I’m so laughing at the NFL.
Having lost or severely damaged their base of fans, Cam Newton does his best to alienate another demographic who might have supported the NFL players.
Forty years ago a white Cam Newton would have said, “It’s funny to hear a black man talk about quarter-backing.”
The female football fans I know, know as much or more about the game than I do. Those whose job it is, know as much as their male-counterparts. Those who play know as much as any NFL player. The only difference I’ve seen is the vociferous support of opinion (usually wrong) on the part of males.
The NFL deserves its fate and I hope it comes soon.
Update: Articles for dinosaurs.

Support the Lingerie League!
All over kneeling during the National Anthem!!
Why not just do like they did in Louisiana at the end of the Great Depression. Jimmie Davis, who was a prolific country singer, and served two terms as the governor of Louisiana, bought the rights to the song from the alleged composer, Paul Rice. It’s one of the two official songs of that state. They sang it at major gatherings. Davis died in 2000, he was 101 years old.

To be fair, a black man is a man. Men play football. Most women don’t even watch it. I get that we all have to pile on Cam and mock him for being sexist… but the comparison to quarterbacking isn’t really accurate.
She’s obviously a racist.
The comparison is apt.
Forty years ago the NFL GM’s thought that black men weren’t smart enough to play QB.
Which is, you know, exactly what Newton thought he was making a joke out of.
She looks pretty hot in some of the pix I’ve seen. He probably felt like saying something along those lines but went with the “funny” comment instead. The anthem protests p— me off 1,000x more frankly.
yaaaaawwwwwwnnnnn.
Uppity men! How dare they speak out, especially in non politically correct ways. And Black sports guys are the worst: Cam Newton on women, Michael Vic on Kaepernick’s hair, Charles Barley on, on, well on everything. Shameful. Wrongspeak of the worst kind. I mean what could be worse than hinting women really don’t belong in the locker room?
Sorry Lance, the NFL will take a hit but not because of Cam Newton’s mockery of women reporters. And as it declines, most, >95%, of women won’t miss it a bit …. though they did enjoy the social warmth of game watching parties.
P.S. Erin Andrews, nasally voice and all, has a new gig on Dancing With The Stars. NO ONE misses her sports casting.
To be fair Brad, you’re just pulling stuff out of your a$$. Women make up 45% of viewership of the NFL. Probably less after those comments.
I agree with Brad. I don’t know a single woman football fan, though obviously there are some. I think it is a “guy” thing — even more than most other sports. I prefer the occasional “sexist” comment to the endless insistence that there are no differences between men and women (unisex kids clothes, unisex bathrooms, firing of the Google guy, even same sex “marriage” are examples of this coercive political correctness.)
Newton treats all reporters with contempt. She should feel proud that she wasn’t singled out for being a woman and given kid glove treatment.
How is it that the LFL has a lot of very pretty women who look awesome in what is essentially a bikini with protective equipment? The LPGA also has a number of very beautiful women, women’s tennis–goes without saying, women’s beach volleyball, women’s field hockey (seriously check out the Dutch Olympic team for the sport),women’s MMA …But the WNBA contains a whole bunch of women who, my opinion only, I wouldn’t want to see in anything but a burka (with the face veil on).
A few days ago, this appeared in a newspaper article in the San Francisco Chronicle:
“The hard thing for progressive and thoughtful people who ‘have been turning away from football over concussions and off-field issues,” says Janice Hough, is ‘coping with the urge…to watch to defend civil rights.'”
See, it’s not so easy to be a progressive.
Exactly. Lance is out to lunch on this. But that is not to say newton was correct to say what he did.
I wish I could boycott the NFL over the “knee” protests but I stopped watching the NFL back when it became known as the No Fun League. It seemed at that time that the intent of the tackle was to kill or maim the opponent not stop his forward progress.
I don’t watch football, which comes from growing up in a house that was Dallas Cowboy crazy. That said, many of my feminine friends are huge football fans. Rabid actually, especially the Packers fans.
