Maybe the brain dead zombies watching NASCAR will focus on things of real importance like politics gov schemes and the Bible . I swear if some of these people knew the Bible like they know these sports says the world would be in wayyy better shape.

  2. My question is…have they done a comparison with the general population who may have CTE?
We always hear about fighters in hockey and football players. But what about the ordinary child that falls off the monkey bars or the head crashes that happen in soccer.
Or is it only contact sports.
How bout checking every brain of a dececeded person. Have something to compare it to.
I wasn’t encouraging my sons to play sports. They insisted. Football, hockey, lacrosse. I loved watching them play. Was never concerned about CTE. Even if I was, they wouldn’t hear of an argument to prevent them.

  3. Two corrections
    1) if I CANT play with my twin brother
    2) if they knew the Bible like they know these sports STATS.

  4. Good riddance. Boring to watch just like every other team sport on TV, but with the horrors of CTE and its effects. Letting your kids play full-contact football is child abuse. Actually, letting your kids play any team sport is a huge waste of their time.

  5. “Any kid who looked woozy after a hit was immediately pulled from the game and checked by a trainer, and often sent to the E.R., because better safe than sorry.” Statement
The CFL has MAPF (Mothers against Professional Football) already treating professional Players & Coaches as Children… In the Calgary/Edmonton game the Edmonton QB was ordered off the Field by league (booth) officials….He had been tackled hard, but was immediately Up & calling the next Play. Edmonton was on the Calgary 10 yard line and they lost their QB.. They did not score!
The QB or Coach could have called a time out if they had a problem, but
that was not allowed… The MAPF decision was invalid (after checkout) and QB returned to the game…
    MAPF is destroying the game!

  6. And the sad part is IF you think this will stop at American football? The same nannies have been demanding that Futball (soccer) stop the horrors of headers … for years. It’s just that FIFA makes the NFL look like an amateur swim club board of directors.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/27/sports/soccer/soccer-headgear-does-it-do-any-good.html
And if the headgear is not effective … then NO headers … and ultimately NO soccer. Except FIFA won’t roll over for a bunch of pantie waists who believe in a bubble-boy existence for all the chilllll-dren quite like the NFL and their FOOL of a Commissioner.

  8. The combatives don’t allow full-contact until high school ages, and nobody argues that there’s an organized effort to end Tae Kwon Do.
I know a number of parents who pulled their fifteen-year-olds out of hockey because the coaches were insisting that the enforcers do serious injury to the other team’s star players, enough to keep them off the ice for the whole game.
My question is…have they done a comparison with the general population who may have CTE?
If you actually read and follow the links, yes. They have a bank of brains donated postmortem. Part of the problem is that properly diagnosing the syndrome can only be done via postmortem autopsy, but the effects on a live patient range widely. Also, the brain bank isn’t very large (~400 specimens) and there is something of a self-selection effect going on.
We always hear about fighters in hockey and football players. But what about the ordinary child that falls off the monkey bars or the head crashes that happen in soccer.
Heading the ball in soccer is also a risk factor, if you actually read the article and the associated links. So is head-banging behaviour in autistic or developmentally delayed children.
The issue with CTE is frequency of hits, not one-time concussions; the likelihood of a child falling on his head off the monkey bars frequently enough to suffer CTE is pretty low, and would probably attract corrective attention long before it reached pathological levels.

  9. Kate’s observation is accurate. It is one more step in pussyfing of the Western male.
It’s a step by step program premised on converting all to the matriarchy.
The first step was civilian disarmament of Canadian men via Prog. Cons C-17(1991) & C-68 (1995). Destroying contact football will lead to the same for every male dominated contact sport. Only baking and making tea and knitting will be allowed.
The final step… well you can see it in the practice of halal slaughter on sheep.
Though the latest practice sheep/goat sounds like it was a mayor in rural Belgium.
The first step ideologically was political parties swallowing the identity politics of class conflict premise which says female culture is superior to male culture.
As the “feminist” political leaders in Canada, Premier Kathleen Wynne and Premier Rachel Notely don hijabs. Post-modernist feminism is looking a lot like Sharia.

  10. Next time I see some woman struggling with groceries, or stuck in the snow, the proper response would be “get some FEMINIST to help you”…..

  11. Rush Limbaugh’s been talking about this for a long time. Adam Carolla (who played in high school) has also commented.
Frankly, I think it would be a good thing. American spend far too much time and mental energy on football. I deplore the wimpifcation of society as much as anyone, but there must be a better method of reversing it.

  12. tell em to stand up and be counted, maybe, or just sit down and shut up, maybe, or ummm, stay home and watch sitcoms, how about go hunting, that’s it go hunting.

