Energy Transfer Partners, the developer behind the Dakota Access Pipeline, has sued Greenpeace and several other groups for what it calls a ‘campaigns of misinformation.” ETP argues in the lawsuit filed Tuesday that environmental groups are running a racket designed to raise money by emotionalizing issues.

  1. It is a nice gesture, but honestly, with the activist judiciary we have on the continent, what does any law even mean anymore? Is any contract enforceable? Is anything that is not expressly allowed still legal?

  2. America is covered with more Eco-Lawyers per square mile than there are roof rats. Eco-Lawyers are the apex rodent in North America. Expect them to put up a vigorous defense … like … a cornered skunk.

  3. Seriously. How would you predict the wise latina votes on this one? The ninth circuit? The people who went after Gibson Guitar because he donated to Republicans; you trust those guys to enforce any judgement against “their people”? Maybe they will tap the John Doe brute squad out of Wisconsin for this one. Maybe Lerner or Koskinen.

  4. It looks like a similar case as the one between Chevron in Ecuador a few years back. The lead environmental lawyer in the case Steven Donziger said publicly in his video “Facts do not exist, facts are created”. And creating they did the whole environmental report presented to the Ecuadorian court was made up. Chevron sued in the US and Donziger lost but still is trying to get money from Chevron Canada in the hopes that Canadian court are more likely ruling in his favour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSj4QHe6ogs

  5. Yeah, I just read about that debacle and it refreshed my memory of the multiple lies, fraud, and political corruption that led to a judgement against Chevron (who wasn’t even IN Ecuador … but they bought Texaco who was). I have a personal fantasy … that BIG OIL, BIG AUTO’s and BIG POWER companies all simply go on STRIKE. Cease all operations. Stop producing gasoline, and every other product … until they get a FAIR hearing in our courts. Until REAL science is returned to the courtroom, and the nonsense of Co2 as a pollutant is laughed out of court. I suspect the general public will rapidly change their eco-sympathetic tone. When they cannot go anywhere because no oil, no electricity, nada. And they alternately freeze and swelter. Let’s see the public REALLY live “carbon free” and “off the grid” like they romanticize. I suspect this may be the ONLY remedy for our Industrial corporations. To simply STOP. If you think a “Day without immigrants”, or a “Day without women” were duds … just wait till you are forced to take a month or so “without oil”. I suspect the public will come to their senses very, very, quickly. The general public are clueless about what it takes to make our First World existence go … perhaps we could all use a serious object-lesson.

  6. The world’s most successful hysteria pimping corporation deserves all the bother that can be foisted upon it. Nothing would be better than having it sued into oblivion as an example to the thousands of organizations that follow in its slime trail.

  7. Those exact same arguments by the plaintiff I think could be used against the environmental and aboriginal interveners for Northern Gateway, Trans-Mountain and Petronas West Coast LNG. But collective constitutional rights, left wing courts and overly sympathetic ideologically driven governments make legal push-back in Canada difficult – not impossible – but certainly requiring much more stick-handling and concerted supported effort by members of the public and affected industries.

  8. And our Prime Minister has a senior adviser from a similar (if not worse) crap pile, and is adding another of Butt’s buddies from the Russian front group Tides Canada.

  9. This is a STATE of North Dakota Law suit.. The Racketeering allegations
would/could trigger State or Federal criminal indictments of Environmental Groups… Lock them UP
Game changer if they are able to sustain/maintain jurisdiction in North Dakota…. The protection of/by the 9th circuit is not applicable…

  10. Absolutely could not agree more, give them a taste of 24 hrs without the things they take for granted. Then before returning things to normal stipulate that unless attitudes change it will be a week next time and a month the time after that.