When you look at crowd shots at the games, there are tons of women there.
The assumption that women are such fragile little hothouse flowers that they’ll boycott the NFL over one QB from one team making an off-colour remark is a great deal more sexist than anything Newton said.
Women watch football? Not so much. My mother-in-law used to say during Grey Cup replays, “They’re doing it again.”
“many of my feminine friends are huge football fans. Rabid actually, especially the Packers fans.”
This tidbit goes a ways in explaining the Green Bay Packers fans:
“…. the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team based in the United States.” Yeah, Green Bay, WI actually owns the team. Playing in the same stadium since 1957. Top that factoid you billionaire owners.
When I lived in Dallas in the 1980s, the Cowboys played in a stadium which was enclosed except for a large hole in the top center. It was in Irving, TX …. the new stadium is now in Arlington.
The jest at that time was: Why is there a hole in the roof of the Cowboy’s stadium? Answer: So God can watch his team.
So yes, some Cowboy fans are avid/rabid …. but I’d say less today than in the 80’s although DFW has grown a lot so maybe it evens out.
So I understand that you’re not attracted to the ‘women’ of the WNBA. Well, they’re not attracted to you either …. most of them are lesbians. Least you think I’m making this up, I refer you to Slate, the on-line paper that is THE definitive Progressive voice:
http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2014/06/11/wnba_pride_women_s_basketball_finally_recognizes_its_gay_and_lesbian_fans.html
huh?
maybe most men in n america dont watch fuuball either, but out of the women sports ceommentators Ive glance at channel surfing every one of them impressed me with their apparent knowldge of the sport. the lingo, strategy analysis etc etc.
and again, what are the %age viewerships? do some research ya friggin dinosaur.
My loss. BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Warren Moon was the “Jackie Robinson” of successful black quarterbacks. And he did it with his ARM and smarts … not as one of those new “mobile” quarterbacks that are fast-running black men … who have inherited the speed gene developed by their forefathers who had to run fast to survive lions and police. Sorry … just piling on the insipid racism and sexism of this story.
And sayyyyy ? Didn’t Warren Moon start his career in Canada ? Thank you Canada … for breaking racial stereotypes! Well done!
Sorry Lance. I went a little “off topic” to endorse your comments. OK … back to the subject at hand. Yes, it IS a little weird to hear a woman speak about football with a deep understanding of the game. But I don’t consider Cam’s comment to be “sexist” … it is just “observationist”. As they say … “when you hear hoofbeats, you don’t think of zebras” … and when you hear a technical question about passing routes, you don’t think of women. Call it WRONG, or “sexist” … but it is natural, and normal … based on a long history of the game. And let me add, that when I hear a woman with a forced-artificial husky voice report on a players groin injury from the sidelines … I find it a little weird. Not because I believe women shouldn’t or couldn’t do the job … but it is simply out of the norm. The norm that I grew up with. So sue me. What Cam said was just fine … however can the NCAA please investigate just how much $$$$ Auburn PAID the Newton family to land him at their college?
BTW … I absolutely LOVE Rebecca Lowe … who is a studio analyst for NBC Sports American broadcast of the Premiere League http://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/bio/rebecca-lowe/ She has a thorough knowledge of the league, the sport, and the players. She is the LEAD analyst who runs herd over the men (ex players) in the studio. And she is cute as a button. All WOMAN … without a hint of lesbian in her (she just had a baby … with her husband). No fake deep voice … just brilliant commentary and analysis of the game. But, then again, I expect Britain’s “futball culture” is quite different from American football culture. In America the stereotype was women complaining about their men sitting on a couch all day Sunday … while in Britain women were IN the pub with their husbands watching the games all weekend.
