Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Since Trump has decided (rightly so) that climate change is junk science, the focus at NASA has shifted to more relevant subjects in order to continue with the empire building so dear to their hearts.

This one is for all the hard working men and women who keep the wheels of industry turning. It’s a sad song, but it does makes one think. Especially those people who believe that Donald Trump will revive Detroit and make it the auto capital of North America that is once was. This song is much closer to reality than Trump’s dreams.

Lovely song you picked tonight, Kate. I’ve always liked this since seeing the Phantom of the Paradise back in the ’70s.
Here is my favorite YouTube video featuring that song and a mashup of Phantom of the Opera remake for visual effects.
I think the Paul Williams song(always thought Williams was a genius) goes nicely with the Phantom of the Opera visuals better than the garish/campy original Paradise movie.

Second favorite song from Phantom of the Paradise was Old Souls.
Old Souls: Jessica Harper sings the sultry contralto that Williams specifically wrote the song for.

my wife and I saw Paul Williams at the Imperial Room at the Royal York in Toronto, when he was at the height of his popularity in the 70’s. A terrific show from a talented man.

“When the power goes out, so does civil society
The power went out at our house and across our suburb around dinner time on Wednesday.
Outside, neighbours returning home sat in their cars in a street as dark as a tomb, their garage doors refusing to answer their electronic clickers.
We searched for candles with the light of mobile phones, discovering only that we’d burned them to nothing at dinner parties.
We weren’t prepared for this return to an unfamiliar era at all.”

Out here in the buck brush you have to have a backup plan for when the power goes out – which it does frequently.
Once it happens in the cities anarchy will result. You need to have a plan.
Absolutely not. More Phantom the better.

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) – Petronas’ decision to cancel its Pacific NorthWest LNG project is a blow to the growth outlook for Canada’s largest shale play, eliminating a potentially huge source of future gas demand.
Gas from the Montney shale play in western Canada would have supplied the C$36 billion ($28.7 billion) project in northern British Columbia. The project, majority-owned by Malaysia’s Petronas [PETR.UL], would then have shipped 12 megatonnes per year of liquefied natural gas to Asia.
CAPP estimates the Montney, which covers 50,000 square miles of northeastern British Columbia and northwestern Alberta, currently produces around 4 billion cubic feet a day (Bcf/d) of natural gas and even without LNG will grow to around 5 Bcf/d.
But that forecast falls well short of the 8 Bcf/d of production CAPP expected when Pacific NorthWest LNG and Royal Dutch Shell’s LNG Canada projects looked likely to proceed.
….
Gas production is a huge money maker on services and manufacturing labour side. These gas drilling pads do 8-16 wells from a 20 acre location. Rig drills 8 wells down one side and 8 down the other, the middle is opened up between the 16 wells for operations and service access. These pads have 4 pressure vessels (separator, fuel gas scrubber, sand filter and blowdown tank) per well, so 64 pressure vessels per pad (approximately 1 million$ per wellhead in pressurized and operating wellhead equipment). Then you have compression and refrigeration plants so it’s massive pressure vessel inventory which is heavy material and labour intensive.
Oil shale plays have 16 wellheads and piping running thru a group and test separator and a fuel gas scrubber or air receiver, if access to local power supply, so 3 pressure vessels instead of 64 and no compression or refrigeration. There will be treater and storage vessels at the oil battery but it’s miniscule on pressure vessel inventory compared to gas production.
Huge huge loss for services and manufacturing labour in this country.
AGW RIP.

The State of Illinois has declared August 4th Barack Obama Day,a State holiday.
To celebrate, young black men should go out and beat up a fat white Hispanic in honor of De Prez’s deceased pretend Son.
SDA will have to keep this date in mind so in future we can send Obama a birthday card, with the following greeting:
Roses are red
Just like you
Drop dead you commie bastard
And to Hell with you.
Love,
All the gang at SDA.

And another Ponzi scheme that has been paid for with taxpayers money over the last seventy years has now been outed officially as the shame it was. How would you feel after paying MSP premiums for forty years just as you retire and are in need of a hip replacement the government decides you’re really not up to their standards for the operation.