  13. I had a son who played hockey and a daughter who figure skated. Hands down I worried about my daughter more. Hockey has been under attack back to the ’80’s IMO. I do believe many of those attackers have a visceral reaction to physical confrontation the risk of injury is their method of reacting. My son enjoyed the game and at 37 still plays. What I saw in him at 12 was a young boy entering manhood and being nervous about what that meant. One of his biggest avenues of that transition was hockey and his team mates. He had to meet physical challenges within a team environment and he thrived through that experience. When many of those boys married in their 20’s the majority of their Bantam team mates attended.
I feared for my daughter’s safety in figure skating because she was encouraged to try moves on the ice with little to no protection from what might result. One could rightfully ask why I would stand by for it but my daughter was determined and under the spell of the skaters mystic. Disney could not do a better job of selling the allure of so many young girls in a system of pecking orders leading to no where. How many times did my daughter take falls with absolutely no protection. Hockey players have to where helmets, pads, throat protectors and mouth guards. The inequity between the two sports is startling. My daughter does not seem to regret her skating experience despite my condemnation of it. At 35 she has problems with her back which I blame on the sport. It does not help that the pinnacle that these girls are sold is Olympics. The fact that the Olympics is a global scam with graft and corruption not withstanding.

  15. Football schmootball. The plan is for boys to be transgendered and on the knitting team. Just don’t put your eye out with one of those things.

  16. You want to see some catastrophic injuries, take a look at gymnastics. Broken necks, broken spines, repetitive strain injuries, blown shoulders, knees, ankles, hands. Oh yes friends, it will wreck your kid.
Also dancing. Check out how many dancers over 30 have -brutal- arthritis in their major joints.
There is no question that pro-football is causing brain damage on players. I know an ex-NFL lineman, that guy has classic diffuse brain injury syndrome. One too many smacks in the head.
TENNIS is dangerous. Bad for all your joints, trip-and-fall injuries, all kinds of things. Even running has major down sides.
But then, lying still, wrapped in cotton, will kill you in six months. Heart failure and stroke.
The issue is, life is dangerous and leads inevitably to death. Given that reality, will we let a bunch of busy-body nannies decide for us what we want to do in our spare time.
Short term, the answer to brain damage (and most other injuries) in football players is to get rid of all the padding and ditch the helmets. Guys who are not wearing a battering ram on their head will not use their head as a weapon.
    Because pain hurts.

  17. Compared to the real blood sport, politics, football, baseball, hockey,MMA, etc., are too mild and rule laden.
My generation was raised to worship at the shrine of pro sports, perhaps the new generations are just not buying in to the false patriotism and worship of an event that means absolutely nothing in our real lives.
I have always liked sports, participated in many when I was young, but am growing increasingly cynical about pro sports today, and a good part of it is due to the attitude of some of the “stars”. Colin Kaepernick was signed in 2014 to a contract that paid him 126 million bucks for SEVEN years, and the sonofabitch has a bad attitude!
Combine this with the Owners attitude, to hell with the fans we are in this to make money, and it’s pretty hard to suspend your common sense for a couple of hours to cheer on your favorite team, knowing that the Owner is going to dump your favorite player to ease up the salary cap.
The era when I lived and died for the NHL games,1950’s and 60’s, you got to “know” the players, and usually the core stayed with the same team for most of their career. Henri Richard was ALWAYS a Montreal Canadien, anything else was unthinkable.
Today, especially in the CFL,it’s hard to keep track of these pro sport gypsies as they move from team to team. Has Kevin Glenn played on every CFL team?
Same with the NHL and their salary cap moves.
I’m sick and tired of being hustled by politicians, pro sports, advertisers, every pirate on the planet who just wants me to spend my hard earned money on their product. When they tell me I’m not a good patriot if I don’t cheer for who they tell me to cheer for,my attitude is,I can live without your crappy product,f*** off and quit bothering me.
And I believe a lot of people are coming to that point now with pro sports and constantly being “sold” on something. If pro sports, some of ’em or all of ’em, cease to exist tomorrow,it will make no difference in my life, or yours.
Pro sports has become the “opiate of the masses”,maybe it’s time to detoxify and get back to reality.

  18. YES The mothers have taken control! MAPF (Mothers against professional Football)..Standby for permission. Owners get to CALL in a Penalty…
Deflate gate, Switch gate AKA as “Double Jeopardy”

  19. I think we should have Taxpayers Against Amateur Football! I have a daughter that never was invited to high school football camp and it left me troubled by the amount that high school football cost the taxpayer each year. (She is all the better for having been overlooked!)
I couldn’t care any less about someone’s kid beating his brains out in front of his parents on the sidelines who were likely never competent enough to play the game themselves. Let them live vicariously through the kid. The lineage should probably be interrupted one way or another, anyhow. Just don’t send the damn bill to me for the equipment including the field and it’s upkeep, the insurance, the coaches and the trainers, and all of the other dopes that are affiliated with the sport.
Mothers Against Professional Football? Never heard of it but, man-o-man, that otta’ get them some time on the news – the ’15 minutes’ that a significant percentage of the population craves.
    Krist! We are doomed!

  20. Why should I give a hairy rat’s for a sport with players that take a knee during the national anthem? Kiss my red, white and blue ass. It’s NASCAR or nothing.
