messing with the lives of people, less damage to the economy.
Of course it all depends what are the bills that are passed.
The bill to free the weed inhalation is just propaganda and vote getting exercise, although the government should be agnostic in the case of weed smoking. Instead of letting the sticks fall where they may, so to say, they create a whole new bureaucracy to show increase in employment.
That is what government does when it passes bills.
It also let them do what they love to do most, collect taxes, a lot of taxes so the bureaucracy can devour more of the pot smokers money. Note how are the different governments haggling over who gets what.
In this case though it is just one more upmanship with the CeeBeeCee doing what they do, socialist government propaganda.

  4. Until fairly recently Montana’s legislature held elections every 2 years, met and passed whatever legislation that was deemed necessary and went away unless there was an emergency. For their trouble they got $50 per day for the limited time the legislature met.

  5. Well they’re not undoing Harper’s legacy.
    He doesn’t have one.
    Harper government = crazy dichotomy.
May be most competent government in Canadian history in some ways.
Is certainly biggest disappointment in Canadian history for this Conservative.
First real Conservative government in 50 years(hello Dief).
Beyond competent governance(which is certainly an unusual occurrence), Harper accomplished very little in stopping the Red Tide.
    Wasted days and wasted nights…..

  6. “Well they’re not undoing Harper’s legacy.
    He doesn’t have one.”
Oh yes he does . . .and Libs have been doing their best to undo it. Such a shame.

  7. Go ahead and tell us what a “real Conservative” is.
From what I’ve seen it’s someone who is willing to hand power over to socialists because of an ideal they know nothing about.
By all means define conservatism for us all so we can understand why we must be ruled by statists, progressives, socialists, thieves & liars.

  8. Good but we could do better:
Pay them nothing when they are in session and $100 per day when they are not. In the long run this would be much cheaper.

  9. Garbage.
The CPC Achieved many things – TFSAs, much lower taxes (which the LPC is having a tough time increasing – canadians under PMSH learned that lower taxes are a good thing), a complete 180 on foreign policy and attempted many others – public vetting of SCOC appointments, senate reform and on and on.
And Dief was quite red on many things – the Bill of Rights was a fiasco, He certainly didn’t do anything to limit the size of government or taxes. Fer Chrissake his lead advisor was Dalton Camp.

  10. “…so we can understand why we must be ruled by statists, progressives, socialists, thieves & liars.”
Ummm…it’s because they ARE thieves and liars.

  11. Unless Congress is passing a TAX CUT bill that will save my families resources … I hope they all go on vacation … or staycation in their own home district. Stay the hell out of the Capital Building. We don’t NEED a “Tranny-Rights Bill”

  12. Lance, In the future could you please provide a disclaimer that the link provided will lead to a CBC article.
I’d have never clicked on it had I known. I’d rather not contribute to driving up their traffic numbers.
    Thank you.

  13. there has never been a conservative government in Canada anywhere that has reduced the size or the cost of government. as member of the party for decades i was constantly disappointed in the fools that we allowed to run for office. nothing has improved and i will update my last estimate and say that 80% of freaking percent of Canadians are socialists. they will bury those of us who prefer freedom and small government. of course that is no longer possible. captcha……………….sauf anlieger

let’s ask your “glass half full” national broadcaster…
This appears to be the first time drugs have been

remember when justin repealed the racist harper
    government legislation that demanded accountability
for aboriginal canadians living on reserves?

No. Real garbage is someone who cared enough to go to a Reform Party Conference(to change the country don’t you know) and then say that TFSA’s are a good enough achievement for 8 years in power!
What a pathetic load of malarkey!
“Attempted”. Hahaha. Weasel word. Chinese for no win.
Harper’s boutique tax cuts are gone. Poof!
Love to hear your list of Harper’s Foreign Policy successes.
Love to see this coat of many achievements. Feel free to set your fingers free.
“canadians under PMSH learned that lower taxes are a good thing)” – wow, just wow. That must be why they voted for the guy promising to raise their taxes along with adding a bonus carbon tax. As if Canadians never thought of lower taxes before Harper. As if there wasn’t an earlier Trudeau. As if Liberals aren’t well known for their taxing proclivities. Please.
‘which the LPC is having a tough time increasing” – like all those cheques the Liberals are writing aren’t going to be cashed. Aren’t going to be covered by raising taxes.
    Blue Koolaid’s the best!

  16. Aside from the TFSA, that is a list of twaddle. Harper’s main focus after 2011 was to increase surveillance and criminalization of non-crimes like MJ and prostitution. He was terrible. Chretien and Martin did more to cut back government.

  17. Conservative government of Ralph Klein of Alberta cut the pay of civil servants, teachers and nurses, when he came to shut the gravy for the judges, the “journalists” stopped him.
He cut the spending, cut the deficit until there was no deficit, set the income tax to 10% and more.
Then when he was finished the idiot Stelmach somehow managed to be a premier and it went down to the toilet ever since, the socialist extremists that currently preside over the decline are just finishing the job.
Venezuela has more oil than Alberta and see what the socialist totalitarians accomplished.
This is where the socialist extremists of Alberta are heading.
    If you don’t think so.
    Just watch.

  18. The only people that complain to this day are paid by the government.
If you did not live here, you have no idea.

  19. I have lived from coast to coast and worked in every province in Canada and not for the government. captcha……….unsuitable
