  1. That’s a great pop song with smart interesting lyrics:
    ‘We were born and raised
    In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days’

  2. Speaking of Around the World in 80 Days, I actually read Jules Verne’s novel, though in English. I wasn’t particularly impressed with it and didn’t think it was as good as many of his other works, such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and Mysterious Island. (Yeah, I read a lot of his books while I was in junior high school.)
As for the movie from some 60 years ago, I found it to be a crashing bore, though I never saw the TV adaptation with Pierce Brosnan that was made in the late 1980s.

  3. I know the feeling!! I didn’t like the movie, but I do love the song!
I’ve watched part of the series ”The Vietnam War” (2017) by Ken Burns.
Boring and confusing. A lot of repetition. But I did enjoy the songs.

  4. “Left-Wing Causes, Like Frankenstein’s Monster, Have Escaped Their Chains”
    “Igor, Bar the Door”
“Three strange incidents occurred in recent weeks.
Nancy Pelosi was “shouted down by immigration activists for trying to strike Dreamers deal with Trump.”
Hillary Clinton’s book received disappointing reviews from the left,
and former FBI director James Comey was heckled at Howard University. “Go home Comey, you’re not our homey.” The audience was turning on its performers.
All were signs the once reliable Blue Model is misfiring.”

“Rolling Stone is up for sale. Jann Wenner, the founder and steward of the legendary music mag, is seeking prospective buyers and preparing to relinquish ownership of the publication 50 years after launching it. It’s the end of an era.
Also, the Village Voice is going out of print. (End of an era.) And the Daily News has a new owner (end of an era) and Gawker’s dead (end of an era) and Graydon Carter is leaving Vanity Fair to go find himself in the south of France or something (end of an era) and—well, it seems like a lot of eras have ended for the media industry in 2017.” (newsweek)

  6. Old white men … are the reason for climate change “denial”
    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2017/09/22/guardian-climate-denial-is-the-fault-of-old-white-people/
Yep … I am a “denier” (read: demands scientific evidence)
Old ? … huh, I thought that 62 was the new 42 ? I consider myself “middle aged”
White? … well it really depends on the season and whether I’ve vacationed in a sunny climate.
Man? Guilty … I still have my man-equipment … although I’ve been told that I can change gender on a whim
    Al Gore? Old white male
    Jim Hansen? Old white male
David Suzuki? Old vaguely Asian-looking white male
And the empty-headed author claims the old, white, deniers are only interested in protecting the obscene wealth they’ve made from our “horrible” industrial economy. The Author may want to check the bank accounts of the above-listed AGW proponents. But I don’t really have time to argue with racists, who obviously embrace the Communist manifesto. So I will let the Spectator do it for me.
    https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/09/are-old-white-men-to-blame-for-climate-change-denial-the-guardian-thinks-so/
And let me add that the author cites a work which reveals his Communist (anti-capitalist) underpinnings thus revealing his TRUE motivation for pushing AGW … He is a Communist. A command and control, centralized, authoritarian rule over the little people. He is a Luddite who HATES the benefits and progress delivered by Free Market Capitalism. He wants a return to living in the dirt, planting and ploughing the fields by hand … and harvesting his “organic” crops by hand, before delivering the spotted apples to (local) market on a hay wagon. Effing IDGIOT!!!
” … that “conservative white males are likely to favour protection of the current industrial capitalist order which has historically served them well”

“Flashback: In 1972, Cronkite Warned of ‘New Ice Age’”
“… unearthed from bowels of media archives — comes none other than Walter Cronkite reporting on fears of a coming ice age in 1972. Having Cronkite’s image and face discussing global cooling fears reveals the fickleness of the climate change claims.”
““Climate fear promoters switched effortlessly from global cooling fears in the 1970s to global warming fears in the 1980s.”

  8. http://business.financialpost.com/transportation/bombardier-among-companies-using-legal-tax-havens-at-expense-of-home-country
An old,2014, but good article on how Canada’s corporations are screwing the Country via new laws passed so that they could move profits offshore, open plants in tax havens, then apply for subsidies back home.
This is also a good indicator of why we shouldn’t criticize Trudeau too much on this one, this situation has existed ever since the 1960’s.
Liberal or Conservative in government,Bombardier always gets it’s due.
And I’ll bet they aren’t the only ones.

And more of the same. While the peasants,us, expect fairness and vote Left or Slightly Less Left each election, the business of business in Canada carries on.
While the poor jerk who has three employees contracting company is about to get his financial ass kicked, the Biggies in corporate Canada take their profits offshore, all nice and legal, mind you, and pay almost nothing in taxes.