Nobody cares.
They’re cheering in the Lower Mainland BC, Trawna….well, real estate. Quebec…well they just ended any exploration for nat gas in the St Lawrence for ever. Carry on carrying on. The Yanks will scare every dirt bag 3rd world “refugee” north of 49 to get rid of them & we’ll fork out the dough to “care” for them, feed & house them, over & above what caring for Canadian born needy will ever get. Nobody cares. We have euthanasia for those who get in the way. It’s legal, man.
Gasoline & nat gas is supplied from the US down east from Manitoba, as is any other oil product & only offset by a bit of import from the very country, Saudi Arabia, that brought on the oil crash in this country. The LPOC & by inference the mob that voted them in are not affected by this & they don’t care what goes on or not outside of Central Canaduh. The Chinese have shifted their real estate purchases from Trawna to Montreal, so it’s all good.
The Wet Coast will implode with NDP/Green stupidity & really, nobody west of the Rockies will know, or care in the end. The place could be invaded by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army & nobody would notice. Maybe a few folks wearing AK47’s wandering around to keep order, but really one wouldn’t notice much of a change in the ethnic mix, from what it is right now.
People mused about the meaning of Jordan Peterson in another thread. Dream on folks, this country is done as in Venezuela & nothing will save it, short of a brutal, violent civil war. Access to food & heat will rule here. Soon. Those who can’t afford it will die, or move.
I doubt that there is anywhere close to 3% willing to pick up a weapon, or even a length of rope to force the changes that are needed to change the direction of things in this country. I’m surrounded by Trudeau lovers & 3rd world immigrants in my subdivision. I live in entrepreneurial Calgary, run by a New World order, muslime, green Mayor. We are a carbon copy of Trawna. Guys like me are a dying breed. Literally, in my case. I’m incurable cancer, so soon I’ll be given a choice….euthanasia vs a painful slow death, once my current treatment runs out. My cancer care is too costly for a .gov to maintain, especially an NDP .gov that is running $10 Billion annual deficits & attempting to kill off one of it’s best money makers & collectivize the rest.
I doubt that I’ll be allowed to live to vote in 2019.
Socialism’s natural end result.

“Venezuela Reaches the Final Stage of Socialism: No Toilet Paper”
“In 1990 I went to a Cato Institute conference in what was then still the Soviet Union. We were told to bring our own toilet paper, which was in fact useful advice. Now, after only 16 years of Chavista rule, Venezuela has demonstrated that “Socialism of the 21st Century” is pretty much like socialism in the 20th century. Fusion reports:
Venezuela’s product shortages have become so severe that some hotels in that country are asking guests to bring their own toilet paper and soap, a local tourism industry spokesman said on Wednesday….
“It’s an extreme situation,” says Xinia Camacho, owner of a 20-room boutique hotel in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada national park. “For over a year we haven’t had toilet paper, soap, any kind of milk, coffee or sugar. So we have to tell our guests to come prepared.””

Very good reporting by Faith Goldy about the current influx of illegal refugees into Quebec. For the most part, Canadians are unaware that this is happening. A fellow who was interviewed was quite casual about the huge number of arrivals, suggesting that they are not criminals and his idea was they are just people who had a difficult time. Well — that part is true, but many are also criminals. They also appear to have money. I think we are inviting a huge increase in drug crimes and human trafficking — but Canadians — just like the guy in the video — are totally naive about what is going on. CBC and the government make sure there are no negative messages around this, but Goldy’s report is alarming:

“Internet hoax drives Haitian asylum seekers over US border to Canada
It started with a WhatsApp message that read like an answer to the prayers of thousands of immigrants fearing deportation by President Trump.
Canada wanted them, it promised — a revelation that filled Haitians across the United States with hope and helped to encourage an exodus to the north.
There was just one problem: the information was false. Nonetheless thousands of Haitians living legally in the US have crossed into Canada over the past two months rather than risk being sent back to their Caribbean island.
They have quickly discovered the immigration criteria are less forgiving than they had been led to believe.
To cope with the influx, Montreal’s Olympic stadium was pressed into service last week as a shelter for up to 1,050 asylum…”