And didn’t feminist groups recently publish a “study” that said the NFL was contributing to higher levels of domestic abuse on Sundays? That women were being “hurt” by the NFL? So how can they turn-around and complain about Cam’s salient observation about women who … evidently … are “contributing” to the propagation of domestic abuse ? Contributing to wife (and girlfriend) beatings … by supporting the game. Yeah … leftists are all contortion artists … twisting themselves into various pretzel-shapes.
My anecdotal observation is that at least half the crowd in my local pub (Ottawa) for NFL games are women, and a good 30 to 40% of the names in the various pools are women. It seems to me, at least at from my years at the bar, to be more popular among women than hockey is.
I would hazard a guess that many of the reporters, female or male, who interview professional sports-ball players, have no experience of playing whatever sports-ball game it is at a professional level. In that respect, they are all equally physically ignorant of what they speak. They are also all equally technical, or theoretical about it, and reporting it to a mass audience that is also equally ignorant of practice, and sticks with theoretical.
I can still appreciate an amazing play, and want to know more about it, even though I have never done such a thing.
Don’t care much about the outrage though. Seriously, who cares? We have so many more problems in this world than whether or not some sports-ball player disrespected some woman some where. Pffft.
What bothers me most about Newton is not the protest about the anthem (of course that also bothers me), and not his diss of the female reporter, but something almost completely missed by the media.
He gave the black power salute after scoring a long touchdown. And just to be sure, he emphasized that it was a black power salute. A black power salute says many things, but all of them derive from black supremacy. He wasn’t even penalized. I guess that’s fine by the NFL.
But he made a mistake with the female reporter. Per the NFL, it’s okay to be a black racist, but not okay to make a joke to a woman.
But I’ll tell you what. After Newton got away with his black power salute with hardly a murmur, any non-black who continues to support the NFL in any way is tacitly agreeing to be a second class citizen.
Bingo! Exactly right … thank you for reminding me of his raised fist … and for reminding me that black-racism is acceptable. After all … our “racist white society” … deserves it.
David … another of my personal stories … relevant to your comment.
My only daughter was a fairly good young athlete and played multiple sports “competitively”; soccer, basketball, swimming … and … softball. However when my daughters travelling softball team hired a 25yo lesbian coach … I was disgusted, and pulled my daughter off the team. Sorry, but MY daughter was NOT going to stay in remote hotels with her lesbian coach. Call me a homophobe … meh. I don’t care.
But when I mentioned in a family conversation how disappointed I was that lesbians have virtually taken-over girls softball … my hardcore leftist sister-in-Law went ballistic screaming that I didn’t know what I was talking about … that I was a homophobe … that her ex-husbands brother died of AIDS so how could I disrespect his memory by being a rightwing homophobe. She hasn’t spoken to me since. She won’t attend any family function that I attend. She probably won’t be attending my daughters upcoming wedding. But of course I am demonstrably correct … lesbians have virtually taken-over girls/women’s softball and women’s basketball. I have no interest in either … and hope “they” have no more interest in any other girls sports.

NFL Players Union teams up with George Soros.
most women don’t give a darn about most sports. now lets trot out some bogus numbers to prove that statement wrong.
I imagine your life is no worse for not having an immoral wing nut in it.
The NFL players & Media (ESPN) had workshops planning the pissing on the Flag & knee taking during the Anthem….The disgrace in the UK by two teams, both anti-Trump, was meant to be just the start of the BLM agenda. Trump preempted that plan and they went ALL in…The NFL has become a MAPF feminist cause…The game has become more interested in VAGINA issues than athletic ability…ESPN has females in the (HOST) anchor of expert panels…It is one thing to be a female fan of a game that is not played by females…but leave the vagina at home….
College teams are now the BEST examples of the Game… but remember Penn State and the destruction of a football Coach (Joe Paterno) by Democrat feminists….Joe didn’t do enough to stop the homosexual conduct by Sanduskey.. Who was the genius that wanted JOE out..EX-FBI Dir Louis Freeh was instrumental… WAIT! he is NOW recommended to Sort-out the NFL…How does that work? F&&king corrupt Fixer like Robert Mueller
