Today’s Word Is ‘Hegemony’

[In a survey of the political preferences of social psychologists] there were almost as many people who chose the furthest possible point to the left as there were who chose all the conservative points, the centre-point and the most moderate left-of-centre point combined.

Uri Harris on the ideological uniformity of social science. One of these.

  1. {Ms West, a “fat activist,” shares videos of herself eating biscuits.}
    Well, that certainly qualifies her for work at the times.
    Upon a quick review of the “index” of her site, it is obvious that her vocabulary is limited to words of victimhood only, or does she consider them in the positive sense? Nevertheless, she is obviously a very sick person. Let us really hope that cookie eating is all she shares videos of.
    Or have I just oppressed her? Nah, I didn’t bring any coconut shells with me so it can be oppression.

  2. Trump’s FIRST budget has cut the EPA’s funding by 40% (a decent start …give him several more years ), which by extension means that ‘climate/global warming research funding’ has also been slashed. Here’s hoping The Donald’s administration soon gets around to dramatically slashing university funding for the social “sciences”. Sane people must get serious about de-funding the left from top to bottom.

  3. Why is it called a “science”? Social science is a vague theory that has never been proven or replicated, formulated by questionable philosophers and academics,and it’s theories always fail in practice.
    It’s a bit presumptuous to call it a science,maybe just call it what it is, utopianism, the simple theories of simple minded intellectuals whose greatest failing is their reluctance to regard themselves as anything but god like.
    Many of these philosophic geniuses were actually the early day version of the kid on the computer in his Mother’s basement banging out his wisdom for all the world to see.

  4. How much diversity of thought happens in a cult? A social scientist should know that answer…

  5. it’s not a stretch to point out certain cult-like behaviours among hard core leftists.
    what the leftist novices fail to remember is that if, IF their esteemed leaders prevail, THEY, are the FIRST to be targeted for liquidation based on their penchant for radicalism.
    ah the long faces in Chirer back in 1950s and 60s eh?

  6. The … “social sciences” … ALL seen inured to Chairman Mao’s cultural revolution. Wherein the bottom … dregs … of society are artificially lifted to Supreme status. They ALL seem to act out (a misunderstood) admonition by Jesus Christ that … “the first shall be last and the last shall be first”. These “progressive” leftists insist that a FAT, ugly, unkempt, biscuit-eater is the “modern” image of a Fashion Model, and a beautiful women is a shallow, vapid, and worthless ornament. That an America-hater is a more-admirable First Lady than an America-lover. That an uneducated illegal immigrant who speaks only a foreign language is … “doing the (essential) work, that Americans just won’t do” … and is more essential than the farmer who organized all the elements necessary for the crops. The left is dedicated to elevating LOSERS to artificially Top status. An inverted, upside-down, world construct. Where 500 hooded German “protestors” are more-noble and righteous than the 20,000 police passively restraining them.
    BTW … my wife holds a BS degree, while mine is a BA degree. We have both had a great LAUGH about that ever since our college days. I took twice the REAL science (and math) courses than she did in college. And I use (and know) far more science and math in my daily work than she EVER has. But there it is on her diploma … BS. My BA is in a technical field of study … hers is not.

  7. That the integral part of the institutional left masquerading as education is decidedly left is not very enlightening but the Harris article is a good read. In the backslide to serfdom, the social “sciences” are doing their share of the heavy lifting. People are free to chose their poison but I can’t help but sympathize with the Maoist notion that these folks would contribute more to society in sweatshops lowering unit costs of production but the cultural suicide industry pays so much more.

  8. President’s don’t pass budgets. That’s up to Congress. Those cuts are unlikely to happen and even if they do they’ll get swallowed up by the increased and equally stupid spending on the military and ‘protecting’ America’s borders (from…something).
